                    Jaxon POV
Oh gods no. This cannot be happening. My body shook with embarrassment. The blood drained from my face. I could sense Alpha Blaze’s confusion behind me. I should have known better, I thought, closing my eyes and praying that what was in front of me would magically disappear. No dice. Jordan giggled, Alex snorted and turned his face away, his eyes meeting mine as his shoulders shook, amusement on his face. No wonder Mother had been so quiet this morning I fumed. But this? What the hell! Even Hades was laughing his ass off and rolling around on his back, unable to believe what he was seeing and yet not surprised in the slightest.
“Surprise,” my mother said enthusiastically, apparently taking my pale face as shock rather than sheer terror. “Who is that gorgeous man behind you?” she asked, sailing past me as my mouth fell open wide.
“I’m Alpha Blaze,” Blaze said quietly, and I heard my mother give a shriek as she openly ogled him.
“Oh, is that your mate Jordan? Oh, you lucky, lucky thing. I mean just look at the muscles on him! If I was ten years younger, I wouldn’t hesitate to try and seduce him” she sighed as Blaze laughed highly amused by her.
“Thank you for the compliment,” Blaze said cheerfully while Alex stared determinedly at the floor, his lips quivering. My mouth finally decided to work. “Mother,” I said between gritted teeth “what in the sheer hell that is holy is this?” She came up to my side and indicated the massive living room with a flourish. It had been cleared out and tables and chairs placed comfortably around the edge. That was fine. What was utterly horrifying was the huge banner spread across the ceiling that read ‘First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage’ in huge bold italic letters. A huge table clad with a bunch of fancy cupcakes and a wedding cake, a goddamn wedding cake sat on it, along with champagne glasses and bottles of champagne. There were huge cardboard cutouts of myself and Alex standing beside each other, my arm around his waist. I mean where in the hell did, she even get that picture? I hadn’t even noticed her taking it. Each table had fancy tablecloths and centerpieces. Huge floral arrangements, that one typically saw at a wedding reception.
There was a poster on one wall, showing Alex thankfully with clothes on, and several p*****s with Velcro on them. “Pin the p***s on Alex’ read the poster. I could see Alex glancing at it, blushing bright red and my hands itched, the urge to kill my mother strong within me. Where the hell was my father? I was ready to tear into him. How could he let her do this? I didn’t care what his excuses were. He should have been able to rein her in, instead of overindulging her. There were several pack members lounging around at the tables, sipping champagne, munching on cake, and some even playing the pin the p***s game. My mother looked at me with glee. “I wanted to do something to celebrate you marking your mate” she squealed, clapping her hands “Don’t think I didn’t notice this morning. I wanted it to be a surprise” she exclaimed.
Surprise was an understatement. “Am I missing something” came Alpha Blaze’s voice, sounding genuinely puzzled “Is somebody getting married? I don’t wish to intrude” he said apologetically. “A wedding is such an intimate affair.” Jordan giggled again. I turned around and glared at her. Alex let out a burst of laughter. “No,” I said between gritted teeth” my mother decided to throw a party to celebrate Alex and I marking each other” I explained tightly.
He still looked confused. I didn’t really blame him. It did look like a wedding had taken place. I saw Jordan whispering in his ear, no doubt explaining my mother and her quirks to him, his eyes widening with understanding as she spoke to him.
“Where is my father?” I asked, Alex still wheezing with laughter.
At least he saw the funny side of it, I thought sourly.
“Oh he’s been out training all day,” my mother said dismissively “That’s okay though because I had this to occupy my time with.”
In other words, in father’s absence, she’d organized this. “Mother,” I said tiredly, cracking a very small and weary smile why does the party resemble a wedding?”
She fidgeted, looking a little uncomfortable. “Oh well, it kind of went with the banner” she breathed pointing at it “And I wanted to have some um practice planning for a wedding,” she said sheepishly.
I sighed. The front door opened and Father walked in, halting in his tracks, his face whitening as he took in our small group and the living room.
“Serena,” he said very calmly and carefully “darling. May I ask what we’re celebrating?” he said jovially, sweeping past and kissing her lovingly on the lips.
My mother beamed at him. “Why, Jaxon and Alex marking each other. Isn’t it sweet” she gushed and then narrowed her eyes at the two of us. “You know, I could get hold of a minister and we could just get you married right now if you wanted,” she said excitedly “It would be no trouble at all and we already have the cake and champagne” she blurted out, her eyes shining brightly like golden stars.
I dropped Alpha Blaze’s suitcase, my mouth flopping open and closed as I struggled to find the right words.
“Oh Serena, I think that Jaxon would like to plan his wedding at a much later date,” Jordan said sweetly from behind me ” And just think how much more you’ll be able to do with a lot more time” she added shrewdly “it gives you more to work with and you can choose a different theme and have a lot more input. I’m sure Jaxon will appreciate your valuable work when the time comes.”
Thank you, Jordan. Alpha Blaze was nodding in approval. He looked fascinated. My father glanced at him. He was holding Jordan’s hand. “You must be Jordan’s mate,” my father said kindly, holding out his hand.
“Alpha Blaze,” Blaze said respectfully, dipping his head “It’s a pleasure to meet you…” he trailed off.
“Alpha James” my father supplied. He turned to his wife. “Honey let’s go have some cupcakes” he suggested “I can see you eyeing them.”
My mother pouted. “But I want to get to know Alex’s mate,” she said eyeing him “And Jaxon hasn’t said anything about the décor” she complained petulantly. “After I worked so hard on it too.”
“It’s very lovely and um” I looked at Alex for help.
“Well I for one appreciate all the effort that you have gone to Serena on our behalf,” he said graciously, inclining his head to her, his eyes twinkling with mirth “I find the décor utterly charming and although we are not prepared to get married today, thank you for thinking about us in regards to it. I cannot wait to try one of those delicious cupcakes and that cake looks divine” he complimented her smoothly.
My mother fairly glowed as my father gently tugged her arm and led her to the table with the cakes, practically skipping as she walked. She was so easily appeased, I thought scowling, or maybe it was Alex’s charming nature that had that effect on her.
Alex gave me a wink and then pulled me to him, planting his lips on mine. “Relax” he murmured, although his body was shaking in an effort not to laugh out loud “We did think it was suspicious when she didn’t say anything” he chuckled. “She means well” Jordan added, a small smile on her lips as she eyed the living room “and she really put her heart and soul into it. You’re lucky she cares so much about you. There’s literally nothing she wouldn’t do for you or for Alex” she added, an envious expression on her face.
“She’s very unique,” Alpha Blaze said tactfully “and I find her to be quite charming” he added as Jordan shot him a look. Jordan relaxed slightly. Blaze placed an arm around her waist. “How about we go get some cake and some champagne?” he asked and then quickly amended “non-alcoholic for you” to Jordan as she nodded.
“Sounds good,” Jordan said and then c****d her head. She had a thoughtful expression on her face and a slightly mischievous air about her.
“Alex,” she said, very quietly and very seriously, making my mate blink and look at her “I’m sorry to have to ask you this but “she paused for dramatic effect as Alex looked at her bewildered, waiting for her to continue “is that a true representation of your ahem genitalia” she coughed, pointing at the p*****s meant to be stuck to him on the poster.
Alex stared at her aghast. “Are they true to size?” Jordan said, asking for clarification.
My mate’s cheeks went bright red. Alpha Blaze began to grin. I snorted and then burst into laughter, bending over. Jordan lost it, laughing so hard that tears came to her eyes. Alpha Blaze chuckled. I laughed, hard. Alex finally snorted as I clapped him on the back.
“No” Alex wheezed “and I don’t want to know whose p***s she’s using as an example.”
“Sorry” Jordan giggled “I couldn’t help myself” she teased, pecking Alex on the cheek as he pretended to glare at her and then dragging a bemused Alpha Blaze behind her as they headed towards the cupcakes.
I caught Alex studying the various pictures plastered to the poster, raising an eyebrow at him.
“I’m pretty sure that’s not my p***s,” he said appearing uncertain.
“Really” I huffed at him “do you know how creepy that sounds? Besides, when on earth has my mother had an opportunity to see your p***s, let alone have enough time to capture a picture of it?” I demanded.
He relaxed. “Oh yeah, true.”
Dumb ass. I shook my head at him and pulled him in closer, resting my head against his forehead, attempting to calm myself down. He put his hands around my neck and began to massage it. I groaned. “It could have been much worse” he pointed out wisely.
How? The sad thing was, knowing my mother, it truly could have been. I was thanking my lucky stars that this was mild in comparison to anything she could have done. All sorts of horrible images flooded through my mind of ideas of what she could have organized and I shuddered.
“I love my mother” I groaned “And I will not murder her” I promised as Alex chortled.
“I adore your mother,” he said with a wicked grin “So what if she is a little full on? She loves you mate and she’s not afraid to show it. Not to mention she treats me like a second son. I’m willing to put up with whatever she throws at us, just to be able to feel the love she gives us.”
“You’re too nice” I huffed and pressed my lips against his, tasting the sweetness of his mouth as he moaned and gripped my ass with one hand.
“Go Alex, get some” shouted my mother, fist-pumping the air with triumph, and we pulled apart our cheeks flaming. “You were saying?” I said between gritted teeth as Alex looked down at the floor, no doubt wishing it would suddenly collapse beneath him. I smirked as he blushed bright red.
