                    Blaze POV
Thomas leaned against the doorway, a pleased smile on his face. “You’re happy then,” he said warmly “Congratulations man, I’m happy for you,” he said as I grinned, remembering the ultrasound and how I’d felt as I stared at that tiny screen and seen my baby on it, Jordan’s hand gripping mine tightly as we learned we were having a precious baby girl. I couldn’t be any happier. It had been a few days since then and I felt like I was floating on cloud nine. Not even the phone call from Jaxon warning us to be on our guard and informing us about Jordan’s stepmother’s death could keep us down.
Stefanie and Chelsea pushed their way past Thomas who cursed under his breath, while I glared at the both of them. They continued to be thorns in my side. Jordan and I had deliberately avoided telling my sister about the baby. Although it was going to be hard to keep it from her as Jordan’s stomach was beginning to round out with the pregnancy. She also had that glow that only pregnant women seemed to get.
“Rude much” Thomas hissed, flipping her off and glowering.
My sister as usual pointedly ignored him. She was still smarting from their last encounter. Chelsea tentatively sat on a chair, looking downcast. At least she had the good sense to look remotely apologetic which was more than I could say for my dear sister who resembled a hornet at that moment.
I gave a sigh. Jordan was resting upstairs, the pregnancy making her more tired than usual. I gave Stefanie a stern look, not pleased to see her. To be honest I was hoping she would go on another useless trip and leave me and Jordan in peace for a while. Apparently, that was a futile hope. Stefanie’s eyes were blazing. She put her hands on her hips. Great, more drama I thought sardonically. I wondered what had gotten her ire up now. Thomas folded his arms across his chest in the background. He was looking at my sister scornfully, no doubt waiting for another opportunity to humiliate her.
“Stefanie whatever the problem is just spit it out and then get the hell out of here, I really don’t have time for your pathetic complaints,” I said tiredly, slamming the laptop lid down and surveying her coldly.
I hadn’t quite forgiven her for her comments about my mate and she knew it.
“Is it true?” she hissed, her eyes blazing, her lips curled back, disdain on her face, her nose up in the air.
I stared at her blankly. What in the hell was she going on about now? Knowing her it could bloody well be anything. I mean could she be any more blasé or noncommittal?
I drummed my fingers on the desk impatiently while Thomas c****d his head, his expression moody.
“Is what true?” I asked with a roll of my eyes “You might want to be a bit more specific if you want an answer because I have no idea what you are trying to allude to” I snapped.
“I know you went to the hospital the other day” she snarled, “I followed you and you took that b***h with you” she hissed as I stiffened “So tell me” she demanded, “is that slut pregnant?”
I shot to my feet and slammed my hand on the desk. “How dare you call my mate names like that” I roared, my eyes flashing dark as she stood there, sneering at me, not apologetic in the least “And what business is it of yours?” I hissed.
“She is not worthy to be a Luna” Stefanie shot back, her voice rising and carrying out of the study “Can’t you see that you stupid man” she cried, throwing her hands up in the air. “Her bloodline is weak. She has no wolf, what if the child she gives birth has no wolf as well” she spat out, “you will be a laughingstock amongst the pack. Then what” she snarled “not to mention she cannot help protect it from rogues or threats. She’s vulnerable while she’s pregnant. You could die, trying to keep her safe from harm. All because she’s such a pathetic weakling. You deserve better than her. You need someone who can match your strength and your power. I don’t want to see my brother die because he made a bad choice” she said passionately as I stared at her, my jaw clenched tight.
“First off” I shot back, my chest heaving, my eyes glittering with contempt “Jordan is not weak, she is one of the strongest people I know. She’s been through a lot and yet she still manages to show kindness and compassion, even to those who don’t deserve it. Yes, she carries my child, our child” I emphasized as Stefanie’s jaw dropped open at my admission “and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t care if our child doesn’t have a wolf so long as they are happy and healthy. My mate makes me stronger by being with me and I would happily die protecting her and my pup. I have made the right choice and I stand by that decision. You have no business tearing down my mate or sticking your nose in my business” I growled in frustration.
“Do you think mother and father would have wanted this?” she dug the knife in.
I growled at her, the sound filling the room and making Chelsea jump. “Our mother and father were the most unhappy people I knew and they despised each other. They chose to be each other’s mates and they were miserable. I will not be like they were” I told her angrily “and you should think long and hard about what you want in life as well Stefanie. Stop putting them on a pedestal, because they were anything but perfect. They were the coldest, most unaffectionate people I knew and I won’t be like that with my own children and family.”
She gaped at me. Thomas gave me a wink and a grin of approval.
“Blaze” she wailed “I’m just trying to do what’s best for you. Chelsea is willing to marry you and she is a Beta’s daughter. She’s strong, capable, has a wolf, and is beautiful and thin. Why don’t you consider it? She can give you the heirs you want. You could always keep Jordan as a side mistress. Chelsea has already said she wouldn’t mind it” she said snidely.
I couldn’t believe her audacity. Who did she think she was? This went far beyond the realm of going over the boundaries | had set in place. I glanced at Chelsea who was nodding and smiling at me. I fought back my revulsion. As if I would want to marry someone like her. She looked like she never ate. There was no softness to her body, no curves that made my body instantly hard like Jordan’s did to me. I had no attraction to her at all.
“I cannot believe you just said that” I barked and then heard a strangled noise come from the doorway, Jordan stood there, a hand to her mouth in shock, tears coming to her eyes. Stefanie glanced at her coldly. I swore and moved towards Jordan, embracing her tightly.
“I would never ever consider something like that,” I told her fiercely “You are the only one that I want. I swear to you, I will never hurt you. I love you” I told her, kissing the top of her head as she leaned against me, her hands gripping me tightly, hurt flashing in her eyes.
Damn Stefanie for starting this drama all over again. Thomas looked pissed now. “Alpha Blaze, shall I escort these two ladies out?” he asked, flexing his hands and eying Stefanie with cold hard eyes.
I had my concerns about whether he would physically hurt them, judging by the cold expression on his face. Then again, I was having trouble maintaining my own composure.
“Not yet,” Jordan said in a deceptively soft voice, letting go of me and stepping away.
I frowned. There Something was off about Jordan. There was anger radiating off of her and a hardness on her face I had never seen before. Her lips were flat and her eyes were dark, so dark they were almost obsidian. Her movements were stiff and jerky as she made her way to Stefanie who smirked at her.
“What’s the matter? Did hearing all that hurt your precious feelings?” she mocked my mate.
I was about to rush over there when Thomas grabbed my arm and shook his head subtly.
Jordan c****d her head. “You know Stefanie, Thomas was right when he said that you must be jealous. I think you feel threatened by me” she said softly as I listened, impressed by her courage “Why else would you be trying so hard to get rid of me?” she asked.
Stefanie laughed “Believe what you will. But threatened by you? Hardly,” she said mockingly.
“Well, that’s where you underestimate me” Jordan murmured “You can try and belittle me, insult me, talk behind my back, and encourage your brother to try and leave me but none of that is going to work. We love each other and I’m carrying his child. You don’t understand how a mate bond works or how difficult it is to sever” she breathed, moving even closer to Stefanie who seemed a little disconcerted by Jordan’s words and her nearness to her person “or you would have gotten a damn clue by now and stopped being such a major pest.”
“Listen here you fat f*****g b***h” Stefanie began heatedly.
Smack. None of us saw it coming. Jordan punched her right in the face and we all heard a sickening cracking sound as she broke Stefanie’s nose, causing it to look misshapen and blood to come spurting out.
“My nose” screamed Stefanie, holding it and glaring at Jordan as she sobbed “You broke it.”
“I’ll break much more if you ever, call me names like that again” Jordan threatened.
I felt a rush of overwhelming pride come over me. I never knew she had it in her, but I was so happy to see her stand up for herself. I smirked. Stefanie more than deserved what had happened to her.
“Blaze, she hit me” Stefanie shouted, “do something.”
Jordan looked at me expectantly. I grinned. “Good job mate” I complimented her, with a wide grin as Stefanie looked at me shocked.
Jordan smiled. She circled her wrist experimentally. Stefanie sniffled. Thomas chuckled.
“Well, that didn’t quite go to plan, did it?” he asked Stefanie gleefully and then winked at Jordan “Excellent right hook” he added.
Stefanie stamped her foot like a petulant child and then turned to Chelsea who looked decidedly nervous now. “Chelsea” she snapped “let’s go.”
But Jordan wasn’t finished yet. “That reminds me,” she said frostily, turning her gaze on Chelsea who swallowed hard while I folded my arms and grinned, my eyes twinkling, “As Blaze’s mate and future Luna, I have a say in who stays here, and who doesn’t. I want you to pack and I expect you to be gone by the end of today,” she told the girl whose mouth dropped open in shock.
Stefanie gasped. “You don’t have the authority” she began hotly, still holding her nose.
“Actually, as she just stated she does” I drawled “and I’m in agreement. Now leave” I barked, and Chelsea scrambled to her feet, both girls practically racing out the door. Thomas subtly left the room, leaving my mate and Jordan alone as I swept her in my arms.
“You know” I murmured into her ear “seeing you like this, is a huge turn-on, what say we head on into the bedroom and I show you just how sexy I find you, mate of mine?”
