???'s POV
"God Almighty!" Julia exclaimed, stunned at how flustered his expressions were making her. She settled her palm on her chest as she cleaned her throat. "I have no idea what you mean."
"Don’t give me that, Julia,” he chuckled. “You cannot lie to me. I know you like the naughty things that are coming from my lips." He grinned.
"I beg your pardon," Julia grunted. She didn't appreciate his little remark. "I am a lady and ladies don't—they don't," Julia fumed, trying to find the right words to say.
"Is my mouth too dirty for you, Julia?" Dreadwing asked. This time he stared hard at Julia, who was trembling with heated rage.
"Holy fuck," Declan bit back his chuckle.
"Even the virgin knows what I mean, Julia." Dreadwing chuckled as his eyes landed on Declan, but only for a fraction of a second.
“I have never,” Julia cursed beneath her breath.
Declan's face immediately went serious.
"Introduce yourselves." Dreadwing turned to the wolves, leaving Julia to stew in anger.
"I am Declan Lockwood, and it's lovely to meet you, Dreadwing." Declan bowed.
"It is Dragon King, or Your Majesty to you, boy." Dreadwing fumed.
"Sorry, Your Majesty. It won't happen again." Declan gulped.
"And I am Alpha Zander Knight, Your Majesty." Zander quickly caught Dreadwing's attention.
"Ah, the infamous Demon Wolf. I've been expecting you."
"You have?"
"Yes," He shook Zander's palm. "And you must be his beta, Carson." Dreadwing went to shake James's hand. "You look older than I imagined."
"Actually, Your Majesty. I'm Alpha Zander's father-in-law, Alpha James Valentine." James corrected.
"Hmm, nice to meet you, James." Dreadwing stared long and hard at James before he let go of his grip. "Very well then. So, you seek passage into the Fae World?"
"Yes, we do," Zander answered. "But first we request your help in defeating a wicked being," Zander told him all he could in the space of ten minutes.
"And he took Seraphina's eternal, Ignatholon," Julia added.
Dreadwing took a moment to think, and then he spoke. "I wish I could help, but I'm afraid I can't."
"Can't or won't?" Julia intervened. "What kind of King are you, leaving your people down there to fend for themselves? They are struggling, and you are up here swimming in riches," Julia pointed to the mountains of treasure. "And you’ve killed-" Julia stopped and swallowed hard. "All these bones; they are your victims, aren't they?"
He knew he couldn't lie to Julia. "Not all of them."
"What do you mean, not all of them?" Julia raved.
"I mean, most of them perished trying to steal my gold. Others died because they tried to assassinate me," Dreadwing revealed. "Countless humans who studied mythology and archaeology actually found ways of finding my lair. So, they come seeking wealth and whoever attempts to steal my gold—well the rest is history."
"So you feast on them?" Julia snorted in revulsion.
"Do not judge me, Julia. You are in my realm, and human rules don't apply here." Dreadwing warned.
"And what about those who weren't your victims?" Zander asked.
"Well, the cave didn't let them leave," Dreadwing explained. "Many creatures came here seeking my help, but really they were only after my powers. For those who had ill intentions for me, they died minutes after being in the lair." He hummed. "At least I know your motives are pure. You all would have disintegrated ten minutes ago. Except for my queen, of course."
"That still doesn't explain why you won't help us," Julia added.
"It's because Lucifer isn't sure I'm alive. Ignatholon is my successor in case I died before I met my eternal. So, Lucifer captured him, thinking he is the strongest one of us. If I try to help, Lucifer would sense my powers."
"And then he'd kill Ignatholon," Julia declared. "I see now why you can't help."
"I might not physically be able to help, but I can tell you all I know."
"OK. That sounds like a plan." Zander exhaled in relief. He felt he was one step closer to finding his sister.
"I guess it's time to reunite with my people," Dreadwing announced.
"And I really need to put some clothes on," Julia stated.
Dreadwing grabbed her by the palm. "The rest of you go. My Queen and I will follow behind you later."
"I doubt that's a good idea, and I mean this with the utmost respect." Zander bellowed.
"It's OK, Zander, go. I'll be fine."
"Are you sure about this, Jules?" James urged.
"Yes, I am," Julia assured them. The Dragon King and his Queen watched as the three werewolves vanish out of sight. "And what is it you wished to ask me?" Julia demanded Dreadwing after she read his mind.
"The hell with talking." he gripped Julia strongly by the waistline and tugged her to his torso. "I've been waiting for the moment to be alone with you."
"And why is that?"
"So I can do this." Dreadwing leaned his head down and brushed his lips against hers. His eyes were fully closed, he opened them after, so he could study her reaction and when he was certain she was a hundred percent into the kiss, his mouth extended to greet hers again. His tongue wasted no time as it probed her mouth. Both of their tongues were fighting for domination.
Julia moaned and melted in his arms. Never had she been kissed like this before. "Hmm, this feels good," Julia murmured, biting down hard on his bottom lip. Dreadwing grunted, licking his way to her neck loving the salty and sweet taste of her.
He held her closer now, squeezing her in his arms, hugging her like he was afraid she would disappear if he let go. His breath was warm, then hot then it transformed into a chill as he whispered in her ear. "Can I keep you?"
