DREADWING'S POV
I was ready to take my eternal and fly off into the sunset to a place where we could be alone. I didn't feel like talking to these beings at the moment. My dragons and I wanted to taste our eternal's lips. Honestly, I saw the Luna's mouth moving, but my senses were elsewhere thinking about Julia's warm flesh rocking back and forth on my shaft.
"Dreadwing."
My ears perked at the sweet honey-coated voice of Julia and the tiny hairs on my arm stood up from the statics her touch brought.
"Yes, My Queen." My lips transformed into a smile as soon as my eyes travelled from her luscious breasts and settled on her beautifully crafted face.
Her brows furrowed. "Hazel asked you a question."
"Oh right. I must admit, you are just too distracting." I smacked my lips and she turned away, apparently affected by my words. I cleared my throat. "What was your question, dear?" I turned my attention to the doppelganger of my best friend, Lucinda. Even though it had been almost ten years since I had seen her, there was no doubt in my mind that this young girl was the spitting image of her mother.
"I said how do you know my mother?" Hazel's lips trembled and I could tell she was holding back her tears.
"I met her around twenty Earth years ago," I confessed. "She was looking for the Fairy Dust Shield."
"The Fairy Dust Shield?" Hazel asked confused.
"That's the entrance to the Fae World," I explained. "At first I thought she was human then I smelt her blood and realized she was a supernatural being. A hybrid. I got to talking to her and we hit it off, so to say. She told me, her sister is going to love me."
"She did?" Julia gulped. "Lucinda knew we were destined," she laughed. "Of course, she knew, she knows everything." Julia chortled.
"Yes, Julia. Lucinda told me all about you. How you find it hard to let loose, but when you do, you are the most fun to be around. She told me even though you were her younger sister, you always acted like the older one and always did the responsible thing. And when she explained to me hers and your connection to the Sun God, I knew I wanted you and I was overjoyed when she revealed to me that you are my Eternal," I finished, taking her arm and kissing the front of it.
"So Lu-Lu is really alive," James spoke, his eyes teary from joy.
"Yes, James. She also told me about you, her wonderful husband that was too good for her. She said you always made her feel special and loved."
James lowered his head, refusing to look at us while the tears slid from his eyes.
"She came here to find the Fairy Dust Shield and then what?" Hazel had a little temper and I could tell she was hurt her mother didn't try to reach out to her all these years.
"Hazel, I know you are upset, but your mother -"
"Don't!" She shouted, her voice so menacing it caused my dragons to flutter in my head. "Don't try to smooth things over for her. SHE FUCKING LEFT ME!"
"I know." I felt for the child. "But she wanted me to tell you that all your questions will be answered once you get to the end of your journey."
Hazel's rage was too much. I could taste it on my tongue.
"Hazel," Julia whispered, being an empath she was feeling everything her niece was feeling. "You have to calm down," Julia begged, holding her head.
"I- I'm trying," Hazel screeched.
My eyes shot to Alpha Zander who also seemed to be encompassed with rage.
"Kitten, please. Calm down. Your body can't handle so much power right now."
Her body sparked, like the result of rubbing two stones together. Then in a huge crackle, her body engulfed in flame. Hazel released a shrieking wail that echoed around the cave.
"How is she doing this?" I asked. My dragons watched in disbelief. The vampire covered his eyes with his palms from the blinding glare. The beta and gamma just stood there staring, as if there was nothing they could do.
James tried to get close to her, but the scorching heat forbade him. I held Julia under my arm as she shook in pain.
Hazel's mate, however, reached his hand out to her, and to my surprise, his hands bore past the flames as the fire consumed his body as well.
"Extraordinary," I murmured. I quickly ordered my dragons to give us some room. All of them left except Layla. There was still no Scorch in sight though.
Alpha Zander whispered sweet nothings in her ear until her body relaxed and the flame dissipated leaving the both of them naked and sweaty. The Luna however was too weak to stand. Her mate quickly swooped her into his arms before she could hit the floor.
A repugnant scent tackled me from behind, and my dragons protested inside my head.
"Sire, you're back."
I turned around to see Scorch hustling over with a filthy witch. Her silver hair was pinned in a bun on top of her head, and her white eyes were plastered on Hazel.
"Oh, dear. What happened to her?" Her voice held pure concern for the Luna. I didn't need to ask who this witch was. Lucinda told me enough about Isis and how there are good witches out there and some other load of sheep shit.
But I promised Lucinda no harm would come to her friend when the day comes.
"Scorch," I called to my advisor. "You can get up off your knees," I sighed. He scrambled to his feet. He looked older than I remembered, but I said nothing about it.
"We missed you, Your Majesty. There are so many things I want to tell you."
"There is plenty of time for chit-chatting. Right now, we have Ignatholon to save and the devil to kill."
"He is not the actual Devil. His name is just Lucifer," the witch spoke, looking me dead in the eye, like she was challenging me. She seemed younger than I'd imagined. How Lucinda described her and her age, she should have been looking a little more soggy and a lot less sexy.
Then it hit me. She sucked up some of Scorch's life force, so that meant he mated with her.
I dismissed the witch without responding to her. I promised Lucinda I wouldn't harm her, but I said nothing about acknowledging her presence. My eyes landed on my advisor, and they were bleeding with rage.
"You mated with the filthy creature?" I asked.
"Sire, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do it. I was caught up in the moment,” he trembled in fear.
"And were you so lost in bliss you didn't realize she stole some of your life essence?"
He didn't answer.
"Well, as your King. I forbid this from continuing," I spoke sternly.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Scorch bowed.
"And Isis, you will give back what you took from him," Zander commanded, but the witch busied herself attending to the Luna's well-being.
"I don't have to do what you say. You are not my King," the witch cackled.
"He wasn't ordering you, Isis," Julia intervened. "He is telling you to do it because it's the right thing to do. And you know it is," Julia scolded.
Isis's touch exterior faltered before she spoke again. "The Luna's powers are growing even stronger, but her body is becoming even weaker. We must get her to Queen Magdalena."
I was confused. The fairy queen didn't like to mess with other creatures' affairs. "What gives any of you the idea that the fairy queen will help?"
"Because Hazel has fairy blood," Julia told me.
"I see." That was one info my best friend forgot to tell me. "But to go to the fairy world, you'll need to go through the Fairy Dust Shield, and I cannot open the door without Ignatholon."
"So we have to save him then," Zander added.
"Yes, captain obvious," I shook my head.
We were busy laying out plans and studying our pros and cons. With my eternal by my side, we could use an echo to try to locate our missing dragons. But before I could explain this to the others, something huge happened.
My ears began to ring, and the atmosphere vibrated, sending the hairs on my body to spike.
"Something is wrong," Julia declared.
With great speed, I rushed out to the entrance of my cave. My hands went up to block the brightness of the moonlight. It had been a while since I'd seen the outdoors. My head tilted upwards, and I peeked through my fingers. A flash of movement caught my attention. I felt Julia and the others' presence behind me.
"What the hell is that?" Declan urged.
My eyes narrowed then my mouth widened when I recognized what it was. Bathed in the moonlight and spewing flames, a dragon streaked across the sky like a meteor.
"Is that what I think it is?" The witch sought.
"Everyone back! Get back inside," I yelled when I realized it was dropping too fast and heading straight for us.
I was the last one inside when we heard the dragon crash and skidded over the dirt ridge. He shook the cave when his body hit the wall outside. The Alpha and I made sure everybody was OK before we headed out to have a look.
Dust clouds surrounded us. Stones crunched beneath my feet as I walked closer to the dragon. He was lying in a crater his body formed when he fell. A wisp of smoke, like a beacon, flared up into the sky. Small fires flickered around the perimeter with feeble yellow eyes.
The wind carried the smoke away.
Layla rushed past me and dropped to her knees when she realized who it was.
"Lavatongue," she hailed to Ignatholon's dragon.
He moved, then in a brilliant glow he transformed back into his meat suit.
"Igna, you're OK," Layla laughed, throwing her arms around his neck.
But I was more aware of my surroundings than her. I could hear three other heartbeats.
"Where are we?" A female asked, standing to her feet, groaning and holding her head. Her blue hair came into view and then her nasty scent hit me like a lightning bolt.
"Freya?" I heard the white-headed witch say. "Is that really you?"
