ZANDER'S POV
"Dad?... Dad!" Hazel started mumbling repeatedly.
"Shhh, Kitten, it's ok," I hurried to her side. I held her hand and waited for her to fully awaken.
Her beautiful eyes squinted as they tried to see past the brightness of the room. "Zander," she said groggily as her eyes met mine.
"Hey, Kitten, how are you feeling?" she tried to sit up. "Kitten, just try and relax. You have been through a lot lately, so you have to take it easy."
She slowly resumed her position. "My father... Zander, where is he?"
"I'm right here, Sunshine." James walked up to the bed. "I'm sorry, this is all my fault." James shook his head.
"No, Dad, this is not your fault. I am just overwhelmed. I just found out a couple of months back that mom is alive and now you are also back from the dead... My brain just snapped for a moment, but I promise I'm ok now."
"Hazel, what did you just say?"
"Yes, Dad... Mom's alive. I found out 6 months ago, but I do not know where she is."
"But, I saw her body... She and..." James' eyes fell to the floor.
"It's ok, dad, I know I was a twin."
James looked over at Isis, "do you know where she is?"
"James, I was just as shocked as you when Hazel told me that Lucy is alive. I still can't believe it. I was the one who helped Julia prepare Lucy's body for the burial."
"Yes, I remember and I saw when they buried her and the baby in the ground. I saw them cover the grave and everything," James sighed.
"Kitten, did Julia ever tell you how your mom left the grave?"
"Yes, aunt Jules told me that my mom told her a couple of days before I was born that she met someone who was going to help her escape if anything should happen to her. She did not mention who the person was. She only told aunt Jules that when the time comes, she will have to fake her death to protect the 7th daughter. That's the only thing aunty told me."
"My wolf is angry, he wants to go for a run," James said.
"Your wolf?" Isis gasped.
"Yes, Isis. James here's a werewolf," I told her.
"But... How? Did someone turn you?" Isis questioned.
We were all curious to hear what he had to say.
"No. I was born like this."
"That's impossible. Zachariah and Abigail would have picked up on your scent," Isis snapped.
"Yes, my parents would have and my dad would have killed you for being a rogue."
"Abby confronted me and asked me if I was a rogue. Back then I did not know that werewolves existed. I thought she was joking, so I began laughing at her, then Zach knocked me out and the next thing I know, I was waking up in a dungeon," James explained. "That's when Zach told us that his wolf could not communicate with my wolf. I thought that they were crazy. They asked me about my parentage. I told them that my mom and dad lived in America. Zach was adamant that he wanted to meet them. I refused at first but then I saw him transformed into a big black beast. We flew to my parent's house the next day," James sighed.
"Then what happened. What did they find?" Hazel asked.
"They told me that they smelt my mom's blood in me, but not my dad's."
"What?" Hazel was confused. James had difficulty finishing the story, so I decided to help him out.
"Kitten, what James is trying to tell you, is that his dad is not his biological father. My parents didn't smell his DNA in James."
"Is this true, dad?"
"Yes, sunshine. We confronted my mom, and she confessed that she met a man on a trip she took to France two years after she married my dad. She told us that the man kept calling her his mate. She said there was this pull towards him that she could not resist. She fell in love with him. My mom then called my dad and informed him she was leaving him. But after she found out she was pregnant with me, the apartment that they were living got attacked by men with guns firing silver bullets. My biological father was killed, but before he died he told her to go back to America. So she went home to her husband, and he took me as his own."
"Dad, I'm so sorry."
"It's ok Hazel."
"So your real father was a werewolf?" Hazel needed to hear him say it.
"Yes, sunshine. Zander's parents told me that I had werewolf genes but my wolf was dormant. So I was mostly human... Until..." he trailed off.
"Until what?" I inquired.
"Until someone tried to kill me 11 years ago. My wolf was awakened by the blow to my head. Ushi's father Levi told me that my wolf saved my life, he helped my head to heal before I bled out. He called me a hybrid. I lost my memories that day."
A tear ran down Hazel's face. I felt her pain. She was blaming herself for all that had transpired. "If I wasn't born, none of this mess would have happened."
We all assured her that it was not her fault.
"James, what do you remember from that day? The day you were almost killed?" Isis queried.
Hazel yawned. She was exhausted. "Look, Hazel is tired, maybe we should let her get some sleep, and then we can pick this up when she has gotten enough rest." They agreed.
Isis told us that she was going to the market. She kissed Hazel's forehead and bid us farewell. I mind-linked Izzy to come and check on Hazel.
Then I remembered something. "Hey, James. What were you and Declan fighting about?"
His face went rigid and he gritted his teeth together. "Your Gamma attacked me after he found out I am Hazel's father. He said that I abandoned her and that he was going to kill me. He didn't even give me a chance to explain."
I chuckled. "The pack loves their Luna. They will do anything to ensure she's safe and protected," I explained.
James gave me a puzzled look, "You really don't know."
"Know what?" I cocked my eyebrow at him.
He looked over at Hazel before he spoke. She was already fast asleep. He still lowered his voice just in case she woke. "Your Gamma is in love with Hazel."
Gidian stood up on all fours. 'WHAT THE FUCK DID HE JUST SAY?'
Everything that happened in the past couple of months came rushing to the surface. The way he avoided me for weeks and the way he almost sacrificed himself for her. He even told her he loved her, right in front of me.

"So, Declan is in love with Hazel?"
"It is obvious, Alpha. I am surprised you did not see it before. What are you planning on doing to him?" James saw the look on my face. I did not answer him. Izzy came to check on Hazel. I kissed my wife and left the room.
'We should kill him. He has disrespected us.'
'Easy, Gidian. We should at least hear what he has to say.'
'Yes, you're right, and then we kill him,' Gidian grunted.
'Yes and then we kill him, but first we have to make sure that Hazel doesn't read this plan of ours,' Gidian nodded in agreement. We tucked our plan away deep in the back of our mind. It was heavily snowing outside, but I still needed to go for a run.
