GABRIELLE'S POV
Another stray tear slid down my cheeks. "Don't be so quick to praise me, Hazel. I have not been feeling like myself. Since I gave birth, I am always crying and I hardly ever sleep. I have been exhausted, so that's why I keep drinking energy drinks... And I found myself the other day regretting ever having CJ... I know it's wrong and selfish and I deserve to go to hell for it, but I just couldn't help it Haze. I just couldn't." Tears gushed from my eyes once more.
"Oh no, Gabz. Why didn't you come to me? You shouldn't have been going through this alone." I watched as Hazel's facial expression calmed, she looked almost like a weird porcelain doll. "I just mind-linked Izzy, she told me that we should meet her in your quarters."
I wish I could mind-link other pack members too, but because I was not a wolf I did not possess the ability to do so. Carson is the exception since he is my mate. "Ok, Haze, let's go."
We hugged each other at the shoulders as we walked to my quarters.
I had Izzy were-sit the pups there since it's much bigger than her place.
We entered and saw Izzy feeding Alvin. She finished up with the baby and she burped him and placed him in the baby swing. I searched the room for the other two babies. "Where are Polly and CJ?"
"They are asleep in the nursery," Izzy assured me. "Now, tell me how you are doing?" I sighed and told Izzy how I had been feeling; from my insomnia to my emotional breakdowns. To my regrets about having CJ. She listened keenly. "Gabrielle, this sounds like you are experiencing postpartum blues, more commonly known as baby blues."
I was stunned. "I had never heard about this but I know about postpartum depression."
"Baby blues can develop into postpartum depression, but you're far from that. All you need is some rest. Your sadness and mood swings shall pass after two weeks. If your symptoms get worst then I will have to check you for postpartum depression. Until then, the entire pack will help you and Carson in any way that you feel comfortable and Gabrielle, you need to remember that you are our female beta, you can use your title to get help around here. If you feel like you need a break, we have omegas who takes care of our pups so we can take some time for ourselves. Trust me, there are times that Polly sends me into a crying fit because she won't sleep or eat."
"Wow, I did not know that."
"Look, I am going to form a mamas group for us. Every new mom from the pack can join. That way we can support each other."
"That sounds great."
"Group hug," Hazel wrapped her arms around Izzy and me.
"And Luna, since you are here. Let me just give you a small check-up. Alpha will kill me if anything happens to you."
"I will go check in with CJ in the meantime."
"Ok, but CJ already has himself a visitor," Izzy told me.
"Really! Who?"
"Go see for yourself," she chuckled. I sauntered to my baby's nursery. I was stopped in the hallway when I heard singing.
🎶 Twinkle, twinkle, little star. How I wonder what you are.🎶
I listened as Carson sang to our son and all the fears and dread lifted from my heart. I realised that apart of my breakdown is because I thought Carson regretted having our son, I thought that was why he had never held him. I peeked in and watched as he cradled our son in his arms. My heart melted and my happiness overflowed.
"You know little man, I can't wait to teach you everything I know. I am going to show you how to catch fish, but not like a human, like a wolf. I am going to teach you how to drive as soon as your little feet can touch the pedal." I watched as Carson kissed CJ's little toes. CJ cooed and wiggled in Carson's arms. "You like that, little man?" Carson chuckled. "You are so cute, buddy, just like your daddy. I can not wait to teach you how to get the ladies...oh yesh, yesh little buddy," Carson finished in a baby voice. He then turned to the door, "Cupcake, you can come in now."
"But how did you know I was there?"
"You forgot I am a werewolf? I smelt you the moment you walked through the front door."
"Right," I slapped my forehead. "So you heard what Izzy and I talked about?"
He placed a sleeping CJ back in his crib and he cradled me in his strong arms just like how he held CJ a few seconds ago. His actions surprised me and I gasped. "I only heard the last part of your conversation, where Izzy was telling you about your baby blues symptoms and Gabrielle, I am so sorry. I should have been there for you. I hate myself right now."
"Oh, Carson. It's ok. Everything just vanished the moment I saw our son in your arms."
"Then I shall pick him up more often," he placed a small kiss on my nose. "I love you so much, Gabrielle," he rubbed his cheek against mine. Hazel told me Zander does this to her too. It must be a wolf thing.
"I love you too, Carson," I grabbed the back of his head and I placed a chaste kiss on his lips, but Carson was not having it.
"Gabz, even Zander's grandma used to kiss me better than that."
"Zander's grandma?" I quizzed him. He just flashed me a devilish smile and then he pressed his lips against mine. Our kiss was filled with so much passion. "Oh, Carson," I moaned, forgetting about Zander's dead grandma.
"Oh, Peggy," Carson groaned out Zander's grandma's name.
I had to laugh. Carson is something else. "You're an idiot, Carson Danvers," I pouted.
"Yes I am, but I am your idiot," he attacked my lips once more. "Now let's go down to the games room. I do not feel comfortable leaving Alpha and the bloodsucker alone so long."
We kissed CJ and then we grabbed Hazel and headed to the games room.
