ZANDER'S POV
"Alpha Zander, what is the plan?" Declan sighed.
I still craved to murder this motherfucker, but because I was going to require every able-bodied wolf on the mission to locate my sister, I let him off the hook.
"I think we need to find out where Prudence and Freya were taken. Maybe Isis could get a reading or something."
"That's not a bad idea," Isis agreed. "But first, I must go to visit the Tree Of Hecate."
"The Tree of Hecate?" Dimitri questioned.
"Yes, we have a tree that's a gift to us, from the Goddess herself," Isis beamed with pride. "Many millennia ago, Hecate came to earth while on a mission to find the gate of hell. Hades attacked and almost killed her; Hades is God of the underworld. A few people that were living here, found her and nursed her back to health. So in return, she granted them powers of their own. She taught them how to mix potions and cast spells and thus the birth of witchcraft."
"So the witches here are the descendants of the first witches?" Dimitri inquired.
"Just the Cerulean sisters and myself."
"Ok. So tell me about this tree," I wanted to know.
"When Hecate was struck down by Hades. She bled where she laid. The people were afraid to move her, so they built a shrine around her, they knew she was of divinity. They nursed her back to health in that special spot. After she was better, a white tree sprouted to maturity in seven days; The Tree Of Hecate. It possesses healing and magical properties."
"Oh, The White Tree Coven," Dimitri whispered to himself. "Can we see this tree?" Dimitri asked.
"I'm afraid not. Only a pure-blooded white witch can go in its presence; so only me and my daughter know its exact location."
Suddenly, it hit me, pain; White, hot, scorching pain.
It rippled through my veins, burning my heart and frying my brain.
From deep within my chest, an animalistic shriek escaped from my mouth. I fell to my hands and knees. I could see the steam evaporating from my pores.
"Alpha, Alpha!" The voices of Rollo and Declan rumbled through my ears.
"He's on fire!" I heard Isis gasped.
I lowered my eyes to my arms, and they were burning with flames.
"Stay - back," I ordered Rollo and Declan as they attempted to lift me. Dimitri was cowering away from my blazing body.
So, the bloodsucker was afraid of fire, I noted.
Nothing that the witches tried annihilated the flames.
"What is wrong with him?" Imogen shouted.
"I'm afraid, I do not know," Isis sighed.
"It's Hazel - something's wrong with my Hazel," I announced. Declan and Dimitri fell to the ground next to me. They wanted to know if she was ok. "I don't know - she has passed out from the pain."
"Bloody hell, we have to get back to her," Dimitri argued.
"Yes Alpha, Dim is right," Declan agreed.
Dim? When did those two become best buds?
My mind pulsated and I knew it was Carson trying to reach me. 'Alpha, you've got to get back here, Hazel is - she's - fuck I don't know Alpha, just come quick.'
'We'll be there as soon as possible,' I told him.
"Who was it, Alpha?" Declan wanted to know. I told him it was Carson.
"Zander, I can portal us there."
"Ok, Isis. Just let me get on my feet first." I was in pain.
"Zander?" I heard the fragile voice of Amy. "Are you leaving?" I craned my neck and saw her dawdling over to me. She looked at the witches. She probably was thinking my body being on fire was their doing.
"Yes, Amy. I am, but I'll be back for you."
"But you promised you wouldn't leave me."
"I know and I'm not. I will be back soon. I promise."
Tears trickled from her eyes, but she didn't utter a sound. She just wiped her eyes and ran back to the bungalow. I told Rollo to stay and monitor her.
"Let's go, Luna needs me." We all snapped our heads to look at Declan. "I meant she needs Alpha."
Gidian growled.
"I'll be there in a few hours," Dimitri declared.
"You sure you don't want me to travel with you, Dim?"
"No, Dec. I'll be at ease to know that you will be with Hazel until I get there."
What am I invisible? I scoffed.
They gave each other a manly hug. If I wasn't in pain, I would grab Declan by the neck and throw him through the portal door that Isis had opened.
Declan jumped through the door and Isis and I followed.
With my body still engulfed in flames, I saw Carson kneeling over an unconscious Hazel. She too was on fire. "Carson, move," I bellowed.
"Holy fuck, Alpha, you're also cooking," he gasped as he watched the blaze dancing around my body.
"Tell me what happened."
"We don't know Alpha. One minute she was laughing and the next she was screaming for Ingrid to take CJ," Allen explained.
"Her body just lit up in flames, and then she passed out," Ingrid asserted. "Carson was notified and as soon as he got here he reached out to you."
"We tried to move her, but every time I touched her I was burnt," Carson lifted his charred hands to my face.
I knelt beside her. Her nudity was visible beneath the flames, "Kitten, can you hear me?" I slipped my hands beneath her body and cradled her in my arms. She was so beautiful. "Hazel, wake up, please baby."
Isis walked up to us, and she ran her hand above Hazel's body.
Isis chanted and her eyes went cloud white. "Impossible!" She scoffed. "It can't be."
"What is it, Isis?" I started to worry when I saw the frightened expression on Isis' face.
"The other day when Hazel fainted, I was trying to tell you something important, but I saw James and our reunion distracted me from telling you my findings."
"Harper - Harper," Hazel shouted in her sleep. "Leave her alone, you bastard."
"She's having a nightmare," Carson stated. "She's been shouting the name Harper for the past 20 minutes."
"Kitten, wake up, darling - wake up."
Her eyes shot open, "Zander, you're on fire," she panted in shock.
"I know and so are you," I told her. I lowered my head and kissed her lips. "Are you in pain?"
"No - not anymore," she kissed me again. " How about you? Are you in pain?"
"I was, but now I'm not."
"I think I know what's happening," Isis announced. "I need to talk to you two alone."
"We'll leave," Declan spoke. "Luna, please don't scare us like that again."
Asshole.
"I won't do it again, I promise," Hazel giggled. The flame faded from both our bodies.
"Alpha, call me if you need me, and Lun-Lun if anything bad should happen to you - I couldn't bear it," Carson sniffled.
"Oh, Carson, nothing bad will happen to me. Have Ingrid take a look at your burns."
He nodded and left the room with the rest of the crew.
"Hazel, where is James?" I asked.
"He left for a run and when I collapsed Ushi went to get him. They aren't back as yet."
"Ok. Isis, go ahead and tell me what you know."
"Zander you can let me go now."
"Never, Kitten. I'll never let you go," I growled, and she giggled. "I'm glad you're feeling better."
"Hazel, dear, what happened before you fainted. Did you feel weak or dizzy?" Isis questioned.
"I felt the complete opposite. I sensed a powerful surge of energy, it was almost like it was gonna burst from within. I felt hot, and then the burning anguish ate away at my insides. I saw the fire blazing around my hands and then I collapsed."
"Hmm, what about you Zander?"
"I felt the same, but the suffering I endured wasn't my own, it was Hazel's."
"Just as I thought. Since you both are fully mated, your powers are manifesting. Zander because you are a werewolf, your transition is going smoothly. I reckoned your pack is feeling your powers strengthen as well as their own."
"And me?" Hazel quirked her brow.
"I'm afraid that if your powers continue to accumulate - you will die. The human part of you can not handle such power." Isis swallowed hard.
"What? There's no way I'm letting Hazel die. There must be something we can do."
Hazel was in shock. She didn't say a word.
"There's a way you can save her."
"Tell me, Isis," I grumbled.
"You will have to turn her."
