                    CARSON'S POV
It's Alpha's birthday tomorrow. I couldn't allow him to go on this trip without me. I knew the main reason for this journey was to fix Lun-Lun's powers so that we could find Zoey, but who said we couldn't have some fun along the way.
'I cannot wait for him to see my surprise.'
'Carson this is about saving Luna and Zoey. Plus your plans always seem to get us in trouble.'
'Don't worry Jinx, everything will go according to plan.'
'I pray to the Moon Goddess you're right.'
I bid Gabrielle and CJ farewell then I met Alpha and the others in the waiting area.
When I stepped in the room, my eyes almost fell out of my head.
Alpha had Dimitri cornered. His claws were out and so were his canines.
"Explain it to me again?" Alpha asked, venom dripping from his mouth.
"As I explained to you a dozen times before, I think I might be in some blood relation with your wife. Plus I do not see why you're angry with me - the saying goes, you can't choose your family," Dimitri chuckled.
"What is going on in here?" I asked in surprise.
Luna related to Dimitri, that's impossible, I thought.
"Nothing Carson," Alpha released his hold on Dimitri. The bloodsucker was grinning like an idiot. For some reason, he was enjoying himself.
Isis, Ushi and James walked in the room, followed by Luna and Julia.
"Declan said he'd meet us in a minute," Ushi told us.
"Good," Alpha announced. "Now, Isis said where we're going we can't portal in, so we'll split up in teams of two since I don't have a vehicle to hold all nine of us."
"Alpha - I might have a solution," I said proudly. "Follow me, everyone."
They all gave me a panicked look, but I hurried outside to show them my surprise.
"OH, MY, GOD. Carson this is beautiful," Luna praised.
"Happy birthday Alpha," I beamed as I jumped into his arms.
ZANDER'S POV
I was still pissed about finding out that my mate might be related to Dimitri. Out of all the bloodsuckers in the world, it had to be this asshole, the one who got my sister into trouble.
I just wanted to be on our way so that Hazel could get the help she needed. I still think she should let me turn her, but she was as stubborn as a mule. I couldn't complain though, that was one of the many reasons why I love her.
"Oomph," I choked, as I felt the air being squeezed out of my lungs.
Carson flung himself into my arms, wrapping his hands around my neck and his legs around my waist.
"Happy birthday Alpha," he exclaimed while he pressed his face in the crook of my neck.
My birthday? Shit, I forgot.
"My birthday isn't until tomorrow," I explained.
"I know buddy, but I wanted to do something nice for my best friend," Carson smiled.
"This is so romantic." I saw Dimitri wiping a fake tear from his eye while he had a hand over his chest in an exaggerative manner. "I love a good bromance," he cackled.
"Carson, thank you but you need to get the hell off me," I mumbled.
"Oh, right." He slowly peeled away from me then he cleared his throat as he showed us the RV.
I must admit, it was perfect.
35ft, stainless steel surface, with a touch of black coating the edges of the door and windows. The back had the word, Wolf Pack written in bold letters.
The travel trailer was perfect for every weather, with freeze-proof insulation and front stored/covered 50lbs LP propane bottles. The underbelly storage had an effortless slide and guild pull out rails for easy access.
"Wow," I said out loud.
"So that means you like it?" Carson questioned. He had a beady look in his eyes like a child who was waiting on their father's approval.
"I love it, Carson. Thanks, man."
"Ok, everyone set to go?" Declan walked up to us. He had two large suitcases pulling behind him.
"What the hell, Declan? We're not going on vacation," I shook my head in disbelief.
"I know that Alpha, but who knows how long we might be on the road. I figured we are gonna need adequate food for the journey."
"Declan, I already packed enough food for at least a week," I explained.
"Ok, Alpha, but it's winter and us wolves eat three times as much in this season and I know you didn't pack anything for Dimitri, so I guess my stash will be back up if yours runs out."
"You packed food for the vampire?" Carson asked in amusement.
"Of course. I had Ingrid portal into a blood bank. We got him his favourite, AB positive, fresh from the veins," he stated proudly.
"Dec, I knew you'd always have my back," Dimitri sauntered over to Declan. They did this crazy, boy scout handshake routine.
"And I know you'll always have mine, Dim," Declan chuckled while they hugged each other.
"Now this is fucking romantic. If Zoey wasn't the vampire's mate I would have thought Declan was," Carson hollered.
"Oh, shut it, pup. You're just jealous that your master is still upset with you," Dimitri rolled his eyes. "Now let's get going."
They all filed inside the RV after I permitted them.
"WOW! Beta you really wolf this place out," Dimitri chuckled.
"Yeah, Wolfed-Out, I like that Vampy," Carson teased.
The insides were even more immaculate than the outside. It had panoramic front and rear windows, easily bringing the outdoors insides. I knew I would have fun watching the scenery pass us by as we journey to Serpent's Valley.
This home on wheels comfortably held 15 people.
Carson had outdone himself. This RV had been well designed with ample storage and modern features.
"What do you think, Alpha?" Carson waited for my answer.
"Carson, I love it. Thank you," I told him.
"I'm glad Alpha and I just want to apologize about sleeping with Zoey and not telling you - I'm sorry."
I didn't want to think about that. "It's ok Carson. Let's just not mention it - ever again."
"Please, let's not," Dimitri scowled.
"So who's driving?" Hazel asked.
"I am a great driver, I could drive if that's alright with you, Alpha?" James said.
"Sure, why not," I let out a breath while I sat on the leather couch, stretching my leg out.
James settled around the driver's seat and Isis sat upfront with him.
The engines came alive and we were on our way.
Carson, Dimitri and Declan sat together at the bar.
While Julia and Hazel sat in the corner chitchatting. It was a shame what Abraham did to her.
Ushi was sitting by himself. "Hey, Ushi. Come sit next to me, we'll have a drink."
I sat up, poured him a glass of white rum and handed it to him.
"Thank you, Alpha Zander."
"No problem. So you're the new Alpha of your pack?"
"Well yes, but I can't seem to get anything right. If it wasn't for James, I'd be usurped."
I haven't heard about wolves overthrowing their Alpha in ages, but from what I've learnt Ushi's pack was very old fashioned.
"I'm sorry about that. If you ever have any problems disciplining your pack, I will be happy to lend a hand. I can tell you're good people Ushi "
"Thanks, Alpha."
"Nonsense. You're an Alpha too, you should call me Zander."
He smiled and took another sip of his beverage. I learnt that he loved to paint like Hazel and he also had a talent for mechanics, but the poor guy could barely read to save his life. My pack was one of the few who allowed their wolves to get schooled the human way. I thought it would give us an advantage when we could blend in with the mundanes if need be.
