                    ???'s POV
"Kimberly, bring me some warm water," Isabelle ordered the young omega.
"Yes doctor," Kimberly bowed as she scrambled to get the warm water.
"How's Freddy?" Izzy asked Ingrid while she checked Gerry's temperature. "Gerry's burning up - Cleo, help me take his clothes off, Duncan and Allen fetch me a few buckets of ice."
"I think Freddy will be ok," Ingrid stated as she applied the antidote to his neck. "This should counteract the silver - now I leave it to his wolf to heal him," she sighed as she washed him with the warm water.
"Maybe I could help his wolf - I assume he may have beta or even alpha blood, that's why he managed to stay alive. If he was an omega, he would have been dead," Isabelle wiped her hands in her coat and strode over to the bed where Freddy laid. "Hold him down."
"I don't think I'll like this," Ingrid gulped as she put pressure on his chest.
Isabelle took his left foot in her palms, Freddy was in and out of consciousness. A low groan slipped from his lips, which soon pivoted into a howl when Isabelle broke his leg. Freddy thrashed against Ingrid's grasp. "Hold him down!" Izzy shouted.
"Fuck, he's strong."
"I need him to stay still, if he moves too much I might rip his leg off," Izzy grunted.
"Παραλύστε τον," Ingrid whispered an enchantment in Greek and the wolf's body froze.
"What did you do?" Izzy asked.
"A paralysis spell, now do your thing, Doc."
Izzy took his right leg and shattered the bones. Then she did the same with his arms. "That should help burn the wolf's bane from his blood faster and trigger his wolf's healing. Now unfreeze him, so his body can begin the process."
Ingrid reversed the spell, and even Allen flinched when he heard Freddy's wails.
Allen and Duncan quickly filled the tub with ice, then Cleo and Izzy placed Gerry in the icy bath.
"Do you think he'll be ok?" Cleo asked with tears in her eyes.
"I don't know," Izzy spoke truthfully as she offered Cleo a hug.
Duncan was busy mind-linking Zander. "Alpha said to keep Gerry comfortable and to ask Ingrid if she can tell us anything that may help us know what transpired."
"Duncan, I don't know what happened. Gerry just told me to save Freddy. He promised to be out of there after he checked to see behind the white doors. An hour later, his wolf was contacting Cleo that he needed help. He said little before he fell into the coma."
Duncan passed the message to Zander.
"Isis explained you will need to perform a blood fusion test," Duncan transmitted.
"What? Mother knows I haven't perfected that spell as yet," Ingrid grunted.
"She said not to worry, she's sending word to the Cerulean sisters to come to our aid."
"Ok, good," Ingrid sighed in relief.
Duncan explained to them the importance of the mission Zander was on. "So guys we are on our own."
The twins walked in along with Chastity, Gabrielle and Timothy.
Gabrielle rushed to her brother's side. "Chastity told me what happened. Will he be ok?" She sobbed.
"I think so Madam beta, Isis is sending help, but for now - we have to handle this ourselves. Let's make our Alpha and Luna proud!" Duncan declared.
"Yeahhhh!" Topher clapped.
"Let's show them we are capable of solving problems - of leading this pack in their absence."
"Preach it, my brother!" Talon beamed.
"Alpha left me in charge and what good am I as fourth in command if I can't deal with a comatose Gerry?"
The werewolves erupted in applause, with Allen knocking on the door for emphasis.
Timothy squeezed Duncan's shoulders, giving him a victorious massage. "Yeah, Zeta - so what's the plan?"
"The plan - let's see," Duncan pondered.
Cleo was the only one who was looking confused. "Fourth in command? Please, have you seen the ranking sheets Z posted lately?"
"Uh, no?" Duncan said.
"Well, according to it, you're now fifth in command," Cleo added.
"What! That's impossible. Who took my spot?"
"I did," Cleo sighed. "I am now the fourth in command."
"Yeah, she's right," Topher agreed.
"So what's the plan, Zeta Cleo?" Talon asked.
"Hey, I am still Zeta," Duncan scoffed.
"Yeah, bro. But not the number 1 Zeta anymore," Topher waved him off.
"With my mate in a coma, I'm not feeling up to leading right now. Duncan should continue."
"Yeah, Cleo is right," Izzy stated. "Let's just get some sleep. I'll need volunteers to keep watch on the patients between intervals."
"I'll keep first watch, you guys get some sleep," Cleo asserted.
"Ok, and then I'll take the next watch," Talon mentioned.
"Ok, but if any problems arise, link me immediately," Izzy warned.
Cleo took her post as the others went to bed.
"Don't fret, Kitten. Gerry will be fine. Just try to get some rest," Zander pulled the blanket over Hazel. Their lovemaking session had weakened her a bit.
Hazel closed her eyes as sleep consumed her.
Zander locked the door behind him and joined the others.
"That was very reckless of you, Alpha. She could have died. I told you two, no strenuous activities, especially after she fought Amy," Isis scolded.
"You're right, Isis."
James continued to drive along the desolate road. "There's nothing up ahead, it's a dead-end," he announced.
"Then we're here," Isis added.
The group piled out of the RV and settled on the icy trail.
"What now?" Zander asked.
"Now we ask for permission to enter," Isis explained.
"Permission from whom?" Zander questioned.
"From me." The ground shook, sending Zander and the others falling to the grate. Burrowed from beneath the snowy earth rose a white serpent with yellow eyes. His skin is thicker than leather. He stood on his tail, towering over them.
"A fucking talking snake!" Carson yelped.
"I am Salim, the snow serpent who guards the entrance to Serpents Valley. Who is in charge?"
Zander flicked to his feet, then he brushed the snow from his clothes. "I am. My name is Zander and these are my friends," he pointed to the others. "We seek passage through Serpents Valley, we mean no harm."
Salim looked over to them and asked, "Is it just the eight of you?"
"Ye-"
"No, it's nine of us," Julia answered. She knew if Zander lied and said yes, they'd never be granted passage.
"So where's the 9th person?"
"She has been ill, so she is in the vehicle sleeping," Julia answered.
"Someone go and get her. I need to see everyone for myself," Salim hissed.
"Declan, go get the Luna," Carson ordered.
"Luna, eh," Salim's serpent tongue darted out his mouth as a Sinister smile plastered his lips. "I knew some of you are wolves, but a Luna," he hissed. "I guess from the way this one is tense means he's the Alpha, am I right or am I right?" The snake teased.
Zander clenched his fists at his side as he tried to keep calm. "Yes, I am Alpha Zander Knight."
Salim's eyes widened. "Alpha Zander Knight of Wolf's Pond pack?"
Everyone braced for impact. Dimitri got in formation, so did Carson, Ushi and James as they crouched in attack mode.
"Yes," Zander announced plainly.
The serpent erupted in laughter. Then he used his tail and snatched Zander into his body, coiling him into his hold. "Why didn't you say so."
Everybody froze, it was like he was happy to meet Zander.
Hazel and Declan exited the RV. Dimitri wondered what took them so long.
As soon as Hazel noticed the giant snake squeezing the life out of her mate, her body erupted into flames.
"Put. Me. Down," Zander struggled to say.
"Sorry. Sorry," Salim chuckled.
"Let him go!" Hazel ran up to the scene.
"Dear Hecate. Why can't these kids listen?" Isis sneered. "Hazel, calm down. He's ok, the serpent means us no harm."
Hazel paused and looked at the snake lowering Zander to the ground. "I was only giving him a hug," Salim grinned.
"A hug?" Hazel said before her knees gave way. Declan hurried behind her and caught her before she fell. He steadied her on her feet, then he took his jacket off and covered her naked frame. "Thanks, Declan."
"I am Salim and it's so lovely to meet you, Luna," Salim stretched his tail for Hazel to shake.
She hesitantly shook it. "I'm Hazel."
"I can't believe I'm meeting the ones who defeated the dark witches," Salim beamed.
"Wait, you knew Agnes and Agatha?" Isis asked.
"Yes. They used to come here and trade potions for our venom, it was all business until they started requesting more of what we couldn't give. Our venom is like blood. You can give a little at a time, but if you drain too much it weakens us, and we die. Agnes and Agatha didn't care. They needed our venom to control the rogues."
"So serpent's venom is what they used to control the rogues," Isis sighed.
"We banned them from entering our realm, but of course they broke the vails. They killed most of us. Our population is now less than 50," Salim's eyes got sad. "Anyways, our leader, Mullins would have my head if I turned you away. So, you are granted access."
"Thank you, Salim," Zander said.
"Can our RV come?" Carson asked.
"Yes, but you'll have to leave it at the entrance of Serpents Valley."
Salim lifted his tail and a sharp needle-like bone extended from his flesh. He swiped it across the air and with swooshing sound, an opening appeared before their eyes.
"Carson, get the RV," Zander ordered.
They waited until Carson started the engines.
"After you," Salim motioned for Zander and his crew to step through. Carson drove the RV behind them, then Salim sealed the rift.
