                    HAZEL'S POV
Salim led us inside, the air was hot and humid, but it wasn't what I was expecting. My eyes roamed around the province, snake couples were strolling holding hands, snake children were playing in the grassland to our left, they looked almost human from their heads to their waists, but had a serpent's tail from their waists down - Like centaurs only instead of half-man half-horse, they were half-man half-snake.
It was a gorgeous town with human-appropriate buildings. There was a marketplace just like ones you'd find in the human world, fresh tomatoes and carrots laid out beautifully with their arrays of colour lined out on stalls. Snake-women conversing and smiling friendly with each other.
We stopped at a garage, a burly snake-man wearing a blue cap with grease stains came out to greet us. "Salim, who are your friends?" He asked, wiping his hand in a red rag.
"This is Alpha Zander and his friends," Salim replied.
His eyes broadened and he strode nearer to us. His eyes were almost ordinary except for his pupils. They looked just like those of a snake. His ears were almost non-existent, just two holes at the sides of his head. His nose, however, was small and button-like and his smile was warm and genuine. "The Alpha Zander?" He questioned in disbelief.
"Yes, Gunter, the Alpha Zander from the Wolf's Pond Pack," Salim chuckled.
Gunter slithered up to Zander, and he draped his arms around him and gave him a mighty hug. "It's nice to meet you. You're a legend around these parts," Gunter explained as he sat Zander on his feet. He ran a hand over his brown knotted hair, my fingers hitched to untangle it.
"In that case, it's nice to meet you too," Zander cleared his throat. "This right here is my wife and mate, Hazel," Zander stretched his hand to me and I hurried and settled beneath his arm.
"Nice to meet you, Gunter."
"It's my pleasure making your acquaintance Luna," Gunter bowed then his eyes swept over my attire. Declan's jacket was so big, it looked like I was wearing a deflated bouncy house, the green windbreaker fell below my knees, hiding the beauty of my curves. "You're not so appealing to the eyes, to be honest," Gunter scratched his head.
Zander grunted, but he didn't say a word to him about it. He introduced him to the others.
"Umm - let's just take you guys to see Mullins," Salim said. "See you later Gunter."
"Yeah, see you later big brother - and why are you still in serpents form?" Gunter inquired.
"Right," Salim sighed. Our eyes landed on the big white serpent. His fingers dug into his skin, peeling it off and dropping the pieces to the floor.
"Oh! My Gosh!" I gasped. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Blood and tissues were tumbling to the ground sizzling in heat as they hit the dirt. Then emerging from behind the snakeskin was a gorgeous half-man. His bottom half was still a snake, but his top half was all masculine and -
"Handsome!" Our heads turned to the person who spoke. Aunt Jules was transfixed on Salim's ripped chest.
"Aunt Jules - are you ok?" I asked. Her face was flushed and her breathing was ragged.
"Yes dear, I am - I just never expected - never mind."
"It's ok beautiful, I find you quite attractive too, but this old serpent's heart belongs to another," Salim chuckled and his gorgeousness showed even more. He kinda looked like Zander if I'm being honest, with the same silky black hair, only his was badly tangled, same straight nose and chiselled jaw, and his eyes were green but slit like a snake, but his lips were even more luscious than Zander's. His ears were the same as his brother's, but I noticed they both have small scales on the sides of their faces. "Is everyone ready, Mullins lives in the biggest house at the end of the street."
"I think I need to change first," I gestured. "Can't meet your leader looking like this."
"Yeah, Kitten. His smell mixed with yours is killing me - Gidian is pissed, he hates that you're wrapped up in his clothes," Zander whispered only for my ears.
"I'm sorry, but it's my fault I overreacted when I saw Salim hugging you, and then my powers got outta hand - "
"It's ok, just let us get you changed," Zander kissed my nose. "At least no one noticed when you were naked but me. I hope you're not embarrassed."
"Not embarrassed at all. I need to get used to being naked if I should ever become a werewolf."
"What? Are you serious Kitten?"
"I've been thinking that even though I don't want to be one now, but I can always change my mind in the future."
"I love you so much, Hazel."
"I love you too."
Salem told Carson to park the RV in the garage for safekeeping. Zander and I made a move towards it when Salim stopped us.
"Alpha Zander, do you mind if I have a word?"
Zander looked at me. "Go, I'll be fine."
He hesitated. "I don't want you out of my sight."
"Go Zander, I'll accompany her," Dimitri interrupted. Zander shot daggers at him with his eyes. Dimitri's palms went up in surrender. "One-word mutt - COUSINS!"
"You're never letting that go," Zander grunted.
"Nope," Dimitri chuckled.
"Alright, Kitten I'll be right out here, shout if you need me," Zander warned, and I nodded my head.
Dimitri and I entered the RV.
Dimitri was giving me a very odd look, he kept staring at me, making me uncomfortable.
"What is it?" I asked annoyed.
"Well, since you asked - what were you and Declan talking about earlier."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me, cousin. Earlier when he was sent to call you - it took you guys a little over ten minutes to exit the RV," Dimitri raised his brow. "What happened? Did you guys - you know," he wiggled his brows at me and I knew exactly what he was implying.
"You're such a fucking pervert. You know I would never do that to Zander - he just told me after we get to the Fae world and I get the help I need, he would leave the pack for good."
"What? Poor Dec - he loves you too much."
"He didn't say that, he just said it was becoming difficult - almost unbearable, he wasn't making much sense."
"Cousin, Declan is my best friend -"
"He is?" I smirked.
"Yes, it surprised me too. However, as his best bro, I am telling you the poor pup has it bad for you, he told me his wolf still believes you're his mate even though he knows you're not."
"I feel so bad."
"I know, but I think it's best if he does leave when all of this is over."
"How can you say that?" I scoffed.
"You do know Zander is planning on killing us?" he asked.
"You're lying."
"No. I've known for a while now. After he found out we kissed you, I saw the changes in his eyes. I think he is planning to kill me with fire and I don't know how he plans to kill Declan."
"This is too much, I need to get dressed." I hurried and got dressed in a white sweater and blue jeans with my white converse.
"Much better Hazel."
"Thanks, now let's go."
We hurried back to the others, and we were just in time to hear what Zander and Salim were talking about.
"So this isn't Serpents Valley?" Zander boomed.
"Calm down Alpha, you're scaring the town folks," Salim smiled as he waved at a few passers-by. "No this town is called Serpentine - none of us has ever been to Serpents Valley and the few elders that had been are dead."
"Fuck! FUCK! Ok then take us to Mullins."
"Ok Alpha."
We followed Salim as he slithered his way down the avenue. The place looked like a regular suburban community. Houses lined the sides of the street. Snake people mowing their lawns and snake children giggling and playing Hide and Go Seek.
My eyes saw a building that looked different from the others. It was a silver skyscraper, and it said, Serpents Corp. A few guard snakes were stationed all around the building. I wondered what they were hiding in there.
"We're here," Salim announced.
It was a white cottage, beautifully decorated with flowers and gnomes. Like what the hell did a snake know about gnomes?
A swing set was in the front lawn and a few toys and go-carts scattered over the front porch.
We knocked at the door and an old snake-woman came to answer the door.
She didn't ask any questions when she saw Salim. We all scurried inside and were led to a sizeable room. An old fellow sat on a high chair eating. He stopped when he heard us come in.
"Welcome to Serpentine!" He spoke, but something about his voice made me shiver.
Aunt Julia tensed, I could tell she read his Aura. She huddled closer to me.
The man took whatever it was he was eating in his hand and he jumped from the highchair and slithered his way over to us. I got a better glimpse of what he was eating, some type of rodent. He licked the flesh clean off the huge rat then he threw the bone to the floor.
"You must be Alpha Zander." He grabbed Zander's palm for a shake. "I'm Mullins, the leader of this town - I hope my son has been treating you hospitable."
"Son?" Zander questioned.
"Yes, my son." He walked over to Salim and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"I am not your son Mullins - I haven't been for many moons now."
"Are you still mad at me for marrying your true mate? That's old news son." The evil snake-man laughed.
"Let's just attend to our guests, I don't need to be here more than I need to."
"Mullins, may I - oh! You have company," A pretty snake-woman made her way inside. Her eyes teared up when she saw Salim. "Hello, Salim," she gulped.
Salim gasped, it's like it was the first time he was seeing her. "Hello, Thelma."
