                    FREDERICK'S POV
'Steele, wake up!' I bellowed in my wolf's ears as I got swept off into his wild dream.
I rubbed his forehead as he lay on his side. His body convulsing vehemently as he whimpered in agony, it wasn't physical pain that was clawing at him, it was emotional pain. I felt it too. 'Shh, it's okay buddy -,' I cooed. I use my fingers and combed through his sliver fur, hoping that my touch was enough to soothe him.
Soon I sensed his body relax and then his breathing followed. 'That's it, buddy, wake up. It's just a bad dream.'
His body jerked awake at my words. His head tilted forward to meet my gaze.
A great mountain of sadness stared back at me through his glossy dark pupils. He snarled, as his snout crinkled while he flashed me his sharp, deadly canines. 'But it is not just a dream, Freddy - she's dead, our mate is dead!'
His words rang through my ears, causing pain to radiate through my soul.
My soul ached as if I were swimming in an ocean of skin melting lava. My cheeks were submerged in tears and my body bathed in a cold sweat as I too awaken from my slumber.
Everything that happened at the Hunter's Ball came crashing down on my head.
I could feel the struggle my muscles and joints endured while my wolf healed my broken bones.
I could tell the sheets were twisted awkwardly around my limbs, evidently from all the thrashing it had done in my healing process.
Still, I kept my eyes closed.
I refused to open them.
I refuse to face this life without her.
My whole body shivered in grief when I remembered my mate and what those hunters did to her.
My wolf's eyebrows furrowed, and my heart skipped a beat when I relived how they just threw her head across the floor like she was nobody - like she was just some insignificant thing.
A tear slipped from my eye when I imagined how hard she must have fought for her life and the life of our unborn pup.
'We will get our revenge, Freddy,' Steele's voice came booming in my head. 'But first we have to find out what this witch knows. Maybe she could help us.'
Right, a witch saved me, but why?
"Do you think he'll be ok?" I heard a woman ask. Her voice sounded concerned, with a bit of sweetness to it.
"I don't know, Miss Gabrielle, but I hope so," A gruff male voice answered.
"Cut the Miss Gabrielle bullshit, Allen. You know you are like seven years older than me," Gabrielle scoffed, and my wolf cursed at himself for almost believing that this girl was super sweet.
"Ok, madam Beta," Allen chuckled.
'Beta?' My wolf questioned. His nose flared as he tried to catch the scent of our surroundings. 'A wolf and a human.' He simply stated as he caught the two persons' scents.
'Yeah, but she's the human, so that means she's mated to the Beta of this pack,' I replied.
I could sense the female's fear and sadness.
"Gabrielle, don't worry, Gerry will be alright. Izzy is with him and Percy right now, making sure he's ok," Allen tried to soothe her.
"Yeah, I hope so," she sighed. "I'm going to check on CJ," she announced, and seconds later I picked up her tiny footsteps leaving.
"Don't worry, Gabrielle. Gerry is stronger than we all think," Allen whispered to himself.
My heart rate quickened as I picked up on the name Gerry. He was the one who told the witch to save me.
"I know you're awake," I heard Allen rumble. His footsteps echoed in my ears as he strode over to where I lay. "Open your eyes," he commanded.
My eyes peeled open, and they came in contact with a muscular face. His brown eyes searched my light grey ones with many questions. "Go ahead, ask me what you must," I told him as I struggled to sit up.
"Easy there," he warned as he gripped my shoulders and helped me up.
My wolf and I sensed no danger.
I looked at Allen. He seemed to have very kind eyes for a badass werewolf.
"Thanks - Allen, is it?" I asked to make sure.
"Yes, Allen Dunbar." He bowed his head.
"I'm Frederick Sullivan," I introduced myself. "Where's the witch that saved me? I need to thank her." I saw Allen flinch.
"Her name is Ingrid, and she is my mate. She's taking rest. The whole ordeal has taken a toll on her."
"Oh, I see." I sighed.
There were a few seconds of pause and I could tell he was doing the same thing my wolf and I were doing.
"So you're a high ranked wolf," he grinned. "What's your rank?"
I chuckled lightly, "I'm an Alpha - well, an Alpha's son. I didn't get to dive into my role of Alpha because of uncanny circumstances."
"Hmm," he rubbed his chin. "Can you elaborate? I promise you can trust me. I mean you and your wolf no harm."
That's when I realized my eyes had been black the whole time. Steele was at my forefront, standing guard.
"My apologies. My wolf and I had been through a lot lately."
"I understand and the wolves at Wolf's Pond pack are here to help you the best way we can - I will mind-link our Alpha to let him know your status, and then we will -"
"Wait," I cut him off. "Did you say Wolf's Pond pack?" I clutched my belly and struggled to stand to my feet.
"Yes," Allen answered. He gave me a quizzical look.
"That means I'm on Alpha Zander Knight's territory. Where is he? Tell him that Frederick Sullivan, son of Alpha Rufus Sullivan of the Silver Wolf pack, is here."
Allen's eyes lit up. "You're - you're Alpha Rufus' son?"
"Yes, I am."
"Well, I'll be dammed. How's the old-timer doing?" He asked with a bright smile.
"Not so good, Allen - he was killed a few months ago when rogues and dark witches attacked our pack. I am the only survivor."
"Shit, I'm sorry man. Your father was a strong and wise Alpha and so was Beta Elijah. He was also very wise and understanding. They could have started a war with us when that mad she-wolf Amy skinned Beta Elijah's daughter alive."
I cringed when he mentioned Brenda. She was my best friend and the best tracker in our pack.
"Yeah. May Brenda's soul continues to rest in paradise with the Moon Goddess," I huffed. "So where is the big bad demon wolf?"
Allen filled me in on a few things taking place.
"Holy Moon Goddess - I've been in the human world for far too long. I didn't know about a war brewing. I thought the attack on my pack was just random."
"No, Freddy. The Dark Witches are forming an uprising against us. They have themed up with the Hunters. They intend to eradicate the earth of all supernatural creatures."
"And the dark witches trust the hunters?"
"I don't think so, but the dark witches always wanted to be the most powerful supernatural beings in the universe. So, they assume with killing all of us, they stand a chance."
"Those nasty fuckers," I spat.
