                    FREDERICK'S POV
There was another long pause.
"Freddy, tell me everything you learned at the Hunter's gathering."
I told Allen all I remembered, even the sickening part about injecting werewolf blood into their veins to gain our strength.
"That's crazy!" Allen exclaimed.
"I know. It's like they're some weird cult and their leader is the Devil himself. From what I gathered, their leader, the Highlord hates us supernatural. He or she wants to rid the universe of us."
"But we don't interfere in human affairs unless it's absolutely necessary. These hunters have gotten even crazier as the years go by," Allen sighed.
"Tell me about it," I blew out a breath.
"Well, if they are a threat to us, then our Alpha won't stop until all of them are dead," Allen said.
"When I get the chance to speak to Alpha Zander, I need to tell him he can slaughter them all, but there is one sick, sadistic bastard that my wolf and I must kill ourselves."
"Ok, I think that can be arranged," Allen replied.
My wolf was grinning inside. 'Bernard Delaware is ours for the picking.'
GERARD'S POV
"Cleo, my pretty princess, if you don't let me go, I'm afraid you will squeeze me to death," I chuckled against her smooth cheek. She was holding me so tight that my head felt like it was about to explode.
"I'm sorry, I'm just glad you're ok," she sniffled as she pulled away. Her eyes looked tired, and I could tell she had been stressed lately.
I knew I was the cause of her stress. I brushed my thumb across her face, sweeping a fibre of her hair behind her ear. "I assure you, my love. I'm ok now." She closed her eyes tightly and nodded her head.
I discovered tiny footsteps moving our way. I felt their heartbeat racing in their chest. Gabrielle slowly turned the doorknob and poked her head inside. "Izzy, can I come in?"
Before Izzy could reply, I answered for her. "Of course, you can come in punk," I laughed.
Gabrielle busted through the door and rushed up to where I sat. She heaved herself into my arms, almost knocking the life outta me. "I'm so glad you're ok, Gerry," she sobbed into my chest.
"Wait, are you crying?" I seized her by the shoulders and nudged her back, so I could look at her face. I cupped her chin. "I'm ok, little sis."
"Yes, I see that from the smug expression on your face," she wiped her eyes with the tail of her hand. Then she straightened her frame and slapped me across my face.
"Ouch! Why the hell did you do that?"
Izzy paid us no mind as she examined me and Percy through the distractions.
When she was in pack-doctor mode she was very professional.
"How can you be so stupid, Gerry? Staying back alone like that with no backup. What if you'd die? How would CJ live without knowing his uncle?" She was firing at me, and she was not letting up. "And poor Cleo, she would have to raise that baby herself and -"
I zoned Gabrielle out after that. I rose to my feet, and I looked at Cleo, who was blushing crimson and staring at her feet. "Cleo, is that true?"
It was at that moment that Percy took a deep whiff.
'Yes, it's true. I smell our pup inside her.'
"Yes Gerry, I found out yesterday, but I wanted you to focus on the mission, so that's the reason I kept it from you."
"So, I'm gonna be a dad?" I grinned.
"Yes Gerry," she smiled her dazzling smile.
I strode up to her and kissed her gently. "You've just made me the happiest man ever."
"Ok, there will be enough time for all of this later," Izzy finally spoke. "Now Gerry, the witches told us you were injected with an extremely powerful memory wiping elixir, so I must ask, how did you fight its properties?"
"To be honest, not even my love or memories for Cleo could have stopped the potion from wiping my memories - but the love and the need to protect my little sister fought the power of the potion and I regained most of my memories."
"Aww, I feel the same way about our little sister, bro. Gizelle is lucky to have us," Gabrielle beamed.
"Yes, she is lucky and I love her dearly. But it was my love for you, Gabz that kept my mind intact." She looked at me in surprise. "Gabz you remember that day I promised to protect you forever and that I'll never forget you?"
"That was when you were heading away to college and I felt like you were gonna forget about me."
"Well, it broke my heart to leave you alone, and I meant it when I say I will always have your back."
Gabrielle walked up to me, her face twisted into something ugly as she cried again. "Fuck you Gerry, for making me cry for the umpteenth time today."
"I love you too, sis." I chuckled as I embraced her once more.
She pulled away, and then she left to go get some rest. She, too, was tired.
The room was quiet as Izzy examined me again to see if I was alright. But the tension was stifling. "What is it?" I asked.
Cleo came to sit next to me, and Izzy folded her arms across her chest as she stood in front of me.
"Babe, you said that you regained most of your memories. What did you mean by that?"
"Honestly, the last 24 to 48 hours have been a blur," I sighed.
"So you remember nothing about the Hunter's ball?" Izzy inquired.
"I kinda remember a few things, like Ingrid kissing me," I cleared my throat and Bernard injecting himself with werewolf's blood - wait, is the wolf ok?"
"Yes, he'll survive," Izzy explained. "So is this Bernard the Highlord?"
Right, the Highlord. The white door. I tried to remember. There was warm liquid dripping from my nose. "I can't remember him - but for some reason, I feel like I know the person somehow."
"Know him? Like someone you've met before?" Cleo asked while she cleaned the blood from my face.
"Yes, someone I know pretty well, too."
"Don't stress yourself, Gerry. You and Percy will remember who it is soon," Cleo kissed my cheek.
"Wait! Something is coming back to us," I stated, as Percy fought to tap into our sense of smell. That's when it hit me.
The aroma of olive oil and cigar.
"What is it, Gerry?" Izzy questioned.
"We might not remember the Highlord's face, but I will be able to identify him by his scent."
"You have his scent?" Cleo cupped my face.
"Yes I do and I think I will see this fucker sooner rather than later."
Cleo and Izzy looked at each other. They seemed a little frightened.
Who could have known that the Highlord could be someone closer to home than we thought?
