                    DECLAN'S POV
"Yes, I just need a few ingredients, maybe we can get one of them right now," Isis answers. "I think Cedella can help us out with a tooth or two from a banshee," Isis finished.
"A banshee?" Zander asked. "Those spirits are rare."
"I know," Isis added. "But Cedella here is a banshee."
Zander's head snapped to look at her.
"If this is true, it explains why he was the only one affected by her screams," he said, referring to Major Skully. "A banshee is a predictor of death. If someone is about to enter a situation where it is unlikely they will come out alive, she will warn people by screaming or wailing." Zander explained. "And only the person who is predicted to die can hear the wails of a banshee."
"And nobody has ever survived their fate of death after hearing my scream," Cedella let out with a smirk on her face. "In this case, it would be permanent death."
"You ungrateful bitch! After everything I did for you," Skully spat, slowly rising from the ground.
"You did this to me!" The banshee wailed. "You befriended me, promising safety for me and my unborn child!"
We all stood there and listened to the quarrelling couple. "No!" Skully shouted. "I saved you both, and I'm still trying to protect the child."
"My child has a name."
"Tia is safe from King Lucifer because of me," Skully spoke softly. "I'm sorry if you felt I betrayed you in some way, it was not my intention—I just wanted what he promised me."
"So you are working for King Lucifer," Zander intercepted.
"I work for no one but myself, Alpha," Skully talked with disdain.
I knocked the bone man with the scythe. "Watch how you talk to my Alpha, asshole."
Cedella stood tall again. "And what did he promise you this time? First, he said he'd grant you more power if you helped him cross the magical veils into the Fae world, and when you did he went back on his agreement. Now, what is it? Tell me! What has King Lucifer promised you that you couldn't resist betraying me and my daughter?" tears pooled in the banshee's eyes. "You were my friend, and I trusted you even though everyone told me not to trust you because you are a Lich, but somehow I didn't care. I thought I had finally met someone to listen to my problems for once. But you tricked me."
Skully looked down at his feet. "He was only supposed to befriend you, so you could open the gates to the Fae World. He was never supposed to —," Skully trailed off.
"It doesn't matter now." Cedella wiped her eyes.
The rest of us were lost.
"I'm sorry to intrude on whatever this conversion is about, but we need to get going," James declared. That's when we all noticed Julia crying.
"Aunt Jules," Hazel ran to her side. "Are you OK?"
"Yes, it's just Cedella's heartache is so strong it's triggering for me. I can feel everything she's feeling, and I can't handle this right now. What Abraham did to me and what King Lucifer did to her," Julia sniffled. "Men are evil, doesn't matter which worlds they are from. They are all the same."
We gave Julia some time to weep. "Everything will be OK aunt." Hazel comforted her.
"Yes, I know, sweat pea. But what I just learned about Cedella is vital information that you all need to know. Do you want to tell them the rest of the story, Cedella?"
Cedella nodded her head then took a deep breath. "About twelve years ago, I was doing patrols making sure that each realm's portals were still sealed and everything was OK among the people of each supernatural town when I met Major Skully. He approached me trying to sell me some pipe dream about giving a select few creatures the go-ahead to visit the human world, but of course, I shot it down."
"You had the power to do that?" Zander asked.
"Yes, I was a portal fairy. I designed and created every portal in existence, even the ones the witches use," Cedella answered.
"The fairy that made my portals is Queen Magdalena's daughter, Opal," Isis sounded sceptical.
"My name was Opal-Cedella before I became a banshee," Cedella sighed and Isis gasped when the realization hit her. "Yes, I was Queen Magdalena's daughter."
"So how did you become like this?" Hazel wanted to know.
"Well, Skully and I developed some sort of friendship. I didn't trust him at first, but his trickery ways had me fooled. My portal ruby got stolen in Dead Man's Cave by a ghost clown, and Skully was the one who found it and returned it to me. He could have used it and gone to the human world, but he didn't and that's how he gained my trust.," she paused before she continued.
"I visited him more times than I should have until he mentioned he wanted me to meet someone. A few days later, he introduced me to a striking man with a powerful appeal. His name is King Lucifer, and I quickly fell in love with him, soon I was bringing him home with me to the Fae World in hopes my mother would allow us to wed. My mother's best friend caught the attention of Lucifer."
My skin crawled at his name.
"He was fascinated by her for some reason, and I got jealous. My mother, however, did not like nor trust Lucifer, so she told us he was not welcome there any more. I felt betrayed by my mother, even though I was younger than my brother, I would have inherited the Fae World since we consider mother nature a female. I did everything my Queen mother requested of me. I never disobeyed her. I trained and studied hard and all I asked was to marry the man I loved. But she refused to bless our union."
"So did Lucifer leave?" I inquired.
"Not at first. He wanted to appeal his case, so out of respect for me, my mother agreed. Lucifer said he needed some space to think, so I left him alone in my chamber. Hours later I realized he was gone along with my portal ruby and my mother's best friend." Cedella scowled.
"So that bitch ran off with your man!" Hazel was appalled.
"Actually, he kidnapped her, but he didn't get too far. The portal ruby he stole was a decoy. My mother's best friend could see the future, although she said she wasn't a witch. So, she saw what Lucifer had up his sleeves. My mother was expecting us before we turned up at her feet."
Hazel and James looked at each other. "What was your mother's best friend's name?" James questioned.
"Lucinda."
