                    ISIS' POV
There is a scream of the mouth and lungs, and then there is a scream of the eyes and soul. But these damn banshees were screaming with their every might.
It was the kind of scream that bypassed the ears, so it could speak right to the heart.
Their piercing howls of death almost blew a hole in my chest with an ice-cold magnum.
The searing agony caused my vision to blur. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't move, and my head was spinning, threatening to shut down altogether.
My ears popped with a crack so loud it echoed through me, sending more ripples of pain to my already bleeding brain. My head spun violently now, and I tried to move. I opened my eyes just in time to see Zander fighting off two of the banshees.
I looked up, and I saw the other four ghastly figures encircling me, like sharks circling their prey. One of them hovered closer to me, with her eyes gouging out and bloodied from crying.
She had a sickening grin plastered over her face.
"We're just messengers. This isn't personal." The one Zander had in a choke hold spoke.
The one that was in front of me held a finger out as caution for the others to stop their wails. It was a good thing because everything around me was spinning by then, spiralling into a black nothingness. I almost passed out, until I felt arms picking me up.
"It's OK, Isis. I've got you," the concerned voice of Zander let out.
Even though the banshees had stopped screaming, my ears appeared heavy and had an endless ringing going off deep inside.
"I should kill you all," Zander grunted to the banshees, who were just hovering over us still.
"We just came to pass on the message. We shall take our leave now. The heavens are calling us," one of them explained.
"Put me down, Alpha," I exhaled. My muscles slowly feel free again.
"But -"
"But nothing, Zander. We have a mission to carry out," I almost stumbled when I was placed on my feet. Zander stretched his palm to catch me, but I warned him off.
The banshees started to leave one by one. I called to the last one. "When will it be?" I asked.
She paused, then turned to face me. "I don't know the exact day or time, but your death is coming," she told me before she floated away with the others.
Oh well, we all have to die sometime.
I looked around at everyone's faces, and I rolled my eyes.
"Oh c'mon children, there shall be no tears. I'm not dead yet," I scoffed as I walked towards the house. "Why are you all standing there still? Let's get going!" I ordered.
Declan and James lifted the coffin as we made our way to Tia's room, and I could taste the gloominess the others were giving off. It was irritating the witch out of me.
We entered the child's room, and we noticed she was playing with her hellhounds.
She looked up and studied at her mother with awe.
"Go ahead, Tia. Open the door," Cedella instructed her daughter.
"Mummy, you look different."
"I know. This is how mummy looked before she died," Cedella told her.
The little girl grinned, then she rubbed her hands over the invisible hellhounds and whispered in their ears.
We heard the heavy movements of paws over the floor. We sought closely as eight paw prints sunk in the floorboard, then there was a click and a staircase leading south appeared.
Cedella then stooped to her daughter. "Now baby, you know mummy loves you with all her heart and soul, but we have to leave this place now. You will go somewhere that has lots of sunshine and candies. All the things you love."
"Where?" Tia asked with curious eyes.
"We are going to the Fae world, where mummy is from and where you belong."
"Can Bulldozer and Mongrel come?"
"No, honey, they can't."
The hellhounds barked in sadness.
"Don't worry, child, I will take care of them," Lance added. "My children will be surprised when I take home these new pets as gifts for being gone for so long," Lance smiled at the child.
"So if I leave, does that mean I cannot come here again?" Tia got teary-eyed.
"Well, sweetheart, it is against the rules, but maybe one day when you're older you can come visit with your grandmother's permission."
"My grandmother?" The child's eyes widened. She seemed to be focused on this bit of information now.
"Yes. I will tell you about her on the way to the river."
"OK."
"Cedella," Zander said. "Who will lead this town now that Skully is dead, and you will be leaving?"
"I think Lance will be the right ghoul to do the job," Cedella declared.
"Who, me?" Lance asked, stunned.
"Yes, you. You are perfect to manage this place and keep the inhabitants safe."
And we all agreed with Cedella. Lance beamed with pride as she promised to be the best leader he can be.
"This is where my journey ends," Lance sighed. He shook Zander's hand first. "Anytime you need the help of Dead Man's Cave, I will be at your service."
Zander thanked Lance and slid down the steps of the tunnel. Tia ran behind him, refusing to look at her dogs, who were bowling in pain.
"Goodbye Lance, take care of yourself," Cedella bid her goodbyes, then she floated in the tunnels after Tia.
Hazel hugged Lance before she took her leave.
James and Julia nodded to the ghoul, while Declan gave him a fist bump.
James and Declan lifted the coffin as they descended into the tunnel.
"Ta-ta," Dimitri hailed from Declan's shoulder.
"Catch you later," Carson stated.
"Sorry about your finger," Julia smiled before she left as well.
"Goodbye, Lance," I said my farewell.
"Wait!" he hailed to me and I paused. "Your mother, she was a good woman and I know you are a decent woman too. So thank you." he gave me two banshee teeth that fell out on the grass outside, plus some more of that special coin. I accepted them and placed them in my witch bag.
I nodded my head and then made my way down into the underpasses.
The others were waiting for me at the edge of the steps.
