"Should I just smear it over it now?" Zoey asked and Ozone nodded his head.
Zoey hurriedly daubed the merman's saliva over the dragon's opened wound. The dragon hissed and flipped over on its back. The healing immediately kicked in.
"Move, let me help," Prudence scoffed, dropping to her knees next to Zoey. She dug into her knee-length socks and grabbed a tiny sewing kit. Everyone looked at her with questioning glares. "What? I always come prepared." The witch ran the thread through the needle, and from the looks of them, they were of magical origin. "I don't know if you understand me, but you have to change to your human form," Prudence told him. The dragon snarled, baring its sharp teeth, blowing fumes from his nostrils as he prepared himself for the pain that will come once he goes back to his smaller form.
In a glow that was so bright, it hurt their eyes. The dragon transformed back into his meat suit.
"Holy mother of hell!" He raved, biting down hard on his bottom lip as saliva leaked down his chin.
"Hold still," Prudence warned, then she used her fingers to clutch the wound together, and with precision, she began to stitch him up. It was an elongated wound, and with every stitch, they noticed the thread was disappearing. "There, all done," Prudence whispered as she knotted the end of the thread.
"How did you do that?" Zoey asked.
"I am a healer. I can conjure up items to help with one's healing at will, but I'm afraid whatever Lucifer has been doing to us is draining my powers. I'm afraid that was all I had left."
"Argh," the dragon grunted as he shifted into a sitting position. "That's the name of the being who took me from the Dragon Realm."
All eyes fell on the Dragon. "What is your name?" Titus asked him.
"I am Ignatholon The Lavatongue, but my people call me Igna for short," he explained, trying to get up to his feet, but the pain wouldn't let him. He stumbled.
"Easy, you are still healing." Zoey pressed her hand on his chest to help ease him back down.
"You don't understand. I have to get back to my realm. I overheard Lucifer reciting his plan when he rode my dragon over the clouds. He said the Chosen One and his mate were on a journey to find the Tether."
"The what?" Zoey and the others were confused. "What is that?"
"I do not know myself, but he said the Tether is the only person who knows every detail and occurrence of the Prophecy. Every important date, death, and birth. He said someone sent word to him that there was a Tether, and he thinks it is a hybrid. He thinks the Tether is one of us, his captives."
"And he thinks my brother and his mate are close to finding this Tether. Unbelievable." Zoey recited.
"So I guess we all agree that Zoey is the Tether," Prudence nodded. "They are trying to find her."
"But I know nothing. Shit, I didn't even know my brother had found his mate until Ozone showed up here."
"Yes, Isis mentioned it to me when she came to visit my castle some months ago," Ozone declared. "She said the Prophecy had begun and that The Chosen One and his mate had completed their mating bond."
Before Zoey could respond, a raging, mad she-wolf clutched Ozone by the throat. "You must have heard wrong, fish sickle. I am Alpha Zander's true mate," Amy's red eyes burnt hot with hatred as her mechanical fingers pinched into Ozone's neck.
"That's enough, Amy!" Zoey growled, using the little strength she had left to pull the crazy she-wolf off the merman.
"Let go of me," Amy flashed Zoey off. She released her hold on Ozone and stared her attention at Zoey. "It's a good thing you are my sister-in-law, or else I'd skin you alive and feed your heart to your mate." She cackled and Zoey froze. "Rumour has it, you are fully mated to that scrumptious vampire prince, Dimitri."
"You shut your mouth!" Zoey yelled.
"Is this true?" Titus asked and Zoey nodded her head, yes. "That makes you the first werewolf-vampire hybrid."
"I don't know about that." Zoey sighed.
"What do you mean?" Prudence questioned. "You survived the turn. You are here aren't you?"
"Yes, but she lost her wolf in the process," Amy released a menacing laugh. "Oh, I'm sorry, was that a secret too?"
"You bitch. My brother must have been high when he fucked you, you lunatic."
"Watch your mouth," Amy smacked her across the cheek. "I will be your Luna soon after I kill Hazel and break the spell she has over my love. You will learn to respect me."
"Over my dead body."
"That can be arranged," Amy's eyes turned red.
"Enough," Igna grumbled. "We are so sorry, Luna Amy, for Zoey's disrespect. But can you ask King Lucifer if we can get some food to eat? Meat especially."
Amy softened. "Well, I'm glad one of you has some ounce of sense and knows that I deserve the utmost respect. I will see what I can do." She growled at Zoey before she retreated.
"So you're a hybrid," Ozone mused. "Very interesting."
"Yes I am, but something must have gone wrong because I haven't felt my wolf since Dimitri turned me." Zoey's voice broke. "I think Malia is dead."
"No, I don't think she is." Freya declared. "Weak, yes, but dead, no."
"So you two knew she was a hybrid," Titus accused the two witches.
"Yes, I sensed it the first time I laid eyes on her," Prudence confessed. "And I agree with Freya. You just need to trust yourself and call your wolf's name."
"I tried for years, but nothing."
"Someone's coming," Ozone spoke, picking up on the footsteps heading towards them.
"Maybe it's Amy with the food," Titus wondered.
"No, this footstep is heavier and more uniform. I think it's King Lucifer." Ozone declared.
"Everyone back in the shadows," Zoey whispered. "And stay quiet."
Igna lay still in human form, while the two giants huddled close to each other, trembling in fear.
The others did what Zoey said. Into the shadows, they slipped and waited for evil to present itself.
