I fumed! How could they just take my money like that? Stomping my feet, I chased after them, determined to get my stuff back.
Rowan led us to a fancy hotel room. The door shut with a loud click, and suddenly we were the two of us alone. Everything changed with Rowan.
His voice got really low and sexy, like a growl.
"So, what does it mean when a lady follows a man to his room?" he said, walking closer.
My face turned bright red, and I scrambled back. "Rowan, what are you doing?" I stammered.
Instead of answering, he kept coming closer until I was stuck against the wall. He was so close I could feel his heat.
"I asked you something, Catrina," he whispered, his breath tickling my ear.
"What happens when you're alone with a man in his room?"
My heart thumped like a drum. Part of me wanted to melt into him, to follow his lead. But another part, the smart part, knew this was a trick.
Taking a deep breath, I reached into his pocket and grabbed the velvet bag with my money.
"Actually," I said, holding it up, "I think this belongs to me."
Rowan's eyes sparkled with playfulness.
"Hey, give it back!" he said, reaching for the bag. I run away, giggling.
We started wrestling, not trying to hurt each other, but just trying to get the bag. We rolled around on the soft bed, laughing. Finally, I managed to hold him down with me on top.
"I win!" I said, trying not to notice how good it felt to be so close to him.
Rowan didn't seem to mind being stuck under me. He looked at me with a hot, hungry look in his eyes.
"I've been wanting this for so long," he said in a deep voice. His hands moved up my legs to hold me close.
"Having you right here..."
Before I could understand what he said, he quickly moved close to me and kissed me passionately. I felt weak and leaned into his embrace, dropping the bag to the floor.
When I finally managed to pull away, I asked, 'Wait... Did you already have sex with Isabelle earlier?'
To my surprise, Rowan laughed loudly.
“Isabelle? Do you think I would stoop so low as to be with her?” He shook his head, amused.
“I have never even touched her, and I never will.”
I blinked, taken aback by his denial. "But...that day we met in the suite, you looked like you'd just had sex—"
"'Yes, I had,' he agreed. 'But not with Isabelle. Just some random human girl I quickly seduced.'"
I pulled away, feeling disgusted. How could he use women so casually like that?
Rowan seemed to sense my disgust.
His expression became more serious as he reached for me. "Catrina, wait..."
"Don't touch me," I snapped, batting his hand away and glaring at him.
"I can't believe I was starting to fall for your ridiculous lines."
He sighed and ran a hand through his messy hair. "You don't understand. Things are different for me now that I've found you."
His gaze dropped to my rounded belly under my uniform. "This child... our child... changes everything."
Carefully, he reached out and placed his hand on my stomach, gently rubbing circles on the fabric.
"You can't imagine how much I want you, Catrina. How badly I need to be inside you…"
His heated words caught me off guard, and my body reacted, even though I was confused.
Part of me wanted to give in and let Rowan claim me as his mate. But the rest of me knew it was too soon, that there were still too many unanswered questions between us.
I was about to voice my doubts when the door suddenly burst open with a loud crash.
Isabelle stood in the doorway, her face twisted with anger as she took in the scene before her.
"You dirty liar!" Isabelle yelled clearly drunk, pointing a finger at Rowan.
"I knew you were seeing this...this omega tramp behind my back!"
Rowan jumped up, not relaxed anymore. He stood in front of me to protect me from Isabelle's anger.
"Get out of here," he growled, his voice deep and powerful. "Before I kick you out myself."
Isabelle was so jealous and angry, she didn't listen. She screamed and lunged at me, her fancy nails reaching for my face.
Everything seemed to slow down. Rowan and I got ready for the attack. But just before she hit me, a flash of chestnut hair jumped in front of us. It was Derek! He grabbed Isabelle's wrist really tight.
"That's enough," Derek growled, his eyes flashing as he restrained the she-wolf.
"You need to learn some respect."
Isabelle kept yelling curses and threats at us. I was speechless, totally shocked.
I thought I finally understood what was going on, but then something else happened that changed everything again.
The room felt super tense as Derek pulled Isabelle toward the door. She kept screaming like crazy.
Rowan stood in front of me, his muscles tight, trying not to get too angry.
"Get off me, you mutt!" Isabelle yelled, fighting against Derek's strong grip.
For a second, she looked scared, but then she just got mad again.
"You'll be sorry for this!" she threatened, glaring at Rowan and me with pure hate.
"Both of you will pay!"
Derek didn't listen. He just grabbed her and carried her out of the room. The door slammed shut with a loud bang.
Everything got quiet, but it still felt weird, like something bad could still happen.
Rowan turned slowly towards me. He looked tired, his shoulders slumped, and he ran a hand through his messy hair.
"You okay?" he asked, his voice shaky.
He didn't sound mad anymore, just really worn out.
I just nodded, not trusting myself to speak.
I couldn't look at him because I kept picturing what just happened between us. My face burned hot, and I wished my body wouldn't act so weird.
Rowan sighed softly. I peeked up at him and he was staring at me with a confused look.
"We need to talk," he finally said, pointing to the spot next to him on the bed.
Hesitantly, I sat down on the very edge, holding my hands together in my lap. There was a weird space between us now, even though we were close before.
It felt awkward, like there were a million questions hanging in the air.
"I know I messed up before," Rowan started slowly, looking me right in the eyes.
"But things were different back then before I met you… again." He looked a little softer now, and he almost touched my stomach.
"You changed everything, Catrina. You gave me a reason to be a better person."
I bit my lip. His words made me want to believe him, but I wasn't sure.
"How can I know you're telling the truth?" I asked, trying to sound strong.
"What if you're just saying what you think I want to hear?"
Rowan's jaw clenched a little, and he leaned in close. His eyes were so intense, it took my breath away.
"Think about it," he said. "Would I lie about something this important? Our baby?"
He gently put his hand on my belly, and it felt like a special connection between us.
I squeezed my eyes shut because his words sounded so real.
Finally, I whispered, "I really want to trust you, Rowan. But I need some time to think about everything that just happened." I remembered what happened with Isabelle.
Rowan looked where I was looking and chuckled a little.
"Don't worry about Isabelle," he said.
"She's just jealous because she can't have me. Like a spoiled kid who wants a toy she can't get." His grin changed into a sweet smile, and he cupped my face with his hand.
"But you, Catrina, you already have my heart. And I want you in my future, even if I'm not perfect."
Rowan's voice sounded unsure, and it made me want to give in. I leaned against his hand, liking how strong and warm it felt.
I could almost picture myself living with him forever, even though he's kind of intense and complicated. He makes me feel super excited and calm at the same time, which is weird.
But then I remembered what Marcus said about me.
If I told Rowan the truth about myself, wil everything between us could be ruined?
I took a deep breath and moved away, forcing a smile. "Thanks for being patient, Rowan. But I think I should go back to my room for a while...to figure some things out."
Rowan looked a little sad for a second, but then he nodded. "Sure, I get it. I'll be waiting wherever you feel ready.”
He stopped for a moment, and his eyes looked hopeful again. "No matter how long it takes, I'll be here, Catrina. You and the baby are everything to me now."
I couldn't even speak. My throat felt tight, filled with a bunch of confusing feelings.
to act normal, I slipped out of the room. I could practically feel Rowan staring at me as I left.
Everything looked blurry as I walked down the hall. My head spun with doubts and mixed-up feelings.
We both felt this strong connection, and I almost didn't care about what might happen next…
