                    Catrina POV:
I woke up with a headache. The last thing I remembered was going to sleep in my room at the hotel after the big ceremony where Rowan officially became Alpha.
But this place didn't look like my little room.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. Giant windows showed green trees and fields outside. Where was I?
My heart started beating faster as I realized I was alone in this strange place. I touched my belly gently to comfort the baby. How long had I been asleep?
Just then, the door opened with a creak. I turned and saw Carson from Isabelle's pack standing there.
"You're awake," he said.
"Where am I?" I asked, scared. "Why did you bring me here?"
Carson walked over calmly. "Don't worry, you're in the Mondragon pack mansion now."
My head spun. "Why would you take me here? And how did I even get here without remembering?"
Carson frowned a little. "I'm sorry, but Isabelle ordered me to bring you here safely. We couldn't risk you running away before joining our pack."
"Joining your pack?" I cried. "Isabelle said I had to work for her, not live with you all alone!"
Carson sighed. "Well, you agreed to her deal, remember? And besides, it was the only way to keep you and the pup protected."
“Protected from what? From Rowan and the Magnus pack?" My heart broke as I thought of Rowan. "Please tell me what happened at the ceremony!"
"It's probably all done by now," Carson said carefully.
"The pack merging went smoothly after Isabelle took control of the situation. Last I heard, Alpha Rowan and Alpha Isabelle were celebrating their union."
"No!" I screamed, tears filling my eyes.
"That's not true! Rowan would never want Isabelle, he loves me!"
My whole body shook as I cried. Rowan promised he would keep our family safe, and that he loved me. But now he was celebrating with that evil woman instead?
I heard Carson sigh again.
"Look, I know this is hard. But try to relax for the baby's sake, okay? The pack declared you an unmated breeder now, so you have to abide by the rules."
"Rules?" I spat between sobs. "You kidnapped me and drugged me! Where's the rules in that?"
"I'm sorry we had to bring you here against your will," Carson said gently.
"But you know as well as I do that Rowan couldn't protect you from Marcus forever. This really is for the best."
I looked at Carson with fire in my eyes. "No, it's not! Rowan would never abandon me and our child. Tell me what really happened!"
Carson stayed silent for a long time.
Finally, he whispered, "I'm sorry, Catrina. But you need to accept reality now. Rowan made his choice, and it wasn't you."
His words cut like knives. I couldn't accept that Rowan would betray me, not after everything we shared. There had to be more to the story.
"Please," I begged Carson, my voice shaking.
"I need to know the truth. Did Rowan really choose Isabelle over me?"
Carson looked unsure for once. He opened his mouth like he might say something, but then closed it again.
"I'm sorry," he repeated. "But it's best if you just move on from Rowan and live here peacefully from now on."
I grabbed his arm as he turned to leave.
"Carson, please! I need to understand what's happening." Tears were streaming down my face once more.
Carson gently removed my hand. "I'm sorry, but that's all I can say. Try to rest and take care of the baby. Someone will bring you food soon."
Then he hurried out the door, closing it firmly behind him. I crumpled to the soft bed feeling completely alone and lost.
Rowan couldn't have abandoned me...could he?
I don't know how long I cried after Carson left. All I could think about was Rowan and our special moments together.
The way he looked at me, held me, promised we'd be a family.
It didn't make sense for him to choose Isabelle over me. We were true mates, bonded for life.
Rowan told me that so many times, with such sincerity in his eyes.
There had to be more to the story than what Carson said. But how could I find out the truth locked up here alone?
As night fell, my tears finally dried up, leaving me with a dull ache in my chest and puffy eyes. I gently stroked my swollen belly, trying to soothe our restless baby inside.
"It'll be okay, little one," I whispered in a shaky voice. "Mama won't let anything bad happen to you, I promise."
Just then, a soft knock came at the door.
"Come in," I called out, hoping it was Carson returning with answers.
But the person who entered wasn't Carson. It was a young female wolf I'd never seen before, carrying a tray laden with food.
"Hello, Miss Catrina," she said shyly, setting the tray on a table.
"I brought you some soup and bread. Beta Carson said you might be hungry."
My stomach rumbled at the delicious smells, but I wasn't really in the mood to eat.
"Thank you," I said anyway. "What's your name?"
The girl smiled gently. "I'm Dakota. I help out around the mansion as an omega."
"It's nice to meet you, Dakota," I replied, touched by her kindness.
After setting out the meal, Dakota lingered by the door as if wanting to say more.
"Um, Catrina? I know things seem bad now. But it'll get better, I promise!"
I gave her a small smile. "Thanks. I hope you're right."
Dakota grinned and slipped away, leaving me to eat alone. The food helped distract me from my swirling thoughts for a little while.
But as the night deepened, loneliness set back in. I tossed and turned for what seemed like hours, unable to shut off my mind.
What if Rowan really had abandoned me like Carson said? What would become of our baby and me now, trapped here among strangers?
