Isabelle POV:
I walked through the fancy halls of the Mondragon mansion, feeling a bunch of things at once. Relief, confusion, and a little bit of worry were all mixed up inside me.
Rowan Magnus, the guy I used to think was just a inconvenience, was back.
And not only that, but he was here at my place, being taken care of by Catrina, the omega who stole his heart.
I stopped outside the room where Rowan was resting, taking a deep breath to think things through. This whole situation was super messy.
But I had made a choice, and I was gonna stick to it.
Taking a deep breath, I pushed open the door and walked in. Catrina looked up at me, both nervous and mad at the same time. I couldn't really blame her – I hadn't exactly been nice to her before.
"Catrina," I said, trying to sound calm. "How's he doing?"
She held Rowan’s hand tighter.
“He’s resting,” she answered. “Grandma Rosa says he’s getting better, but needs time.”
I nodded, looking at Rowan. He seemed so weak now, not like the strong alpha I remembered.
“Good,” I murmured. “I’m glad he’s okay now that he’s back with us.”
Catrina’s eyes narrowed. “What do you mean, Isabelle?”
I didn’t sigh, even though I wanted to. She didn’t trust me. “I mean it, Catrina. Rowan is important to this pack. I don’t want him hurt.”
“Even after everything?” she challenged.
I had to admire her loyalty to Rowan. “Yes, even after everything,” I replied. “I know I haven’t been nice to either of you. But that’s going to change.”
Catrina was surprised. “Change? How?”
I stepped closer. “I want to make things right, Catrina. I want us to work together, to forget the past and focus on the future.”
Before she could answer, Beta Carson came in. He looked back and forth between us, suspicious.
“Alpha Isabelle,” he said, nodding his head. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”
I stood up straight. “I came to check on Rowan. And to talk to Catrina.”
Carson’s eyes narrowed.
“I see.” He glanced at Rowan. “And how is the…omega doing caring for him?”
I could feel Catrina tense up, ready to defend herself. But I spoke first.
“Catrina’s been taking excellent care of Rowan,” I said firmly. “She’s staying with him while he recovers.”
Carson frowned. He started to protest but I stopped him.
“I know this is unusual,” I said, “but Rowan is my husband, and Catrina is having his baby. She should be with him.”
Carson looked confused and annoyed. “Yes, but…that’s not how we do things. Omegas who are pregnant don’t get special treatment.”
I was irritated but I kept my cool. “Things are changing, Carson,” I said. “I’m the Alpha, and I say Catrina stays.”
He wanted to argue more but he could tell I was serious. He nodded stiffly.
“As you wish, Alpha,” he mumbled, and left the room.
I sighed and turned back to Catrina. “Sorry about that. Carson can be…stubborn.”
Catrina was still wary. “Why are you doing this, Isabelle?” she asked quietly. “Why are you being so…different?”
I knew she wouldn’t believe me easily. “Because I’m tired of fighting, Catrina,” I admitted. “I’m tired of everyone constantly trying to be more powerful than everyone else.”
I looked at Rowan. “And I want you and Rowan to be together, without my pack or his trying to tear you apart.”
Catrina’s eyes widened. There was a flicker of hope in them. “Do you…do you really mean that?”
I nodded. “Yes, Catrina. I do. I want us to work together, to stop Marcus and unite our packs.”
Catrina’s grip on Rowan’s hand loosened. She touched Rowan’s face gently. “But…what about your marriage to Rowan? I thought you were-”
“It’s just politics, that’s all,” I interrupted. "Our dads might have forced us together, but I don't want to be Rowan's true mate. That's you, Catrina."
I looked back at Rowan, who was still asleep. "And if you're both willing to listen, I have an idea that could make your true bond a reality."
Catrina's eyes narrowed a bit, still unsure. "What kind of idea, Isabelle?"
Taking a deep breath, I knew this was the most important part.
"I want Rowan to be my Luna," I declared, my voice firm. "Together, we can combine our packs and finally take back control from Marcus."
Catrina's jaw hit the floor. She looked speechless for a moment.
"Your... Luna?" she finally stammered. "But I thought..."
"I know what you're thinking," I said, stopping her before she could get upset.
"Lunas are usually mates of male Alphas, but this is about giving Rowan a chance to be the rightful Alpha of the Magnus pack again."
I stepped closer. “With Rowan as my Luna, we can use our power to stop Marcus. And that way, you and Rowan can be together safely.”
Catrina looked from me to Rowan, thinking hard. I could tell she was torn.
“I know it’s a lot to process,” I said more softly. “But please trust me, Catrina. I want to fix things, for all of us.”
Catrina thought for a moment, then spoke quietly. “What about the baby?” she asked, her hand on her stomach. “What about us?”
I felt bad that she was scared. “Nothing will happen to you or the baby, Catrina,” I promised. “You and the pup will be safe, I swear.”
Catrina studied me for a moment. Finally, she seemed to decide.
“Okay, Isabelle,” she said. “I’ll agree to your plan. But you have to promise to keep your word.”
I was relieved and nodded seriously. “I swear, Catrina. I promise as Alpha that you and your baby will be safe.”
Catrina looked at me, then back at Rowan. “Then I trust you, Isabelle,” she whispered. “For Rowan and for our family.”
I smiled a little. This was a new start for all of us. And with Catrina and Rowan with me, I knew we could defeat Marcus.
I turned to go, but stopped and looked back at Rowan.
“Rest well, my friend,” I whispered. “We have a lot of work to do...”
