Isabelle's POV
"This wedding will be flawless,"
He flinched and nodded rapidly. "Yes, of course, Miss Mondragon. Your vision will be perfectly executed."
My glare held him. "Make sure it is. I didn't rise to lead the pack by tolerating failures or excuses."
With a powerful stride, I turned and walked away, my alpha presence radiating a clear message.
Everyone would feel it and know their place.
A satisfied smirk played on my lips. When they hear my name, Isabelle Mondragon, they tremble.
Strength, power, and control - those were my defining traits, not butterflies or foolish dreams of true mates.
My marriage to Rowan Magnus was a strategic alliance, a political move. Love had nothing to do with it, at least not on my end.
Even if that immature pup pretended to be a ladies' man, he didn't have a choice either. This union was for the good of both packs.
So what if our marriage wasn't based on some fairytale romance?
I did not need that kind of weakness or the distractions that come with a mate's claim.
I still remember the day my beta approached me with shocking news.
"Alpha Isabelle," he stammered, clearly nervous.
"What is it?" I asked, always prepared for trouble.
"It's about Rowan Magnus, your...fiancé," he said.
My eyebrow shot up. "What about him?"
He took a deep breath. "He's mated with someone else."
I froze. "What? Did he mate with somebody?"
"Yes," the beta nodded. "And she is an omega...from a rogue family."
"What? That's absurd!" I snapped. How dare he?
My beta looked afraid. "It's true, Alpha. Rowan claimed her at their high school prom night. And now...she's pregnant with his child."
Rage burned inside me. How could Rowan do this? An omega from nowhere, pregnant before our marriage?
"Leave me," I ordered the beta with an icy tone. He scrambled away quickly.
At that moment I wanted to call off the wedding. An unfaithful mate is unacceptable.
But I knew I could not do that. My pack comes first, always. We need this alliance with the Magnus pack. It is too important.
So I made a decision. I would marry Rowan as planned. But I would not let this omega become his true mate. No matter what.
When I arrived in Las Vegas, I found the maid, Catrina, working at the Magnus Hotel.
She was very pregnant, reeking of Rowan's scent. It made me feel strange, almost...jealous?
No, I dismissed that feeling quickly.
I was polite at first. But then I revealed my true thoughts.
"Oh yeah, honey, I know all about that. What you two had was a big mistake. Just a dumb omega chasing after an alpha who'd never look at her twice."
I told the omega, letting my alpha power make her tremble.
Catrina stayed strong, this omega had spirit. But I saw the pain in her eyes when I insulted her child, calling it a "bastard mutt."
Good, I thought. She needs to know her place.
Just then, Rowan arrived. I switched back to my sugary-sweet persona in front of him. But I could tell he was worried about seeing us together.
Does he still care for this omega? I wondered. I couldn't let that happen.
Later, alone with Rowan, I finally confronted him. "Stay away from that maid," I snapped.
"She may be carrying your child, but she's not your mate."
Rowan looked conflicted, clearly torn between me and the omega.
"Isabelle, you don't understand," he stammered.
"I want to take Catrina as my concubine after we marry."
My jaw clenched. "Your concubine?"
"Did she even agree to that ridiculous idea?"
Rowan shook his head.
"I'm trying to convince her. And you better accept her into the pack."
I threw my head back and laughed.
"Good luck with that."
The idea of him keeping the omega around as a of side piece was infuriating. As if she would settle for anything less than being his true mate.
I knew Catrina's kind. They craved the whole fairytale romance, the true mate bond.
Such a pathetic, naive little omega.
There was no way that Omega would settle for just popping out pups and warming Rowan's bed when I wasn't around.
"Let's get this straight," I said, my voice icy.
"That omega carries your child, nothing more. She has no permanent place in our lives or pack. Understood?"
Rowan's jaw clenched, but he didn't argue.
For now, he knew who held the power when it came to Catrina's future.
However, I saw in his eyes that connection to his former mate.
Rowan tried to act normal around me, but I caught his stolen glances at Catrina.
This young alpha still felt the pull towards his true mate, even if he pretended otherwise.
Part of me understood, of course. I knew the legends of fated mates, the undeniable bond between destined partners.
And Rowan and Catrina clearly had that, even after his initial rejection.
It made me feel like an outsider with Rowan, even as his future wife. And I hated that feeling.
Raised to be the ultimate alpha, a flawless leader of my pack, any challenge to my power was met with fierce fury.
So, when it came to Rowan and his omega baby mama, I saw her as a clear and present threat.
A threat to my authority, my relationship, and my entire way of life.
Therefore, I would eliminate the omega and solidify my place beside Rowan. It was the only way to secure my future as alpha of the merged packs after our marriage.
And nothing, absolutely nothing, would stand in my way.
Suddenly, the hotel lobby doors flew open, and a figure burst in, soaked from the rain.
It was Carson, my loyal beta from the Mondragon pack.
"Rowan Magnus!" he roared, ignoring me completely.
Rowan stood up straight, obviously surprised.
"What is the meaning of this?"
"Are you man enough to face me?" Carson snarled.
My heart hammered against my ribs. What was happening? I stepped forward.
"Carson, stop!" I commanded, my voice laced with alpha authority.
"You will not disrespect my...fiancé in this manner."
But Carson barely looked at me. His eyes burned into Rowan.
"I won't let you marry Isabelle without a fight!" Carson roared.
"You are unworthy of the Mondragon alpha's hand!"
My cheeks burned with heat. Carson had been my closest friend since childhood, before my father's death. We'd grown apart after I became alpha.
Then it hit me – Carson still had feelings for me, even after all these years.
"You've proven yourself a reckless womanizer, a scumbag who doesn't deserve the title of alpha!" Carson continued, his fists clenched.
Despite myself, a part of me found his outburst strangely attractive. Carson had always been fiercely protective.
But I shoved those confusing emotions aside. I was the alpha now, and Rowan was my fiancé, for the good of the pack.
"Stand down, Carson," I commanded with a voice hardened by steel.
This wouldn't escalate further.
To my surprise, Rowan stepped forward, almost smirking.
"If this mutt wants to fight, I'll gladly put him in his place."
"Enough!" I barked at both of them.
Rowan glared, but Carson looked at me with pleading eyes.
Just then, a small cough came from the corner.
We all turned to see Catrina, the pregnant omega maid, standing there with fury blazing in her eyes.
"Did you just ACCEPT some strange wolf's challenge?" she shouted at Rowan. "Have you lost your damn mind?"
