                    Catrina’s POV:
A loud bang coming from outside the room scared me, My heart hammered in my chest.
Footsteps were coming closer. I scrambled back, ready to fight, even though I knew it was pointless.
He’s coming back. What’s he going to do now?
The door swung open, and there was Brock, holding a tray of food.
“Catrina,” he said, his voice strangely gentle. “I brought you something to eat.”
I eyed him suspiciously, my hands clenched into fists. “I’m not hungry. Just let me go.”
He frowned, setting the tray on a wobbly table.
“Come on, Catrina, you need to eat. Especially with the baby.”
I shook my head, backing away.
“I don’t want your food. I just want to go home, back to my pack.”
His face hardened, and he took a step toward me.
“Catrina, you are home. You belong here, with me. Your pack will never find you.”
Panic surged through me.
“No! You’re wrong! Rowan will come for me! He loves me, and I love him!”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“Catrina, don’t you see? Rowan doesn’t care about you the way I do. He’s probably off having fun at college, with all those human girls.”
His words stung, reopening the wounds of doubt and pain that Brock’s pictures had caused.
No, he wouldn’t… He couldn’t…
“That’s not true,” I whispered, my voice trembling.
“Rowan wouldn’t betray me. Not after everything we’ve been through.”
Brock came closer, reaching out to touch my cheek.
“Catrina, believe me. Rowan’s abandoned you, just like he abandoned his pack. But I’m here. I’ll always be here for you.”
I flinched away from his touch, my eyes narrowing.
“No, Brock. I don’t believe you. And I’m not giving up on Rowan. He’s my mate, the father of my child. He will come for us.”
He kept trying to touch me, his fingers brushing against my cheek, and I recoiled, my skin crawling with disgust.
“I made sure Rowan will never find you, Catrina. You’re mine now. Mine alone.”
“He’s lost it.” I thought. “He’s completely obsessed.”
I shook my head, my fists clenching. “No, Brock! You’re wrong! Rowan will never stop looking for us!”
His face went dark, and he took another step closer, his eyes narrowed to slits.
“We’ll see about that, Catrina. By the time I’m done with you, you won’t even remember Rowan’s name.”
Panic flooded me.
“What are you talking about? What are you going to do?”
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small bottle filled with clear liquid.
“This, Catrina,” he said, his voice chillingly calm.
“is going to help you forget all about Rowan and his pack. It’ll help you focus on your real future. With me.”
I backed away, terror gripping me.
“No! Brock, you can’t do this! Please!”
But he wouldn’t listen. His grip on the bottle tightened.
“It’s for your own good, Catrina. Trust me. This is the only way you and the baby will be safe.”
I shook my head frantically, my eyes darting around the room, desperate for an escape route.
There has to be a way out! I can’t let him do this!
“Brock, please! I’m begging you! Don’t take my memories!”
He came closer, his hand reaching out to caress my cheek.
“Shh, Catrina. It’s going to be okay. Trust me. Everything will be perfect.”
No! This isn’t perfect! This is a nightmare!
My heart pounded against my ribs, fear threatening to overwhelm me.
“Brock, no, please—"
But before I could finish, a sharp pain exploded in the back of my head, and everything went black.
When I opened my eyes, I felt dizzy and confused.
My mind was foggy, and everything around me looked blurry and strange.
I blinked, trying to make sense of it all, but nothing felt familiar.
“What happened? Where am I?” I felt disoriented and afraid.
I tried to sit up, but my body felt heavy and weak.
I was in a bed, a soft, comfortable bed, but the room… It wasn't like any room I’d ever seen before.
It was small and plain, with bare walls and a single window covered with thick curtains.
A voice, gentle and concerned, pulled me from the darkness. “Catrina?”
I opened my eyes, my vision blurry, my head pounding.
A man was standing beside the bed, his face full of worry.
“Who are you?” I whispered, my throat dry and scratchy.
His expression softened, and he reached for my hand. “It’s me, Catrina. Brock. Your boyfriend.”
I stared at him, totally confused. “Boyfriend? I… I don’t understand.”
Who is this guy? And why does he feel… wrong?
He smiled reassuringly, his thumb stroking the back of my hand.
“It’s okay, Catrina. You’re safe now. You had an accident, but you’re going to be fine.”
I blinked, my mind struggling to make sense of his words.
“An accident? I… I don’t remember anything.”
He nodded sympathetically.
“I know, sweetheart. The doctors said you might have some memory loss after the fall. But don’t worry, I’m here. I’ll take care of you.”
I stared at him, my stomach twisting with unease. Something felt off, but I couldn’t figure out what it was.
“What… what happened to me?” I asked, my voice shaky.
He squeezed my hand a little tighter, and I saw a flicker of something in his eyes—something hard and cold that sent a shiver down my spine.
“You were out walking, Catrina. You tripped and hit your head. You’ve been in the hospital for a few days, but the doctors say you’ll be okay.”
I frowned, trying to grab hold of the hazy memories that were starting to surface.
“A hospital? But where am I? Where’s my family?”
He smiled reassuringly, brushing a strand of hair away from my face.
“You’re safe now, Catrina. This is a hospital in the city, and I’m your family. I’ve been here the whole time, waiting for you to wake up.”
Confusion and unease washed over me.
But his touch was gentle, his voice soothing, and I wanted to believe him.
He seems so kind…
I stared at him, my forehead creased in confusion.
Something about his words felt wrong, but I couldn’t figure out what.
“I… I don’t remember any of this. I’m so confused.”
He leaned closer, his eyes full of concern.
“It’s okay, Catrina. Don’t worry. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere. We’ll figure this out together.”
I nodded, my head spinning. His presence was comforting, but the gaps in my memory… they were terrifying.
“Okay,” I whispered.
“I… I trust you, Brock. Just… help me remember.”
He smiled, a triumphant gleam in his eyes that made me shiver.
“Don’t worry, Catrina. I’ll help you remember everything. I’ll be here for you, always.”
Always? Why does that sound like a threat?
