I had managed one night where the thought of the move didn't come up. I had threatened Tilly that if she even mentioned it I would cockblock her the entire night. I had drunk enough alcohol to subdue my thoughts and forget about the misery that my mother had pulled me into with her choices, but just like that he ripped the mat from under my feet and I fell face forward into reality.
Landon’s grip loosened enough for me to pull my hands free and slam his hand away from my mouth.
I turned to Logan, the douchey grin plastered on his face was causing my anger to stir, more so than it did with Landon. The alcohol swirling in my veins and preventing my better judgment from acting out wasn't exactly helping.
“I’m not your sis,” I seethed.
The bottom of his crystal glass clinked against the table as he sat it down slowly and got up like it was a show. The girl fell face down on the couch behind him when she had nothing to lean against and he left her fumbling to get up. The saddest part was that she’d still follow him home like he was a savior guiding her toward the golden gates of heaven- when really, he was the exact opposite. I forgot that Landon was standing behind me when I saw Logan moving across the platform. I wasn’t blind, I understood what the girls saw in him. He was big, powerful, and had eyes that seemed to pierce your soul. When he watched me, it was like he could see everything. My desires, my secrets, my weaknesses.
Though I wanted to look away my stubborn nature wouldn't allow it and he knew that.
The closer Logan got the more my traitorous body reacted to his presence. For a split second, I thought about reaching out, putting my hand on his chiseled chest that was visible from the buttons he had forgotten. Maybe if I kissed him Landon would feel the pain that I felt, maybe if I touched him or went home with him Landon would finally stop his parade with the easy meat that we had in the pack.
“But you are,” Logan said as a response to my earlier threat that, apparently, fell on deaf ears.
I would never do to Landon what he did to me and even if I wanted to I certainly wouldn't do it with him.
Logan put a lock of my hair behind my ear and his thumb graced my cheek.
“Your mommy chose the better life. Who wouldn't choose gold over sadness?” He towered over me but even when they’re bigger they still choose to look down on you and he did, he looked at me like I was a broken toy.
I slapped his hand away and stepped back, into Landon. Shit, it startled me because I kept forgetting that he was there and when I looked back at him I saw him staring at me with a torn gaze and I knew he couldn't decide whether to stand up for me or step back and side with his boys. Instead of witnessing the inevitable disappointment, I turned my head and chose to live in the savored world of denial.
“You’re an ass,” I spat.
“Don’t get me wrong, princess, I completely get it,” his voice rose an octave as though he was putting on a show. And I wasn't wrong. "Say what you want about my father but at least he chose the hottest ass to tap while she spends his money,”
I reacted before my mind could even comprehend the movements I made, and I grabbed the glass bottle on the table and swung it at Logan’s head.
I wasn't sure what I expected but being the son of an Alpha I wasn't surprised when my hand stopped midair. His fingers curled around my wrist, and he squeezed until my fingers opened and the bottle fell to the floor.
“Careful, sissy,” he said lowly, his face mere inches away from mine.
“We’re about to share a house, you’ll want to be on my better side,”
“As if you have one,” I seethed. Logan chuckled. It was a dark, low sound that vibrated in my ears.
“Yo, that’s enough, let her go,” Landon said behind me. Surprise filled me over the fact that he spoke up at all.
Logan shot him a look and he had that same look in his eyes when he spotted a girl that he wanted. Not just to fuck or carry on his arm but as though he was accepting a challenge that only he knew about.
Nobody knew the rules but Logan. Logan and Noah, of course. Noah, the older, wiser, and no less evil brother.
I gulped and slowly turned my head to see him on the corner of the couch under the dark where the light didn't reach.
My skin heated under his gaze, and I felt the blood rushing to my face.
I was oddly aware of the way my toes curled as if trying to find steadier ground.
Logan's smile widened beside me when Noah leaned into the light and poured another drink. His eyes fixed on mine with every move he made, even as he leaned back and put a lazy arm around the brunette next to him.
Noah Reed. The Obsidian Packs soon-to-be Alpha, returned home from the academy two months ago.
You’d think he would have put the party life behind him but nah-uh. He was just as much in the spotlight with a drink or a girl as he had always been though it was Logan who brought life to the parties. They were a weirdly sick duo, always had each other’s back through whatever twisted idea they came up with and they had a knack for wreaking havoc wherever they went. They were like and day yet similar in so many ways. Noah had darker features, and thicker hair that fell like a mane on his head, always in waves that moved back like a dark stormy sea. Whereas Logan had more toned muscles and was swifter in combat, a great warrior, Noah was broader, his shoulders were always raised like a protective wall and his muscles rippled against the fabric of his shirt. The hand he held the glass with was ordained with a thick chain and the glass looked small in his hand. I followed the brim of the glass when he raised it to his lips and took a drink. I never looked into his eyes for too long, nobody did- maybe it was because he made you feel naked under his gaze or maybe it was shallow darkness that lurked in them. Whatever it was, they were watching me. Searching for something.
“I can smell your arousal,” Logan whispered and chuckled against me.
I jerked my head back and my eyes fluttered for a moment too long when I pulled myself together.
“Fuck you,” I shoved him off me and was heading off the platform.
“Wait!” Landon grabbed my hand. He didn't stop me or pull me in, instead, he dragged me after him through the sea of people and shoved everyone aside while walking us to the back of the club.
The music started to drown out and he pulled me through a drape-covered area where we were suddenly alone.
He pushed me back and pressed me against the wall, using his own body to keep me pinned as he shoved his tongue into my mouth.
I pressed at his chest and gained enough anger with every situation that had happened in the past hour and slammed him hard enough so he fell back.
What did he think- that he could give another girl an oral exam with his tongue and then come and rub his nasty hands on me?
“Baby, come on,” he said and grabbed my waist.
“I’m not your baby. Why don't you go back to that blonde slut that you were eating up earlier,” I pushed at his chest to get away from him but Landon pulled me back and held me put against the wall.
“Because I don’t want her,” He said slowly with a devious glint in his eye. He leaned down and his lips hovered over mine, gently brushing over them as he breathed heavily.
“I want you. I will always only want you,” he pressed his lips to mine. His hand snaked under my top and up my front while he pressed me back using his body.
Damn, those sweet words. Those sweet lies. I ate them up like they were candy and they tasted just as sweet.
I grabbed the back of his head and deepened the kiss while his hand roamed down my back. Our heavy breaths entwined while our bodies moved as one and he lifted my skirt.
