Landon pulled me into the woods behind the mansion. We used to run around here as kids, learning the paths for when we got our wolves and we would fight until the sun came up. But over the years, life happened, and my once grand plan of becoming a top Elite warrior changed. Especially after my dad left.
Apparently, a tree sufficed as a backrest and Landon pushed me up against the sharp bark but the pain was a welcome distraction from the sound of the walls around my mind cracking little by little.
“Fuck, you’re hot in a bikini,” he ran his hands up my chest and pulled down my dress sleeves.
Our tongues were moving in sync, they always did, but whereas his eyes were closed and his hands trailed the paths they had many times before over my skin, mine were open and I was watching him vigorously moving against me.
Damn, I should've swiped a bottle on the way.
Just close your eyes and pretend you're drunk.
Telling myself to do it was easier than actually feeling the intoxication dulling my senses and sending me into that welcoming pit of ’everything is okay’.
A place I'd grown fond of over the past years.
It made life durable, it made him durable.
All I had right now was the scent on his breath and I inhaled every whiff of it hoping it would at least cause a tingle. Without the numbness, my brain worked in its normal useless function and I became hyper-aware of what a piece of shit he was. Landon was the last guy I ever thought I’d be with but when my father left he was there on my doorstep and as rising Beta of the pack my mother was thrilled to have him in the family. Everything just sort of happened after that. We never went on a date, we got drunk that night and I lost my virginity to him at sixteen years old on the couch in my living room with Grease playing in the background. Romantic, huh?
Just close your eyes and enjoy it, come on, Maddie. The way that his grip tightened on my waist and he pressed his hips against mine was invoking some feeling but as long as my brain worked I knew it was futile.
“Landon,” I said and pressed my head back. His hand came up around my neck and his lips were tracing kisses up my jaw.
“Yes, baby?”
“Stop,” I pushed at his chest, my lip was stuck between his teeth and stretched out when he stepped back.
His eyes shifted in a hazed annoyance, shit I wish I felt that haze right now.
“What’s wrong with you?” He asked.
“The party is over there, I didn't get one sip in or talk to Tilly before you pulled off and for what? To fuck in the woods?”
He raised his hands and his shoulders came up to his ears.
“What’s wrong with that?”
Unbelievable.
Though I admit I just wanted to head back and drown my thoughts and every last bit of logical sense in tequila and gin but the feeling of something else in the making was causing a swirl of anxiety to rush through me.
“We’re not doing this,” I said firmly but that in turn awoke something in him. Something I didn't like. Something my fight or flight instincts were telling me to run away from.
Those words twisted his innocent pout into a sinister smile and his eyes darkened with a playful lust.
I swear I wasn't being paranoid, I have known Landon since we were kids; I knew when he was up to something.
This was the exact way he behaved with Logan and Noah whenever they spotted a new source of amusement- taking pleasure in the torment of others.
Hell spawn, every last one of them. And I was plopped right down in the middle of it.
“Oh yes we are,” he stalked toward me and reached back into his pocket.
The screen on his phone lit up and he started swiping until he found what he was looking for. I couldn't see what it was but he raised the sound and the earlier dull sounds of the partying at the mansion were overpowered by the sound of moaning and fucking.
Was he watching porn?
“What is that?”
He closed the distance between us and hooked his index finger under my chin, my bottom lip was pulled down under his thumb and he looked down at me like i was a deer he caught and he was getting ready for the kill.
“That will be sent to everyone in the pack if you don't do what I say,”
Landon turned the phone and showed me the video that he was playing.
That was us, in the back of a nightclub yesterday. My ass was out and he was fucking me against the wall- you could see everything from a high position. But he didn't leave me once we were in there, the asshole must’ve put a camera up there before dragging me in.
I looked up at him from the screen and narrowed my eyes to slits.
“You wouldn’t.” I seethed.
Landon smiled and parted his lips in a dramatic inhale.
“Oh yes, I would. I’ve told you the rules,”
“To a game I'm not a part of,” I spat. My words, however venomous and strong seemed to land on deaf ears.
“Baby, you’re the main pawn,”
“You’ve never involved me in your sick shit before, I was always on the sidelines,” my voice was getting weaker.
I was always protected, the one that they went to attack for, not on. Not that I ever agreed with anything they did but what good did that do? It’s not like they stopped because I asked.
“On the sidelines looking in,” his voice dropped to a hushed, hoarse whisper.
“Well, baby, you’re in.”
