                    Aurora’s POV
Something shakes me from sleep, and I swat at it.
“Not yet,” I groan, burying my face into the warmth. It smells amazing, like the spiciest fire burning in the fall, and it feels even better. Little sparks whisper through my body as I sink into the warm body.
A chuckle reaches my ears before something gently skims across my cheek.
“We’ve arrived at the Redwater Pack, little human, and unless you want them to see me carry you inside, you may want to wake up.”
Thorne’s voice.
My eyes fly open, and I sit up, finding that in my sleep, I moved away from the window and tucked myself into his side. Heat fills my cheeks as I pull my leg off his lap and unwedge my arm from behind his back.
Tucked against him would be an understatement, actually. I looked like I was trying to climb him in my sleep.
“S-Sorry,” I mumble, rubbing my tired eyes.
“What were you dreaming about?” Thorne asks curiously as I look around us. I pause, search my mind, but the last traces of my dream have already vanished. The tingly feeling, though? Yeah, that’s still there, and I can imagine that I’d been dreaming about Thorne.
“You were mumbling and clinging to me, then you tried to get into my lap,” he says teasingly. “You even tried to mount m—”
I slap my hands over his mouth to stop him from talking.
“I get it! I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to,” I rush, feeling the heat in my cheeks grow hotter. Jeez. I can’t even control myself in my sleep! I’m getting too used to being close to him while I sleep. Then, a thought occurs… do I always try to climb on him when I sleep?
Thorne’s amused chuckle pulls me from my thoughts, his hands already removing mind from his face as he speaks, “I have a few things say before we get out.”
I nod, too embarrassed to speak.
“This pack is an ally, but that doesn’t mean everyone likes humans,” he starts, which I already knew. “A few rules for you to keep in mind: be respectful to anyone you meet because you don’t know their rank. Don’t wander off on your own; it may not be safe. Keep your head up and don’t let anyone push you around; just because you’re human doesn’t mean they can bully you. If there’s trouble for any reason and I’m not with you, find me. Lastly, keep your phone on at all times, just in case.”
“Anything else?” I ask, letting a bit of teasing slip into my tone. Thorne pauses and watches me for a moment, like he’s waiting for something, but then he shakes his head.
“Just stay with me and everything will be fine.”
Nodding, I follow Thorne out of the car, making sure not to touch him but also to stand slightly behind him as another large man walks toward us. I don’t know if I could tell the difference between Betas and Gammas, but an Alpha is easy to spot. Most werewolf men are fit, but the Alphas are all a bit larger and have heavier auras than Betas, Gammas, or regular pack members.
The man’s eyes flick to me with interest but soon go back to Thorne.
“Sanders, it’s good to see you again,” Thorne says, shaking the man’s hand. They bow respectfully to each other.
“You’re always welcome, Thorne,” Alpha Sanders says as his eyes slide back to me. His question doesn’t need to be aired. Anyone would wonder who I am.
Thorne glances at me, “My assistant, Aurora.”
“A human?” Alpha Sander’s tone is curious, which has me relaxing a bit.
I peek around Thorne’s arm and smile at the large, imposing man. He’s the biggest man I’ve ever seen, even taller than Thorne, which is crazy because Thorne has to at least be six foot two or three. And this man beats that, plus he’s extremely muscular.
He’s a mountain.
“Welcome, human. Make sure you stay by Alpha Thorne’s side,” Alpha Sanders says with a nod. “While I trust my pack, there are a few here who look down on humans.”
Instinctively, my hand finds the back of Thorne’s shirt, fisting the material at the Alpha’s words. It doesn’t sound like a threat, but it does make me a bit nervous. He’s warning me so I’m not caught off guard.
“Thank you,” I whisper.
“Don’t worry about that,” Thorne says. “She’ll be staying by my side during our stay.”
The Alpha nods in acceptance before leading us inside. The house is large, but it’s probably not their pack house or the Alpha’s house. It’s probably a guest house, which Alpha Sanders proves when he explains that outsiders usually stay here when they visit.
“This will be your room, and Aurora can stay—”
“With me,” Thorne interrupts.
“Of course,” Alpha Sanders says with a smile. “I’ll see you in the morning. If you need anything, feel free to ask.”
Pulling my knees up to my chest, I rest my chin on them. The sun is bright and warm, shining down on me as I watch Thorne stand in front of a group of probably twenty or thirty men.
Thorne’s presence commands attention as he falls into training mode, shouting to the men. The spot he sat me in has a perfect view of him, and when they begin their warm up exercises, I can’t pull my eyes off of Thorne.
He’s captivating.
Everything he does pulls my attention toward him, and I feel like he’s all I can see. I’ve only ever seen Thorne in his suits or a pair of sleep pants, and now, I know he looks good in athletic wear. Very good, actually.
The tight shirt displays his figure perfectly, showing off his muscles. Honestly, this is the hottest he’s ever looked… other than when he’s in bed.
My cheeks heat at the thought, then they flame when I look back up to find Thorne stripping his shirt off. Holy mother of everything good in this world- if the sun doesn’t melt me, Thorne’s body will. I gasp, the sound drawing his attention. Unable to speak because I’ve suddenly swallowed my tongue, I wave my hands in the air to let him know I’m fine.
He chuckles then turns back to the men he’s training.
They run through fighting stances with Thorne demonstrating how to fight in human form since all of them already know how to fight in wolf form. Thorne grabs a man, does a fancy twist, lifts him, then tosses him over his shoulder.
My body instantly responds, a wave of heat crashing over me as I remember how he lifts me and man handles me in bed. I press my thighs together as he pins his opponent to the ground, and an image from last night of how he pinned me to the mattress flits through my mind.
Oh, jeez.
If someone had told me that I would get hot and bothered while watching Thorne train a group of sweaty men, I would’ve laughed.
Now…
“Aurora.”
I jerk my head up. Thorne stands above me, watching me with intense eyes.
“Do you need to take a break?” He asks, drinking some of his water. “Are you hungry?”
Hungry… my eyes trail down his naked torso, skating over his pecs and abs down to the v that disappears into his shorts.
Yeah. I’m hungry, but not for food.
“Aurora,” Thorne growls, his voice dangerously low. “Unless you want every Gamma in the Redwater Pack to watch me fuck you on the lawn, I suggest you take a moment to cool down.”
I snap out of my trance and look at the time, realizing it’s already noon. The Gammas are dispersing, probably to eat lunch, and I’m sitting here, drooling over Thorne.
How had I spent half a day just staring at Thorne?
Scratch that. I know exactly how. He’s gorgeous, and it’s too easy to get distracted by him.
