( Threequel ) Tamara's POV
I stood facing Yuki with my dagger placed against her throat. I could hear her breath louder than the rest and see her veins pump up blood at a rather rapid rate. Sweat was running down her face and her chest was slowly rising and falling.
"You cheated again," she whispered huskily.
"Well, you did too if we call using our abilities cheating," I answered and then lowered my weapon.
"Oh my goodness, you are shameless, miss vampire!" She exclaimed as I laughed loudly.
"You too, Yuki, you used your werewolf abilities," I pointed out.
"Yes, I did because I am an omega. Going against a born vampire, I had to do something," she answered at the top of her voice and then turned to look at the warriors who were watching us with interest.
"They are still here even today. Don't they have something else to do besides watching us?" She asked in an annoyed tone.
"They do, but for some reason, they can't seem to do just that," I answered with detest .
"Oh well, you can't blame them, after all, we are too beautiful to handle," she said as I smirked.
It was no secret that vampires had an alluring sex appeal that most humans and other supernatural beings found irresistible. Not only that, for the past years, I did everything in my power to look different and sexier than most of the she-wolves in the pack. As for Yuki, she was very cute, adorable, and too innocent. Us being together always had the males reeled up. To them, we were the duo they fantasized about and wanted badly. I was the one they wanted to fuck, while Yuki was the one they fantasized about making love to.
As surprising as it was, I found that so fascinating.
"Are you guys done with training?" Damon asked as he approached us.
The warriors quickly rushed to their areas, fearing to get on his bad side.
"Yes, father, but Tamara cheated," Yuki answered loudly.
"She's lying, Uncle Damon," I pointed out.
"Let me guess, both of you used your abilities," he said as we looked at each other and kept quiet.
"I'm glad to see you work hard, but you are not supposed to use your abilities unless it's necessary," he said, making me sigh heavily.
"I understand, Uncle," I answered.
"I'm sorry, father," Yuki apologized.
"Well, I have great news," he said with a wide smile.
"What? Do you want to train with me?" I asked playfully.
"You usually lose, kid," he answered with pride.
"That was two years ago, three more years have gone by, and I have become stronger and better," I said proudly.
"Kid, I would love to, but right now I have good news to tell both of you," he answered.
"What is it, father?" Yuki asked.
"Lui is coming back tomorrow," he said proudly as I smiled.
"Oh my goodness, father, are you telling the truth!" Yuki exclaimed.
"Of course, I am. Your mother is very excited too; as we speak, she has already begun to clean his room when it is already clean," he answered.
"Then I'll help her right away," Yuki said and then rushed ahead, leaving us behind.
"Did she not hear me when I said the room was already clean?" he asked seriously.
"She did, Uncle, but you can't stop someone who is very happy and excited," I answered.
He moved closer and touched my cheek gently.
"You are sad," he whispered as I faked a smile and shook my head.
"I am not," I answered in a cracked voice as I tried to avoid his eyes.
Why was it that he and Sherry saw exactly how I felt even when I was putting on a mask?
"Is it because Larson will return to his pack?" he asked as I felt my heart ache.
"No," I lied.
"Child, don't you think it's time to let him go? He has never contacted you in all those years or even asked about you. Holding on to something or someone that doesn't need you will only do more harm than good," he said as I nodded.
I knew that well, yet despite hating him for hurting me in the past, I didn't entirely want to avoid him. A part of me just wanted to see him.
"On the other hand, your best friend will be back. Isn't that news worth your celebration?" He asked as I instantly smiled happily.
"It is," I answered honestly.
I was fond of Lui, and I liked being with him. I was just very nervous to meet him because a lot of people changed within five years. What if he was cold towards me and learned how to hate vampires on that side? Moreover, he stopped sending me letters two years ago for some reason.
I couldn't go to his training camp because I was avoiding meeting Larson. Perhaps that's what made him upset.
He was a precious friend to me, yet I couldn't even bring myself to see him face to face.
"Well then, if you don't mind joining your aunt and cousin in cleaning his room, then let's go," he said.
"Please give me a few minutes, I'll be right there," I answered.
He dropped his hand and nodded.
I watched as he walked away with a low sigh.
How was I going to face Larson? Whether I wanted it or not, I was going to have to talk to him and accept his rejection or reject him. What I needed wasn't heartache or low self-esteem. I wanted to be happy even if that meant losing the very person who was supposed to mean everything to me.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when my cell phone rang.
I pulled it out of my trousers pocket, looked at it, then smiled and answered it.
"Mother,"
"Hi, Honey, it's me," father's voice came through.
"Father, what is it?" I asked seriously.
"Did you hear the news?" He asked back.
"News, about what?" I asked coldly.
"Larson coming back," he answered.
"Oh, that. Yes, I did," I answered honestly.
"How are you coping with that?" He asked as I smiled.
He was more concerned about me than mother was, and he usually called on her phone because I usually avoided his calls. When mother called, it was truly an emergency, while he called whenever he missed me or just to check up on me. It would have been nice if it was once a week, but no, it was every day since I got a phone. That's why I began avoiding his calls.
"I'm fine, father. Sooner or later, I'll have to return too," I answered.
"Honey, if you don't want to, you shouldn't," he warned as I laughed hard.
"I know, but I want to, so do expect me soon," I answered.
"Alright then, I'll inform your mother about your decision," he said as I smiled softly.
"Thank you," I answered and then disconnected the call before he could say something else.
I was going to face my fears, now that there was nothing pulling me back.
