Lui's POV
I couldn't help but yawn while my sister continued to talk nonstop. I was bored out of my mind. Sadly, I couldn't tell her, and I was trying very hard not to show it.
"Lu! Are you listening?" She asked loudly, using my nickname to get my full attention.
"I am, Yuki," I answered lazily, then smirked when I picked up Tamara's scent.
"Can you do me a favor, sis? Bring me some cold water to drink," I said as she frowned deeply.
"What?" She asked in a low tone.
"Please," I whispered and then leaned in and kissed her forehead lightly.
"Alright, you wait here. Don't move a muscle," she answered and then turned and went back to the pack house.
I quickly rushed to the training field where Tamara's scent was coming from. Once she came into view, I stood still and took in a deep breath, then released it while I pulled off the band from my hair and dropped it to the ground.
A lot of Alphas at the training camp pointed out how my hair made me look more appealing, and that's exactly what I wanted to look like in front of her, appealing.
"This won't be easy," I whispered to myself and then approached her.
She had a dagger in hand while she moved swiftly, throwing her hits.
Amazing and graceful were all I could think of as I watched closely.
She stopped when she sensed my presence and then turned to face me with a blank expression on her face.
"That was dope," I said huskily and then cleared my throat once I was standing opposite her.
"What?" She asked softly.
"The way you moved," I answered and then smiled.
"Wait, do you want to train with me?" She asked excitedly.
Hell no! I was tired from the trip, and all we did at the damn camp was train!
"Lui, you are doing that thing," she said as I raised a brow.
"What thing?" I asked seriously.
"You are making an expression that you usually make whenever you want to refuse to do something but feel entitled to," she answered, shocking me.
"Damn, do I really make such a face?" I asked loudly.
"Yes, you do, and it's actually good. You haven't changed much, I see," she said and then laughed softly as I laughed too.
"I saw no reason to change, Tammy. I am still the same Alpha from back then," I answered using the nickname I usually called her in the past.
She stopped laughing and then looked me in the eyes coldly.
"Then why did you stop writing to me? Did you not miss me? Perhaps did I bother you a lot or turn into a nuisance?" she asked.
"What? No!" I exclaimed, stunned at her thoughts.
"Then why didn't you respond to my letters?" she asked.
I was about to answer and tell her the truth when a different scent I had never inhaled before got my attention.
I slowly turned and faced the way I had come from with a rapidly beating heart.
The scent was that of fresh Gardenia flowers in a warm, sunny, peaceful field. It completely engulfed me and my wolf.
Our instinct was telling us our mate was approaching.
I felt speechless, and my feet were stuck to the ground.
"Brother! Where are you?" Yuki called loudly.
I wanted to answer, but I couldn't find my voice. The only thing I could hear over and over again was my wolf yelping in joy.
"Lui, she is calling you," Tamara said behind me.
I swallowed hard as sweat began to form on my forehead.
"Here!" I answered in a husky voice that sounded unlike my own.
She came running towards me with a smile on her face.
"Oh, there you are, you won't guess who is here to see you," she said as I laughed nervously.
"Where is she? Hey, move quickly! I know that you are carrying a cup of water, but pick up your pace!" She screamed immediately and turned to look behind.
When Akira appeared, walking slowly with her gaze focused on the cup in her hand, I gasped sharply and forgot to breathe for a minute.
"I'm sorry, I'm coming," she answered in a soft, meek voice as I breathed out heavily and squatted. I felt like my knees were going to completely give up.
"Ah, just give that to me, my brother is dying of thirst," Yuki said as she quickly went to her and grabbed the cup from her hand, bringing it to me.
"Here, brother, have a sip," she whispered when she leaned in.
I took the cup from her and frowned deeply, shifting my gaze to Akira who stood next to Yuki and looked down on me. When our eyes met, she widened her eyes and moved her hand to her mouth.
"Shit," I whispered in a cracked voice as my wolf purred, "Mate."
How was she my mate? It made no sense at all! Akira was way older than me by a few years and when I left for the training camp, my wolf had already awakened. How the hell did I not know what she was to me way before? And judging from how she was acting, she too had no idea who I was to her.
I averted my eyes and moved the cup to my mouth with a trembling hand. As I drank, the water spilled on my clothes.
"My goodness, brother, did you forget how to drink properly on that side?" Yuki asked loudly, then went down to her knees and touched my shoulder with a low sigh while I used my free hand to wipe my chin.
"I'll go and grab a towel," Akira said once she had dropped her hand and then turned to walk away when I quickly stood up and moved, grabbing her hand.
She turned and faced me as tingles erupted between us.
I wanted to say something, but I found myself admiring her beauty. When was she always this beautiful?
Akira was always fragile and quiet; even my parents usually told us how she was a weak child when Uncle Xiao came into the pack with her.
As I was growing up, she was usually fragile and couldn't train or do hard labor. It was weird because she was a hybrid born from a vampire and werewolf warrior. Some pack members felt pity for her because she was a half omega, while some said she was going to be okay because all she needed was a taste of human blood.
Back then, Yuki and I looked up to her as our older sister. We didn't talk much to her, but there was this mutual respect we shared.
When Tamara came into our pack, we became distant, and that did bother us a little, but then we just accepted it. We spent most of our time with Tamara and rarely saw her, even when I was going to the camp she couldn't see me off.
Now looking at her, I was shocked over how beautiful she had become. She still had that quiet innocent face, but it looked more mature, and her eyes had a deep shade of brown that was mesmerizing. Her short black hair was now longer, and her lips plumper. She was also the same height as me.
I swallowed hard when I lowered my eyes to her body.
She had small breasts, and the dress she wore did a good job of showing that she wasn't wearing a bra. She was slim, but her waist was small, and her hips were wide.
"Brother, stop being weird. You are acting like you don't remember Akira," Yuki exclaimed, snapping me out of my daze.
Shit. Was I now coming off as a weirdo?
