Larson's POV
I turned and looked at everyone with a smile.
Kyle was busy laughing loudly, which made me feel so happy. These were rare times for me because even at the camp he only laughed in front of Lui.
All those years, I did my best to be a worthy Beta because I thought he would smile my way and take me back as his best friend, but I was wrong. The more I worked hard, the more he seemed to hate me. I understood my wrongdoings, but was that really reason enough to hate me?
Each year that went by, I seriously reflected on myself and what was best for my wolf. Sadly, I couldn't get rid of my emotions.
"You are all grown now," my mother said as I frowned while I looked around.
"I'm sorry to ask this all of a sudden, but where is Roxanne?" I asked as the whole room went silent.
I frowned when Kyle's eyes began turning to that of his wolf.
"Son, I know that you want to greet your cousin, but have you forgotten?Roxanne has her own territory to take care of," my father answered as I glared at him.
"That doesn't make sense, father. Her younger brother and cousin are finally back after a few years of being away from the pack; the least she could do is welcome us," I said as Amelia glared at me.
"I informed her about your return a week ago, so don't worry. When she does make time, she will visit the two of you soon," she answered and then forced a smile on her face.
"I see," I whispered and then raised a brow when I picked up her scent.
I quickly turned and looked at the entrance, waiting with a beating heart for her to walk in.
"Where is my little brother?" Her voice sounded in the corridor.
I wanted to quickly run out to welcome her but stopped when my mother grabbed my hand and then shook her head.
When she walked in, I smiled happily. She still looked as she did back then. Actually, she was even more beautiful, and her hair was a little shorter than I remembered.
"Oh my, you are here," she exclaimed and rushed ahead as Kyle did the same, meeting her halfway and embracing her happily.
"Roxanne," Kyle whispered softly and then closed his eyes with a smile.
When he opened them and pulled back to look at her, I pulled my hand away from my mother, waiting for her to look my way.
"Look at you, all grown up. Oh my goodness, you even have a beard!" She exclaimed as Kyle laughed loudly.
"It's a little beard I have, but yes, I do. I kind of think it looks nice, don't you agree?" He asked as she laughed softly.
"Shave it tomorrow, you look old moron," she mocked and then looked at Amelia with a smile and then nodded.
I waited patiently as she looked at everyone else except me.
I was about to walk to her when I inhaled Garren's scent. He was with someone else because I could pick up another scent.
"Now then, I want you to meet someone, brother," she said and then turned to look at the entrance.
Garren walked in carrying a small boy in his arms.
When he stood in front of her, he smiled at Kyle.
"Brother, meet my son Connell," she introduced happily as I widened my eyes in shock.
"Son!" I exclaimed, getting everyone's attention.
"Yes, son. He is your nephew," Ian said when he walked in.
Son? Why were we hearing this now!
"You have a son and you couldn't even tell us?" I asked at the top of my voice.
"I did tell Kyle, though," Roxanne answered seriously as I looked at Kyle coldly.
He had the look on his face that was daring me to say something that would anger him.
"Didn't he tell you?" she asked.
I looked at her and then forced a smile on my face.
"I think he did, I must have forgotten," I lied.
"That's kind of him to do because, to be quite honest, I told him not to tell you anything because I don't want you or any shitty bastard around my mate," Garren said coldly, making sure his words came off as a threat.
"Garren, today is a very happy day, I hope you consider that," Ian said seriously as he sighed softly as if giving in to his words.
"Hey little one," Kyle whispered to the child who had his face buried in Garren's chest.
"It will take some time for him to get used to you. Right now he is just quite shy," Roxanne said and then gasped.
"Oh shit, I forgot to get something from the car," she said loudly and then turned and rushed out.
Without a second thought, I rushed outside and followed her to the car.
"Where is it?" She asked as she leaned into the open front seat.
"Roxanne," I called softly.
She stood upright and then shut the door.
"Yes, Larson," she answered and then turned to look at me.
I smiled as I moved closer, standing in front of her.
"I just...,"
"I came out to talk to you too, Larson. I didn't forget anything at all," she said, cutting me off as I smiled widely and grabbed her hands in mine.
"Is that really true?" I asked excitedly.
"Of course it is," she answered.
"Did you miss me all this time as I did?" I asked, then frowned when she burst into laughter.
"You are the stupidest Beta I have ever seen," she said, then looked at me coldly.
"What?" I asked as I dropped her hands.
"I came outside to give you a fair warning. I am not only the mother of a respected territory, but I am also an Alpha Queen and a Luna. As of today, you should never look me in the eyes or talk to me unless spoken to. That's a command," she said as her eyes changed and her aura shifted.
I wanted to laugh and play it off as a joke, but I couldn't. The force of her pheromones made my head ache and my knees weak. I wanted to fight her command, but I found myself going down on one knee, bearing my neck to her as a trail of blood trailed from my nose and tears filled my eyes.
Her words were absolute and lethal to go against. My wolf was completely submitting, and I couldn't fight it.
"Do you acknowledge my command, Beta?" she asked seriously as I sobbed and then forced myself to meet her eyes.
"I do, Alpha Queen," I answered, completely submitting to the command.
