Kyle's POV
Play it cool. Don't get upset.
I whispered to my wolf a few times while looking at Roxanne, who was walking to the car. Larson was nowhere to be seen, and that felt kind of weird.
"When will you visit?" she asked as she got into the back seat of the car.
"Soon," I answered and then shifted my gaze to Garren, who looked calm, yet his pheromones were that of an angered Alpha.
"Big brother, don't worry. I will make sure such a thing never happens again," I said loudly as he smirked.
"I like that name," he answered softly.
"It won't happen again, that I can guarantee," Roxanne said seriously, then shut the door as I frowned.
What exactly did she mean by that? Did she talk to Larson when she went out? I thought he had followed her when she went out, but then I was surprised when she came back alone into the living room. What exactly had happened between them?
"See you soon, Kyle. I wish to see what skills you acquired at the camp. So don't make me wait long," Garren said, then started the car.
I waved with a smile as they drove away. Once they were out of sight, I frowned and then turned, going back into the pack house without paying attention to the pack members who were standing there.
Both my mother and father knew how pissed off I was with Larson, and all they could do was let me be.
I stood there at the door of his room, waiting for him to open the damn door. When a few minutes went by, I opened the door and walked in with a growl.
He quickly stood up from his bed, with his gaze lowered to the floor.
I was about to yell at him when the scent of tears reached my nose.
"You, are you crying right now?" I asked in astonishment.
"No," he answered in a cracked voice and then sniffed.
"Oh my goodness, I can't believe this. Did Roxanne kick your ass?" I asked, then grinned.
He moved his hand and covered his face as he sighed heavily.
"If she did kick my ass, then everyone would have known by now," he answered.
"Then why the hell are you crying? Did she curse at you? No, you are a desperate bastard who would never be fazed by insults. Did she perhaps order you to stay the fuck away from her? Did she command you as an Alpha Queen?" I asked seriously because that was the only way he could stay away from her. Her command was too strong to go against, even for an Alpha.
He dropped his hand and then looked up, clenching his hands into fists.
"Oh crap, she did, didn't she?" I exclaimed and then laughed loudly as he glared at me.
Finally, Roxanne did what she should have done a very long time ago.
After all these years, this was when she was being harsh with him.
"There is no point in glaring at me, you loser. What she did was the best thing she could ever do for you. Now that you can't be close to her or even talk to her, I advise you to really think about what's best for you and this pack. By that, I mean, don't you think it's time to reject Tamara? Set her free so another man can have her," I said seriously as his eyes turned golden yellow.
"She is my mate!" He growled as I took a few steps forward and stood in front of him.
"Then are you going to accept her as your mate, Beta?" I asked seriously.
He opened his mouth to respond but then chose to say nothing.
"I knew it, so reject her when she does come to see us," I said and then turned to walk out.
"What makes you so sure that she will even come to this pack?" he asked loudly.
"Unlike you, Felix and Chase like me, so there is no way that they won't come and see me. Tamara also looks up to me, so she will come. If she doesn't want to, I will find a way to make her," I answered proudly.
"Alpha, don't you think you are talking too casually for someone else's mate?" he asked.
"No, I'm not. For someone who will soon get rejected, why should I talk about them with respect? Moreover, she is younger than me," I answered.
"Fine, I will reject her. I hope when I do, you can take me back as your best friend," he said as I raised my hand and punched him across the face, making him stumble.
"You worthless piece of shit! Don't you get why I hate the very sight of you despite you being my relative? You are so disrespectful, disgusting, and very selfish. Because of your own greed, you threw our friendship away by chasing my sister who is already mated, and you hurt a very innocent girl.You disappointed your parents, my parents, and Felix too. You were even ungrateful and unapologetic about it. What happened to sacrificing ourselves for the pack's happiness and prosperity?" I yelled furiously, then tensed when he laughed loudly and stood upright.
"Is that what you have been holding in? Useless talk and pleas?" He asked as I moved and punched his face again, this time sending him flying to his desk, which he hit and cracked.
I watched as he fell to the ground with a pained groan.
"I see what you are doing, you bastard, but it won't work," I whispered huskily.
"You won't make me hurt you badly so Roxanne would rush here to see you, and you won't make me hurt you as a way to handle your grief. The pain is inside you, and it won't easily go away. You will spend these coming weeks remembering and hurting, and with time, you will grow to regret your own decisions. You will wish you were wiser, and you will remember the very mate you never wanted."I said as tears rolled down his cheeks.
"Kyle, I have tried to hate her while I was away. I even tried so much not to think about her, but I just couldn't stop. Am I sick? If I am, then please help me. Do not abandon me. Please help me," he cried as tears filled my eyes.
He looked very vulnerable, and in his words, I couldn't detect any lies.
I walked to him and then extended my hand.
"Get up," I said seriously.
He hesitated but took my hand and stood up.
"I don't want to turn my back on you when you truly need my help, so I will do my best to help you. But if you go back to talking about Roxanne, I will never forgive you," I said in a low tone as he nodded and then hugged me.
It truly was heartbreaking to see him like this.
