Lui's POV
I waited patiently for Kyle to speak to me.
Two days had gone by without hearing a word from him. I was a little worried, but at the same time, I knew that he was okay; after all, he was very capable of taking good care of himself.
When my father knocked on my door and told me that I had a call from Ian's pack, I stood and rushed to answer it, knowing very well it was Kyle. When I answered, all he could do was sigh here and there.
"You called me first? I find that weird. I thought your pack didn't have our pack's phone number," I said jokingly, then slowly sat down behind the desk.
I was in my father's office, feeling grateful that he chose to give me the needed space and privacy. I didn't want him to listen to our conversation.
"Kyle, what's wrong?" I asked softly.
"It's Larson," he answered as I frowned deeply.
"Your Beta? What the hell did he do?" I asked loudly.
The Beta was usually quiet and seemed obedient around Kyle, when in truth he had this personality I hated a lot. Not only was he doing things that would get Kyle full attention at the camp, but he also seemed to hate that I was close to him. He also had a rude way of responding to others when spoken to.
"He is not okay," he answered as I sighed softly.
"You mean he is sick?" I asked softly.
"No. I mean something is wrong with him and he needs all the love and support he could get. I was thinking of what I could do to help him, after all, he's not only my cousin, you know. He is my right hand," he answered.
Kyle was usually unconcerned with him, but right now he really sounded concerned.
"Let me guess, you want to come with him to my pack to stay for a few days, don't you?" I asked seriously.
"To be honest, I did think about that, but then I remembered how my father will be leaving the pack in my care, so that can't and won't be possible," he answered.
I quickly sprang to my feet in shock over his words.
"You will be managing the pack!" I exclaimed.
"Yes, but I think it's just a test from him. He was talking about how he wanted to take a break as if I was buying his lies," he answered simply.
"Wow, then let me come to that side! It will be awesome visiting you while you are the acting Alpha," I said excitedly.
"Why do I feel like you will do something messy when you come to my pack?" He asked.
"That's because I will. To be honest, there is something important that I want to tell you. It can't be said on the phone, that's why I am happy to come visit you. Just prepare two rooms in advance," I answered.
"Who are you coming with?" he asked curiously as I chuckled softly.
"I won't tell you," I answered seriously.
There was no way that Yuki was letting me go alone. Moreover, if Yuki was going to come with me, then there was a huge chance that Akira could come along. All I had to do was to plant that idea into Yuki's head.
"When are you starting off?" he asked.
"How about tomorrow?" I asked back.
"It's okay, but be aware that my father will be around," he answered as I tensed.
"I'll need to pack and tell my parents first, so let's make it the day after tomorrow. I'll let you know once I start off, so do tell your pack. That way, they don't take me as a threat," I said and then disconnected the line after he had agreed.
I brushed my hand through my hair and then walked to the door, opening it and stepping out.
The past few days, I was going back and forth to the training field hoping I could bump into Akira, but it never happened. Whenever we ate breakfast, lunch, or supper, she wasn't present, and I found that surprising. It was like she was avoiding me. I wanted so badly to see her that it was getting hard to restrain myself.
"Are you done with your talk?" My father asked as he approached me.
"Yes," I answered simply.
"I heard you and Ian's son made a good team at the camp, but I had no idea that you were close friends," he said simply once he had stood in front of me.
"Kyle is a cool Alpha," I answered with a smile.
"I wish I could say the same about his father," he answered with detest.
"Father, the day after tomorrow I'll be going to Ian's territory to stay for a few days," I said as he gave me a death glare.
"Why?" he asked coldly.
"Because I want to see Kyle," I answered simply.
"Why can't he come here?" he asked.
"That's because I was the one who had suggested going to that side. I'll let mother know about this, so don't worry. Also, I think Yuki will nag you to death because she will want to follow me," I answered and then began to walk away.
"Damn it, Lui, you were with the boy not so long ago. Don't you think staying here and catching up with your family is better?" he asked loudly as I smirked.
"I will be back in no time, father," was all I could answer as I went to his bedroom.
When I reached the door, I took in a deep breath and released it.
I was about to knock when my mother spoke.
"Come in, son."
I slowly opened the door and walked in.
She was sitting on the bed folding a towel.
"Mother," I called in a form of greeting.
"Lui, I'm glad to see you," she said softly and then patted the spot at the edge which was next to her.
I moved and sat down, facing her.
"Talk to me, dear. Is everything to your liking? Your bedroom, food, and training?" she asked softly.
"Everything is fine, mother. I just came here to let you know that I'll be going to Ian's pack tomorrow, and I'm sure I won't be traveling alone," I answered.
She stopped folding the towel, then sighed softly.
"I see, so you are going to visit Ian's son?" she asked seriously.
"Yes," I answered.
"Very well, just make sure you come back in a few days. If a week goes by without your return, expect us to send Alec," she answered as I smiled happily. At least they weren't against my decision. Perhaps they knew how beneficial it was for two powerful packs to be on good terms.
When the thought of Akira came to mind, my smile vanished.
"Mother, don't you find it weird that everyone is usually present at the table when it's time to eat, but not Akira?" I asked seriously.
"Well, anyone is free to decide whether to eat with the family or not. Moreover, Akira has always been a shy child, so she rarely eats with us," she answered.
"Oh," I whispered in disappointment.
"Why the sudden interest in her? The way I know you, you could have been more concerned about Tamara than her?" she asked as I quickly stood up while laughing nervously.
"I was just asking. Do excuse me, mother, I have some things to take care of," I answered quickly and then rushed out of the room before she could grasp something from me.
