Lui's POV
I stood at the training field, looking at my watch impatiently. No one was around because it was very late, yet I had hoped that Akira would pass by.
"Are you waiting for someone?" Tamara asked as she approached me.
I smiled and then moved to meet her halfway.
"No, not really. I wanted to get some fresh air," I lied.
"Are you sure?" She asked once she was in front of me.
"Of course I am. Do you think I can easily lie to you?" I asked softly.
She smiled, then hit my stomach lightly.
"I can tell when you lie, Lui, so quit it," she answered as I cursed silently at myself.
"To be honest, I was waiting for Yuki and hoping to meet Akira," I answered, trying so hard to add Yuki into the conversation.
"Why is that?" She asked as I scratched my forehead, thinking of how to respond.
"Lui, is there something you aren't telling me?" she asked seriously.
I dropped my hand and then looked her in the eyes.
"I will be leaving the pack the day after tomorrow. I'm going to visit Kyle," I answered honestly.
"Kyle? The one you were with a few days ago?" she asked with a raised brow.
"Yes," I answered simply.
"I seriously don't understand what you are saying. Is he sick or injured in any way?" she asked seriously.
"Not him, it seems the one who isn't well is his Beta," I answered.
"Wait, Larson!" she exclaimed, surprising me.
"Yes, him. Do you know him?" I asked as I folded my arms.
"Of course I do. He is part of Ian's pack, and my parents are very close with Alpha Ian," she answered after hesitating a bit.
I had a feeling she wasn't telling me the whole truth. I knew who her parents were and that they were close to Alpha Ian's pack, but besides that, there was nothing I knew about her. My parents couldn't even tell us the actual reason they took her in.Every time Yuki and I asked them, they responded that she needed training and skills to handle her abilities as a born vampire, which was an absolute lie. It made no sense how she could be sent here when Ian's pack was the best option.
Back then, I didn't want to be nosy or ask too much, so I chose to let it go. But now that I was seeing her act like this, I was beginning to wonder if I had made the right decision not to dig into her past properly.
"I see," I whispered.
"Is Larson very sick?" she asked in what sounded like concern.
"I also don't know. All Kyle said was that he wasn't well," I answered seriously.
"So you will be leaving the day after tomorrow?" she asked in a low tone.
"Yes," I answered calmly.
"Then I'm coming with you," she said as I smiled widely and hugged her without a second thought.
I had my doubts about whether she cared for me or had the same feelings as I did a few years ago when I was around, but now hearing her words made me certain that she felt something for me, and that made me so happy and very excited.
If she had no feelings for me, then why would she decide to go back to a place she had avoided so much all these years?
"Going where?" Yuki's voice came from behind as I quickly pulled back and tensed when I inhaled Akira's scent.
"Brother, where are you two going?" She asked loudly as I took in a sharp breath and held it in, wishing this could all be a dream.
"Hey!" She yelled when she stood opposite me.
I breathed out and then slapped my cheek lightly.
"Are you two dating or something? Why wouldn't you want me to tag along?" She asked loudly.
I was about to tell her that there was nothing between me and Tamara when Akira spoke.
"Yuki, don't you think it's bad manners to interrupt other people's conversation?" She asked.
"But he is my twin brother," she whined like a little kid.
"I know, but for them to be here alone means that they didn't want to be disturbed," Akira said, and that made me turn around to face her in shock.
What exactly was she implying? That I was cheating on her?
She looked calm, yet her tone wasn't friendly.
"I hate to burst your bubble, Akira, but that's not the case. The one Lui is waiting for isn't me but you guys. I came here to train and saw him here standing alone looking at his watch," Tamara answered simply.
"Waiting for us, why?" she asked seriously.
"Because I wanted to tell you that I'll be leaving for Alpha Ian's pack soon," I answered.
"How soon?" she asked.
"The day after tomorrow," I answered.
"For what reason?" Yuki asked.
"Do I need a reason to visit my best friend?" I asked back loudly.
"You do know he is the only Friend I have right?" I asked seriously.
"Yes, but you were still together for the whole five years," she answered at the top of her voice.
"You know what, I won't argue with you, Yuki. If you want to come along, then fine. If you don't, that's fine as well," I said as she smiled.
"If Tamara is going, then I too will go. Akira, are you going to join us?" She asked as my heart began to beat rapidly.
"No," she answered, making my heart ache.
"Why? You may find your mate on that side. Wouldn't that be magical?" Yuki asked.
I glared at her, then sighed heavily.
"Akira, you seriously won't come with us?" I asked softly, trying to ignore Yuki's annoying words.
"No," came her cold response.
"Okay," I answered in a whisper and then forced a smile on my face.
"We will be there for just a week, so it makes no difference. Now if you will excuse me, I have to thoroughly prepare for the trip since I'll be driving," I said and then walked away feeling sad and very disappointed.
I knew she was hard to convince, but I thought she would agree to go with us because of me. Was she upset because she found Tamara and I hugging, or was she just not interested in me?
It was funny that I spent most of my time thinking about her. Was this how the mate pull and bond worked, or was I turning into a clingy mate?
"Damn it, it's getting frustrating," I whispered to myself and then walked into the pack house.
I wanted to call Kyle and let him know that I was coming with Yuki and Tamara, but then again, I didn't care much because I felt low-spirited and a little sad towards my mate's actions.
