Tamara's POV
I smiled when Lui and Kyle walked into the living room. Although it felt awkward, and I was planning to clear things between them, I still felt very relieved to see them together. Larson's gaze was on me, and that only made me feel very uncomfortable. He wasn't saying anything, and he looked very calm about what had happened.
As for Aunt Amelia, she was chatting with Yuki while Toni was asking Akira a few questions.
"Um, I need to make a quick phone call outside, so please excuse me," I said as I stood up.
I didn't want to tell my parents that I was coming back because I knew how they would react. They could have been here acting like I was a little child. But now that I was here, I needed to let them know before Uncle Ian could do it.
"I'll go with you," Larson said, then stood up as I glared at him.
What?
Was he taking this opportunity to finally get over his rejection?I wasn't ready because I was scared, but then again, if it meant being free from him, then I was going to do it. Just because I was a little concerned about him and afraid, that didn't mean I wanted to be with him.
"Fi....,"
"Where is she?" My mother's voice came through from the corridor, cutting me off.
I widened my eyes and looked at Uncle Ian, who shrugged as if he knew nothing.
"Did you call her?" I asked in disbelief.
"She is my close friend, you know that, right?" He asked as I frowned deeply.
"Uncle Ian!" I exclaimed in annoyance.
"Shut it, you brat. I know how happy you are to hear her voice," he answered lazily.
Before I could say another word, arms went around me.
"My baby girl," mother whispered softly behind me.
I slowly turned and faced her with a smile.
"Hi, mother," I greeted softly.
She pressed her cold hand against my cheek and sniffed as tears filled her eyes.
"Just look at you, all grown up and pretty. You look like a Barbie doll who is worth billions of dollars... and,"
"Mother, it's good to see you too," I said, cutting her off.
She smiled and then pulled me into her embrace as I embraced her back with a blurry vision. Tears filled my eyes, but I didn't want to break down.
"I missed you so much," she whispered.
Thinking back on how much I had missed her too and how sad she must have been after my departure made me shed tears.
"I will never leave again, I promise you, mother," I sobbed as Yuki gasped loudly.
"Oh no, sweetie, I don't want you to make such a huge sacrifice. Just having you visit us every year and month would be enough," she answered in a cracked voice as the room went quiet.
I frowned when Larson took a few steps closer but stopped before he could reach us. He had a pained expression on his face, and his hands were clenched.
Did he want a fight with me, or was he trying to get on my mother's bad side?
"Son, step back," Toni instructed seriously.
"But ... But she...," he began to speak then stopped and took a few steps back.
I pulled back and wiped away my tears with a smile as she did the same.
"Where is dad?" I asked seriously.
"Him, he will be here with the others. I wasn't going to sit still and wait for Lee to open a portal," she answered as I chuckled softly.
"Mother, that's abusing your abilities as a vampire. Waiting for a few minutes wouldn't have made a difference," I said.
"Well, to hell with that, because I am very happy to be the first one to see you before anyone," she answered as Uncle Ian cleared his throat.
"Seriously, Ian, do you have to ruin such a beautiful moment?" She asked coldly.
"Well, pardon me, I just felt like clearing my throat," he answered reluctantly and then stood up when a portal opened and my father stepped out.
I dropped my jaw in shock seeing how his hair was bright red.
"Dad, what did you do to your hair?" I asked at the top of my voice.
"Is that all she could say after not seeing you for years?" Lee asked when he stepped out.
"I told you, Chase, that look is so not you. It's actually way too much," August said when he too stepped out.
I quickly ran into my father's arms and hugged him happily.
"Hey kiddo," he whispered and then pulled back and looked at me while blinking back his tears.
"You look a lot more like your mother now that you are all grown up," he said as Lee chuckled.
"She actually looks a lot more beautiful than her," Lee answered.
I went to him and hugged him as he embraced me back.
"I missed you, Uncle Lee, a lot. But where is Aunt Jeannie?" I asked after I had pulled back.
"Here," she answered and then stepped out of the portal, which closed and vanished.
"Sir," I greeted when I moved in front of August.
He ruffled my hair, then stopped when we heard a low growl.
He frowned and then looked at Larson, who quickly shifted his gaze to the other side.
What the hell was his problem? I asked myself silently.
"Sweetheart, let me look at you," Aunt Jeannie said as I quickly rushed to hug her with a giggle.
"So pretty," she said when I pulled back.
"Thank you," I answered.
"Are you already picking sides, kid?" Uncle Lee asked as we all laughed.
"Let the kid pick a side. After all, she's my child and she takes after me," Mother answered proudly.
"Oh, before I forget. Lexi and the others will be here soon. They too will be using a portal, so I suggest you start preparing rooms," Uncle Lee said.
"I'll be sure to do that. Ian, did Garren call you or Neo by chance? Did he tell you if he was going to come by?" Aunt Amelia asked.
"No, and I don't think he will step foot here anytime soon. He is trying to keep his Luna away from someone we know," he answered lazily as I furiously gazed at Larson, who was looking at me with widened eyes.
So he was still in love with her after all these years! What was I thinking exactly? That he would change when it was impossible for him to do so.
It was good that I had made up my mind not to be with him because I had a feeling I would regret it badly if I chose him.
"I'm just so happy to be home," I exclaimed as everyone looked at me in silence.
"I just... It was so hard being on that side before I warmed up to Lu and Yuki because I missed you all. Now, seeing you all in one place is so overwhelming, and I feel very happy," I said, my voice cracking as tears rolled down my cheeks.
My mother quickly moved to where I was and embraced me as I sobbed in her arms.
I felt so happy that words couldn't even express.
