August's POV
"August, wait," Whitney called behind me.
I stopped moving and sighed heavily.
"What? Are you here to ask more questions?" I asked coldly.
"No, I am not. I just want to make sure that you aren't upset with all of us," she answered.
I turned and looked at her furiously.
"Were you not the one who heard me cry bitterly on the phone? Did you not see and hear how broken and alone I was? No one truly understood the pain I was in, not even you. You must have tried to in the past, but you pulled away when I really needed you the most because you were happy to have Uncle by your side. Meeting this human may seem stupid to most of our kind because she is not my mate. But to me, it's the best thing that has ever happened in my life. Not only did she accept me even though I am being kept by Felix, she didn't give a damn that I was a bartender in a damn club," I spat.
"Hey, are you done speaking?" She asked as I frowned.
When a few seconds went by without my response, she spoke up.
"Leo and I would love to meet her. She sounds like a very sweet lady. I must not have shown it back in the pack house, but I was very happy to hear that you have someone who really loves you," she said with a smile as I sighed softly in relief and then smiled back.
"By Leo and I, she means all of us would love to meet her," Lexi said as she approached us.
"You know, it isn't smart to be here with me. The twins won't let it slide, be it friends or not. They don't trust me enough when it comes to you," I pointed out the obvious.
"We aren't all alone, are we? My mother is here with us," she answered when she stood next to us.
"It's not a promise yet, until I tell her about our kind. But if she does accept me wholeheartedly, I will make sure to take her to our pack first," I answered.
"I'm glad to hear that," Whitney said.
"Lexi, if you don't mind, I have a favor to ask.Can you send me back to human territory? To be specific, I want to visit my fiancee's apartment," I said.
"You know me, that's very easy to do," she answered and then extended her right hand to me.
"I need your hand placed on mine, in order to know her exact address," she said as I quickly put my hand on hers.
She closed her eyes and raised her left hand as a huge portal appeared in front of me.
She opened her eyes and pulled her hand away from mine.
"You can walk in, it will take you straight to the front door," she said.
I nodded and then looked at Whitney seriously.
"Go on, don't worry. I'll talk to everyone and let them know that you weren't upset," she said.
"Thank you," I answered and then walked into the portal.
I smirked when it led me straight to the front door of Teresa's apartment. It instantly vanished, and I spent a few minutes looking around to see if there was someone watching. Once the coast was clear, I rang the doorbell and waited patiently.
When a minute went by, I frowned, wondering if she wasn't home.
"She's usually home on weekends, so she's obviously home," I muttered to myself and then rang the doorbell again.
"I'm coming, chill," a soft female voice answered as my heart instantly picked up.
My knees felt like they were about to give up, and my breathing was becoming labored. Each step that approached the door made me nervous and caused my wolf to stir happily.
I knew who it was even before the door could be opened.
I quickly turned and began walking away when the scent of fresh spring and flowers touched my nose. I instantly halted my movements.
"Sir, was it you who was ringing the doorbell?" She asked softly as my wolf yelped "Mate," crazily.
"Sir?" She called again as I felt scared to turn.
Whoever she was, she wasn't my fiancée. How could she be in her apartment?
I heard her footsteps approaching me, and before I could run away, a hand touched my shoulder. I closed my eyes and felt a strong wave of beautiful tingles spread throughout my entire body.
She gasped softly and dropped her hand.
"Look at our mate," my wolf growled loudly at me.
"No," I answered silently.
"Look at her!" He demanded, and I found myself turning to face her.
The first two things that shocked me were how she looked. Firstly, she looked so much like Teresa, and secondly, she was a kid! A damn kid!
She was looking at me with widened eyes, and I found myself quickly checking my outfit to see if something was wrong.
Unlike Teresa, she had very long blond hair that reached her waist, with a few white strands in it. Her hair was not very curly, and it looked a little messy. She was slightly shorter than Teresa, and her figure wasn't all that. She had small breasts, a slim body, beautiful big hazel eyes, and her lips were small and pinkish. Her nose was sharp, and her ears were cute and small.
"Is there something wrong with me?" I asked loudly, trying to find out why she was looking at me like that.
"Oh, I'm sorry. It's just that you are very handsome," she answered and then smiled as I deeply inhaled sharply at her words and at the sight of her dimples.
"She is just so.....,"
"Perfect," my wolf finished my silent statement.
She wasn't exactly my type to begin with because ever since Sharon, I found myself only attracted to women who had the best body figure and large breasts. I also liked the mature, strong type. Yet here I was liking the very opposite of what I chose to ignore, and my heart fluttered.
I cleared my throat and then turned to leave when she grabbed my hand.
I looked at her with widened eyes as she shyly looked down and then back at me.
"I have never done this before because I have never been attracted to anyone. But can you go out on a date with me? That's if you don't mind and if you aren't seeing anyone," she said as I raised a brow, stunned at her courage.
"Yes, absolutely!" My wolf purred.
I was about to respond when the door opened, and Teresa stepped out. I quickly pulled my hand back and walked to her with a fake smile. Each step I took away from my mate felt like heavy chains dragging me back.
"There you are, darling. Oh, August, you are here?" she asked happily, then ran in front of me, hugging me tightly.
"Why didn't you call me?" she asked when she pulled back and gazed into my eyes.
I smiled widely and then grabbed her hand and linked it to mine.
"I was about to, but then..."
"I opened the door. Sorry to ask this all of a sudden, but who is he?" My mate asked when she moved closer and stood beside us.
"Oh, this wasn't how I wanted the two of you to meet, but anyway... August, meet my daughter Tanya.Tanya, meet the man who will soon be your father, August," she said as my smile faded.
What the fuck did she just say?
"August, wait," Whitney called behind me.
