Kyle's POV
"August left and said he will be back soon. I'm guessing he meant a few weeks from now," Aunt Whitney announced when she stepped into the living room.
"Is he upset over us asking him questions?" Uncle Neo asked.
"No, he just wants some time to think through everything," she answered.
"Now that he is gone, may I speak freely? Going for a human who isn't his mate is rather a horrible idea. Not only will she find it a troublesome secret to keep if she is told about our kind, she may live in fear and blame each and every mistake on what he is," Nana said coldly.
"You are right, mother, but I believe there are very few humans that are different. Those that truly love and understand us the way we are," my father answered as my mother smiled.
"I don't mind August finally having someone by his side. My main concern is, how safe is it for her to know about our packs and secrets? The next thing you know, she will be on the news channel reporting stuff, or she may turn out to be a freaking scientist who wants to study us," Uncle Ryan said as I laughed softly.
Were they just saying anything for fun? How could they even think about that?
"Dad, Lui and the others haven't rested or settled in yet. Please allow Larson and me to show them their room," I said as they all looked at me.
"Seriously? I was about to ask that young Alpha a few questions too," Uncle Ryan said lazily.
"Not now, Uncle Ryan, they need to rest," I answered seriously as he raised a brow.
"You sure are going smoothly into Alpha Ian's lane," he teased and then nodded.
"Guys, let's go. You need to get some rest before meeting my crazy family again," I said loudly and then moved to where Yuki was sitting and extended my hand to her.
She looked at it coldly and then stood up, ignoring it.
"It looks like she will be ignoring us for now," I silently told my wolf and then walked to the door as Lui and the rest followed.
We walked upstairs and went to where their rooms were prepared.
Naturally, I was looking forward to being neighbors with Lui. His room was supposed to be next to mine. But after knowing Yuki was my mate, I was going to change the arrangements.
I went to the room which was next to mine and opened the door with a smile.
"This room is yours, Yuki. Mine is the one which is next to yours," I said as they all walked in.
"I will be rooming with Akira," she answered simply, surprising me.
"What?" Lui and I asked together.
"I said I will be sharing my room with Akira. Akira, you are alright with that, right?" She asked as I quickly looked at Lui who shook his head.
"Well, I don't see any problem in doing that," Akira answered.
"There is a problem, what if I want to see you without my sister being present?" Lui asked.
"That doesn't even make sense, like why would you want to see her alone?" Yuki asked seriously as I frowned.
She was sounding like she had no idea that they were mates.
"Because they are mates, is it that hard to understand?" Larson asked calmly as she widened her eyes looking at Lui.
What? Did he really not tell her? I wondered.
"What!" She exclaimed.
I looked at Tamara and noticed how calm she was. It was as if she knew, while Yuki had no idea.
"When were the two of you planning on telling me? Oh my goodness, was it the reason you got upset while driving and stepped out?" She asked at the top of her voice.
"I was about to tell you," Lui answered.
"Yeah right, who else knows about this? Did you ask Dad and mom to hide this from me?" She asked seriously.
"No, we did not. They don't know either. Akira and I decided not to tell anyone because we have issues that need sorting out," he answered.
"Like what?" She asked.
"Yuki, I understand that you must be shocked right now, but what we decide as mates has nothing to do with you," he answered.
"It does?" She exclaimed.
"Enough already. I hate it when you act so nosy. For once, act your age!" he growled as I looked at him coldly.
"Lui, mind your tone," I warned.
She frowned deeply, then walked to the bed and turned to give us her back.
"Can all of you get out," she said coldly.
"Larson, show Lui and Akira to their rooms. As for Tamara, ask if she will be staying here, because I'm guessing she will be going with her parents," I mind-linked him.
"Like hell she will be," he mind-linked me back and then cleared his throat.
"Lui, Akira, and Tamara. Please do follow me," he said and then walked out of the room.
"Kyle," Lui called softly as if to ask if I was coming along.
"I'll be right there with you," I answered with a smile.
"Okay," he said and then walked out with Larson and the rest.
"Why did you remain?" Yuki asked seriously.
I closed the door behind me and then moved closer.
"Because you are my friend," I answered as she turned and looked at me with astonishment on her face.
"I had no idea you knew nothing about them being mates. It must have been hard for you to find out like this. But aren't you happy to know that it's not some random girl who is bonded to your brother but your close friend?" I asked.
"Truthfully, I am very happy, but I also feel bad about what I said to them. I seriously don't understand why they would keep everyone in the dark. It's like they don't want to get together," she answered as I chuckled.
"Like us?" I asked to see her reaction.
She glared at me and then folded her arms.
"They are nothing like us," she answered.
"How so?" I asked.
"I am not going to hide the truth of us being mates, and I'm sure you won't as well," she answered.
"Why are you so confident?" I asked.
"Because I know by instinct," she responded.
I wanted to tease her and tell her how she was wrong, but I felt a little sorry for her because she was still trying her best to act okay when she wasn't.
"Would you be okay unpacking on your own, or do you need a hand?" I asked.
"I will need a hand, but first, you need to bring my suitcase here," she answered as I chuckled softly.
She was openly sending me off to run an errand for her, and it was the first time for me, seeing as she was way below my rank and not my family. But then again, it was a pleasure to do something for my mate; that way, I could easily win her over.
"Then relax, let me go and grab it," I said as she smiled.
