Kyle's POV
"Mom, I have a problem," I said softly to her.
She stopped folding the clothes in her bedroom and looked at me seriously.
"Okay," she whispered.
"So, um... remember that incident that happened between me and Yuki, my mate?" I asked seriously.
"Yes, I do," she answered simply.
"She got so upset with me that she wanted nothing to do with me. I am very confident that I could win her over with time. But then, I don't have much time left before she goes back. That's why I was wondering if there are some tips on how to win over a lady in a short time that I could learn from you," I said.
"Kyle, kindness, honesty, and sincerity are always key to winning a woman's heart. That's if you add care and loyalty as the cherry on top," she answered as I smiled.
For some reason, I was expecting such words from her.
"But there are other women who prefer a bag of coins and gifts as an apology, so I would say first find out what she likes," she said as I chuckled softly.
"She has a sweet tooth; that's why I'm planning on taking her out with the others," I answered.
"What? No way! If she has a sweet tooth, then baking her something sweet would totally win her over," she said as I frowned.
Was she seriously saying that to me?
"Mom, I can't bake," I pointed out.
"Don't be silly; you can cook a few dishes like your father, so baking will be easy for you. Now let's get started with the baking," she said as she stood up from her bed.
"Like right now?" I asked in surprise.
"Yes, right now! Are you perhaps busy with something?" she asked as I looked at my wristwatch.
"Mom, this is late," I answered honestly.
"Stop with the excuses and move already," she said, and then walked out of the room as I followed behind, feeling defeated.
It wasn't that late, but I was hoping to rest for tomorrow because I had a lot of things to do.
We went into the kitchen, and she immediately went to grab the needed ingredients, putting them on the kitchen table.
"Wash your hands, please," she instructed as I went to do just that.
Once I was done, I moved closer to the kitchen table and watched carefully as she put a few cups of flour into a large bowl.
"Add two teaspoons of sugar and a quarter teaspoon of salt," she instructed, and I did just that.
"Good, now stand here and begin to mix; I'll be the one pouring water in there," she said as I gave her a cold look.
"Do it already," she said as I rolled my eyes and began mixing the flour.
"So you guys were in here?" Dad asked immediately as he walked in.
"It's good you are here, Ian. Grab me a bottle of honey and icing from the top shelf," she said as he smirked.
"I'll just wash my hands too because it's been so long since we baked something as a family," he said as I smiled widely.
"Yep, while you are at it, make it fun," Mom teased.
It felt like a dream having them bake something with me now because a lot of years had gone by since we did that.
"How's this for fun?" Dad asked, then grabbed the bag of flour and threw a handful of flour into the air as Mom stood tense and astonished.
"Not enough?" he asked, then threw more towards us as I laughed.
He was so damn crazy!
"You are so dead, Ian!" she screamed and then grabbed an empty bowl that was on the table and ran towards him as he ran in circles around the table laughing.
I stood there laughing my lungs out over how funny they were.
"I'm so sorry, my love, I really am!" he said loudly with a wide smile.
"If you are, then stop running and willingly submit to revenge!" she screamed.
I stopped laughing and looked at them seriously.I hoped they would forever be that way and never change. It was so surprising to see how they were in love even after so many years. They had this spoken and unspoken bond that involved respect, care, love, loyalty, and so much more between them. I wished Yuki and I could be like them or even attempt to be, in our own way.
"I wish you guys never change, no matter what circumstances you go through," I whispered softly, and that made them instantly stop and look at me.
"I also wish Roxanne were here. I miss her a little," I said softly and then forced a smile on my face.
"Honey, we will never let anything come between us. So we will never change," she said, then moved closer, standing by my side and rubbing my back gently.
"Were you dumped by that little girl?" Dad asked calmly.
"Ian," she called in warning.
"You wish; she is not like that," I answered and then glanced at my mother.
"Knowing how you ended up with him and couldn't dump him when he was a jerk to you, gives me a lot of hope. Like, look at me, Mom, I'm way better than him," I said mockingly as Dad moved closer and threw flour at my face.
I shockingly looked at Mom, who was also the victim of his spray, then grabbed a spoon that was on the table and ran towards him, with Mom right behind me as he ran around laughing.
"I will kill you, Dad!" I screamed as he laughed louder.
"That's what you get for saying shit to your father, you bastard. You should have backed me up," he answered as I laughed.
"Son, take the left side; I'll take the right," Mom screamed as I nodded and did just that.
When we both grabbed him on each side of his hands, he stood still with his hands raised in surrender.
"I give up!" he exclaimed.
"Not until you receive a befitting punishment," Mom said and then grabbed the bag of flour from his hand, pouring it all on him as we all laughed.
"Fine, fine, I deserve this," he answered seriously.
"Now let's go back to baking my present," I said as Mom looked at herself, then at him.
"How about we take a shower first?" she asked.
"No, you guys started this whole circus game, so it's all on you, not me. Let's get baking," I answered and then moved to the table to continue doing what I was doing.
"Fine, we will help you, kid, but once we are done, you will be the one to clean up this mess," Dad said as I smirked.
"Sure," I answered reluctantly, knowing that I was going to ask someone to do it for me.
I could feel it; I was going to be dead exhausted from just baking.
