Ian's POV
I brushed my hand through my hair and sighed heavily. Amelia was sitting next to me on the couch while Kyle and Larson sat opposite us. Toni and Neo were standing close to the entrance, leaning against the wall, and they both looked very upset.
"So that's everything that happened?" Neo asked coldly.
"Yes," Kyle answered in a low tone.
Hearing what went on during our absence was disappointing and a mess.
What shocked me the most was how Kyle acted.
"I would understand seeing such behavior from Lui, Tamara, Akira, and Yuki, but not you two. We raised you well and taught you how to handle yourselves as well as others in different situations. Kyle, you are usually reserved, and your judgment on things is never clouded. You getting upset is understandable, but not to the extent of making the situation worse. As for you, Larson, I understand how desperate and scared you were to lose your mate, but did you have to take out your anger on your cousin without talking to him? Did you seriously have to make Lui and the others leave without a word?" I asked.
"I....,"
"Lui will soon take over as the acting Alpha, and their pack is an amazing pack that most territories would die to have an alliance with," I said, cutting him off and then continuing.
"You two will soon take over as Alpha and Beta of this pack. If such an issue can create a rift between you, then I don't see you keeping this pack united, strong, and more prosperous than it already is. I actually think you both aren't ready to take over," I said honestly.
They both looked shocked at my words.
"Dad, we are seriously ready to take over any time. What went on was just a misunderstanding," Kyle answered.
"A misunderstanding that made Lionel beat the crap out of Larson? You two even involved Lee, who didn't have to know anything," I said seriously.
"Ian, I know you didn't say it out loud, but you are more disappointed in Kyle than Larson, right? I, too, am very disappointed in Larson more," Neo said as Larson looked at him.
"You had all the time and reason to stop your mate, yet you did nothing. You failed her, son," Neo said seriously.
"Did you not hear me when I said how she wanted nothing to do with me?" Larson asked.
"I heard that, and do you know what else I heard, son? Her doing it to make you hurt, as you had hurt her in the past. Her calling her mother to pick her up because she is still hurting. Felix calling you dumb because she saw how her daughter wanted you to make her stay," he answered.
Larson looked at me with widened eyes, as if waiting for me to confirm if I had heard the same.
"Yes, Larson, from what we heard, it's clear as day that Tamara didn't want to leave you and that she does have feelings for you. If she was so eager to leave, she would have done it way before Yuki overheard your conversation. Tamara is a vampire with magic; going back to her place was a piece of cake. Yet, she had no strength to do so on her own; that's why she called Felix. She knew Felix was going to be her strength to persuade her whenever her heart was about to falter and waver," I said.
He quickly stood up and smiled.
"I'll go after her," he said as I sighed heavily.
At times, he sure was dumb. Felix was never going to let him enter her house, no matter what.
"Son, Samantha will kill you this time," Neo said in a low tone.
"I want my mate!" he yelled and then looked at Toni.
"Mother, please help me out a little," he pleaded.
"No," came her cold response.
"Ian, we all know that Samantha listens to Axel more than anyone," Amelia mind-linked me.
"Are you asking me to help the pup?" I asked seriously.
She smiled and then nodded.
Damn it, she was beautiful, and it was very hard to say no to her.
I sighed softly, feeling defeated, and then looked at Larson.
"I'll help you out, but in return, you will have to bring Lui and the others back to our pack," I said.
"What? Uncle, that's impossible! Lui doesn't like me much... well, not after what I did and how I reacted. He can never come back here unless Kyle talks to him," he answered.
"That's not my problem, is it? I gave you a condition, so do your best if you want to see your mate again," I said.
"Kyle, will you come with me?" he asked.
Kyle stood up and walked to the door. When Amelia called him, he stopped and turned to look at us.
"It was just a misunderstanding. We are ready to take over the pack, you said. Have you forgotten in just a few minutes?" she asked.
"No, mother," he answered.
"Good, that means you will have enough time to prove to us that your words were sincere. You will go with Larson and make sure to win over your mate as well as mend your friendship with Lui. Larson, this time play your cards right and don't mess things up. When all is settled, you will return with them, and Tamara will be right here waiting to hear your sincere heart and plea," Amelia said seriously.
"We will leave tomorrow then," Kyle answered and then gave a bow before walking out of the room.
"I will do everything in my power to make things right, Aunt. I know Kyle is still upset with me, but because of you and Uncle Ian, he is doing his best not to show it or react badly," he said and then walked to Toni, who was glaring at him.
"To think you would take out your anger on your cousin, who has always been so kind to you. You were acting like a crazy, obsessed fool over Roxanne, and you almost ruined her life. As if that's not enough, you do this! I am very upset with you and so disappointed by your pathetic behavior," Toni said and then walked out of the room.
"If you fail to make peace with Lui, it's better you never cross your mother's path. She won't be so kind to you because she is very upset with you, and as we both know her, she can be that way until she sees change, and the change that she wants to see is peace between you, Kyle, Tamara, and Lui," Neo said, then he patted his shoulder lightly and walked out.
Poor kid; he was going through so much because of his wrong decisions. But then again, he needed to hear the truth and learn from his mistakes.
