Axel's POV
"Why are you here?" Felix asked Ian after opening the door.
"Step aside and let me in, Felix," he answered simply.
She hesitated but then stepped aside.
"Thank you for greeting me warmly," he mocked and then walked in, going straight to the living room where Tamara sat, looking at her phone seriously.
"Waiting for a call?" he asked.
She looked up and quickly got to her feet with a fake smile on her face.
"No. Oh, Uncle Ian, I didn't hear you walk in. I'm sorry," she answered and then moved closer.
When she tiptoed and kissed our cheek, we picked up the scent of tears.
"Were you crying?" he asked once she had pulled back.
"No," she answered simply.
"She's lying," I whispered.
"I know," he answered back.
"Are you perhaps waiting for Larson to call?" he asked as her expression changed.
She looked hurt and sad, and her eyes were filled with tears.
"Ian, if you start talking about that brat, I will have to ask you to leave," Felix warned as soon as she walked in.
"Felix, that brat is my nephew," he answered and then moved and sat down on a couch.
"I know, but he is also the reason my baby girl is hurting," she replied.
"Mother, please don't be rude; Uncle Ian has every right to talk about him," Tamara said in a cracked voice and then took a seat.
"Honestly, why are you here?" Felix asked.
"Where are Lee and Jeannie?" he asked, ignoring her question.
"They both have their own hobbies, work, and issues to take care of. Same goes for August, so don't ask stupid questions," she replied.
Just by her tone, we knew how annoyed she was with us.
"I drove all the way here because I want to talk about Larson," he said as her expression turned murderous.
"Get the fuck out of my house, Ian," she demanded seriously.
"Axel, I knew she wouldn't listen to me. It would be amazing if you stepped in now," he said as I took over.
She frowned when she saw it was me in control, then moved slowly and sat opposite me.
"Why do you always take over when things are like this?" she asked in an annoyed tone.
"Because you are being harsh with my human," I answered calmly.
"Axel, you can see how my baby is doing right now and how she has been crying over that damn brat. Clearly, as a parent, you would want to protect Kyle if he were in the same situation. Am I not allowed to do the same?" she asked seriously.
"I really do understand how you feel, Samantha, but is your decision best for Tamara? Does she want nothing to do with that pup? Does she want to reject him and be free from his bond? If yes, then you will have to allow her to return with me and do just that. I will stay by her side and make sure the pup accepts her rejection. But if that's not what she wants, then I want her to talk it out with him, and this time, no more games of revenge, because their quarrel made the situation worse in my pack," I answered.
"Honey, you want nothing to do with that bastard child, right?" she asked in a forceful tone.
"What's wrong with her? Can't she, for once, let her daughter decide on her own in peace?" Ian asked strongly.
"She will, but first, what Tamara needs is a little persuasion," I answered silently.
"As we speak, Kyle and Larson have gone to make amends with Lui and the others. If they fail to do so and you end up rejecting Larson, they will both be stripped of the position of ever becoming Alpha and Beta of our pack," I said as she sprang from her seat.
"What!" she exclaimed.
"They both contributed to the situations when they would have been the ones to handle everything discreetly and make peace. Because of them, the pack members are in doubt if they would ever work hand in hand in the future," I answered.
"I do not understand," she said in a low tone.
"Oh, I forgot to mention this to you, but they fought. More like Larson was badly hit by Lionel. Kyle was furious that he let Lionel take over and do as he saw fit. The pack members witnessed that fight, and a few were uncomfortable while the pups were scared. Because of that, Ian ordered them to make peace with you, Lui, and the others. Failure to do so would mean they wouldn't take over as Alpha and Beta of the pack," I said.
They weren't the exact words Ian had said, but I had to say it like that to have her either forgive him or reject him.
"It's revenge you wanted, so I'm sure this news is heartwarming. Imagine how everything would turn out for him. His Beta training would all be in vain, and the pack members would make him into a laughing stock. He wouldn't have you by his side, and his parents would be so disappointed in him, while Kyle would hate him for ruining his chance to be the Alpha of our pack.Wouldn't that be the perfect revenge ever? Amelia and Ian can still run the pack until our death, so even if the pups do take over, it would be after so many years have gone by," I said.
"Axel, stop. I know what you are doing, and it's not nice," Samantha warned.
"What? I really am telling her the truth. If she does want revenge, rejecting him is what she has to do, and he will lose his happiness," I answered.
"Never!" she screamed loudly as tears ran down her cheeks.
"I would never wish that on him! He would be so hurt, and he would hate me forever because I would be the one who took it all from him," she screamed.
"That is okay because even if he does hate you, he will mean nothing to you," I answered as her eyes turned red.
"I want to mean something to him; I never want him to hate me," she sobbed.
"And why is that?" I asked softly.
She closed her eyes and shook her head.
"Is it because you feel pity for him?" I asked deliberately.
"No," she whispered and then opened her eyes.
"I... I have always loved Larson. I wanted him even when he never wanted me. I thought I would grow up hating him, and I convinced myself I did. But when I met him at the pack, the wall I had built came crumbling down. I was in denial, and I wanted him to hurt; that's why I was horrible to him," she said in a cracked voice and then sniffed.
"I want him to be happy because my happiness is knowing that he is happy," she whispered as tears continued to fall.
"Damn, you are good," Ian said, then chuckled softly.
"He isn't happy right now, Tamara, because you are part of his happiness," I said softly and then stood up and looked at Felix, who was trying hard not to shed tears.
"I will go with you back to the pack, and this time I won't act tough or pretend," she answered strongly.
I smiled and then nodded.
"Felix, you can come with us," I said seriously.
"Okay," she answered in a cracked tone.
