Lui's POV
"Should we take a rest?" my father asked seriously.
I was tired and out of breath, yet I didn't want to stop.
"No, let's continue," I answered.
"Lui, since you all came back from Ian's pack, you have been looking gloomy and acting differently. Did something happen that made you all upset?" he asked.
"If something did upset me, I would have told you. Did I not tell you that we all had an amazing time because Yuki found out that Kyle is her mate?" I asked.
The day Larson told me to leave, I wasted no time in letting Akira and Yuki know what he had said. I expected them to protest, but shockingly, they both decided to leave. The drive back home was quiet, and when we reached, we had to pretend that we were okay and happy when deep down we weren't.
"You did, and I was shocked as well as happy that Yuki got a strong Alpha for a mate. But I am your father, and I can tell when you are not telling me everything or when you are lying," he answered.
I was about to respond when he frowned and raised his hand to stop me.
"Something is not right at the border; you stay here," he ordered and then quickly walked away, leaving me standing there, feeling concerned.
"I am supposed to be there with you!" I mind-linked him.
"I said stay right there; that's an order," he mind-linked me back.
I sighed heavily and then walked to a bench that was under a tree and sat down with my hands pressed on my knees. My heart was beating rapidly, and with each passing second, I felt uneasy.
"Mother, I'm sure Father has informed you about him going to the border. As the soon-to-be Alpha, I have to be right by his side," I mind-linked her.
"You stay put; Damon knows what he is doing and why he said that. Also, he won't be alone," came her response.
I cursed silently and began counting the seconds that soon turned into minutes.
"I feel frustrated!" I exclaimed and then stood up.
Before I could move, Yuki came running. I quickly moved and stood in front of her.
"What?" I asked in fear.
She was out of breath and looked scared.
"Kyle is here," she said in a husky voice.
"No, that's impossible," I answered.
"I can feel it when my own mate is close by, and right now I'm telling you that he is," she replied.
I quickly ran to the pack house and stood on the road that led to the pack's border. Yuki soon joined me and stood by my side.
When Kyle's car came into view, I looked at Yuki, who also looked at me.
"Stay calm," I said softly, and then looked back and noticed that my father's car was right behind his.
"Act natural," I whispered to Yuki.
"But...,"
"We can't involve Mom and Dad in our issues," I told her, cutting her off.
"I understand," she replied.
When Kyle parked the car and stepped out with Larson, I faked a smile.
He approached us as my father parked his car and stepped out with Alec.
"Yuki," I whispered when our father looked in our direction.
She ran to Kyle and jumped on him with laughter. He quickly held her with a shocked expression on his face and stopped walking, as Larson did too.
"I missed you a lot," she screamed loudly, making my father smile.
I walked to where they were standing and stood in front of them.
"Welcome to our pack," I said cheerfully.
"Kyle, you can put me down now," Yuki said softly.
"Not a chance," he answered seriously.
"I was surprised to see that it was Kyle and Larson at the border," my father said as he moved closer with Alec.
"I apologize, sir; we had to come no matter what," he answered and then looked at me with a raised brow.
"Right, if you don't mind, Father, Kyle and Larson will be in my room. I'm sure they have a few things they want to discuss in private," I said.
He nodded and then looked at Yuki seriously.
"Yuki, I know that Kyle is your mate, but stop acting spoiled and get down," he said as Yuki looked at him with an embarrassed expression.
"Dad, it's not that I don't want to come down; it's just that...."
"I seriously don't mind, sir. I actually feel happy holding her," Kyle said before she could finish her sentence.
"I see. Then I'll let Sherry know about your arrival; that way, she can prepare something good for you to eat," he answered and then hit Alec's hand lightly.
"Welcome to the pack," Alec said.
"Thank you," Larson answered.
Alec looked at me and then nodded before walking away with my father.
"You can seriously put me down, Kyle," Yuki said once our father and Alec were out of sight.
"No, I won't," he answered and then looked at me.
"Lead the way. We can't be standing here when we have a lot to talk about," he said.
I looked at Larson coldly and then turned.
"Follow me," I said and then walked into the pack house with them behind me.
When I reached my room, I opened the door and walked in as they did too.
Kyle went to sit on my bed with Yuki on his lap while Larson closed the door behind him and faced me. When he moved in front of me, I clenched my hands, preparing to punch his damn face if he said something stupid.
I was surprised when he bowed low to his waist.
"Alpha Lui, I came to apologize to you for my messed-up behavior at our pack. I also came to beg for your forgiveness. I was way out of line and disrespectful towards you and Kyle's soon-to-be Luna," he said.
I looked at Kyle and then at Yuki, who was surprised by his actions.
"Larson, raise your head," I said once I had unclenched my hands.
He stood upright and faced me seriously.
"Do you truly mean that?" I asked.
"I seriously do mean it," he answered.
I smiled and then relaxed.
"Honestly, I understood how you felt back then, and you being here and saying all that makes me feel at ease. To be honest, I am glad that you could take the time to come here just to say that," I answered.
"Does that mean you have forgiven me?" he asked loudly.
"Of course," I answered.
He smiled and then grabbed my hand and shook it.
"Thank you," he said after he had dropped it.
"And you, what do you have to say for yourself?" I asked Kyle.
"Can you please give me a few minutes to talk to Yuki first?" he asked as Yuki quickly shook her head.
I knew it was just an act she had put on for our father to see, but then again, she needed to sort out her issues with him.
"Sure," I answered and then looked at Larson.
"Hey, let me give you a tour of our pack," I said as he smiled widely.
"Sure, I would love that," he answered and then walked out of the room with me.
