Kyle's POV
"Here," the human lady whispered while handing Yuki a warm cup of tea.
"Thank you," she answered and then took it from her.
We were in warm clothes, and our wet ones were drying near the fire.
The little girl in the male Omega's arms looked terrified of us, avoiding our gaze.
"I'm truly sorry for intruding," I apologized when the lady handed me a cup of tea as well.
"It's fine; we are glad to serve you," she answered as I frowned.
Why were they talking like that? I wondered.
"I'm sorry to ask this, but why are you not staying in the pack?" I asked seriously.
The lady looked at the male Omega and then sat down next to him on a fluffy mat, not on the couch where we were.
"It's just the decision we made," the male Omega responded.
"Um... may I know your name?" Yuki asked.
"I am Philippe, and my mate's name is Ordain. Our little girl is called June," the male omega answered.
"Nice to meet you all, um... Philippe, please don't be alarmed or nervous. I would love to know if, by chance, any pack member bullied you. Our pack, as you know, is a very peaceful one. My father, mother, brother, and I have always done our very best to ensure that everyone has their freedom and happiness. We may experience some challenges, but by the end of the day, we overcome them or find solutions. So please, if you were bullied or taken advantage of, you can tell me," Yuki said seriously.
Philippe widened his eyes and then laughed softly.
"I'm sorry, but do you perhaps think I ran away from the pack?" he asked.
"Yes," she answered seriously.
There were female omegas and male omegas. They both had similar abilities and were mostly fragile. But then what was surprising was how some packs bullied and abused the male omegas more than the females because they were rarely seen or born.
"Then you are wrong; I did not run away from the pack. I agree there were times I was picked on and mocked for being weak, but there was never a day they physically hit or abused me. Alpha Damon is a very kind leader who would never allow anyone to be physically abused, so it's impossible to be abused in our pack," he answered as Yuki gave him a doubtful gaze.
"I met my mate Ordain right when I traveled to human territory. Back then, I was very upset with a few warriors who were making fun of me for being too weak to stand my ground in the training field. So, I decided to go into another territory. You know humans are weaker than us, so if I went there, maybe I could fit in; those were my initial thoughts at that moment. When I reached that side, I had no place to sleep, and I felt cold, so I went to the house that was close by to ask for help," he said as Ordain smiled.
"My parents were out of town then, and when I saw him, I didn't know why, but I wasn't scared of him; I actually felt pity for him. I invited him in and offered him some food. As the days went on, we got closer, and I felt so attracted to him. You know, it was like love at first sight. When he told me what he was, I was shocked, but soon accepted him because I was head over heels for him," she said.
"Yeah, but I had to go back because I knew how the Alpha would worry if news reached him that I was away from the pack," he said softly.
"I didn't want him to go, but I couldn't stop him from leaving; that's why I decided to go with him. I wrote a letter to my parents explaining to them how I was finally going to stay on my own. I even made a video lying about how I had a new job," she said.
"That was bold of you," I whispered.
"People do a lot of bold things when they are in love," she answered.
"Ordain came back with me to the pack, and everyone welcomed her nicely. Sadly, she couldn't feel at ease, and every time the warriors were teasing the she-wolves, she became uncomfortable. When she became pregnant, she fainted a few times due to stress. The healer said our environment wasn't one she should be in because it was adding to her stress," he said.
"That's when he decided to find a place that wasn't far away from the territory for us. And as soon as our little June was born, Philippe began building our house. When she was old enough to travel, we shifted here, and since then our lives have been peaceful," she said.
"Don't you have challenges?" I asked with concern.
As much as I understood their story, I was still concerned about their way of living. What would happen if an intruder attacked them? What if they all got sick?
"Alpha, everyone has challenges in life, and I am still a part of the pack, so I am okay," he answered.
I knew that in order to stop being a part of the pack, one had to be banished by the Alpha or had to say certain words to break off their connection to the pack, just as one had to say certain words to reject an unwanted mate.
Once their connection and link suffered, they were no longer a part of the pack. That meant they couldn't communicate with the pack members through the mind-link, and they were to be treated as intruders once they crossed the pack's border or territory.
"What happens when all of you get sick or are attacked first?" I asked.
"The Alpha always alerts everyone whenever there is danger, but yes, it would be a problem if we all got sick at once," he answered.
"How about you build another house behind the pack house or close to the stream? That way, no one will bother you,” Yuki said.
"No, that's a lot of work," he answered.
"The warriors will help you," Yuki said.
"Absolutely not," he replied.
"Are you scared that they might not do it? I'll ask Lui to supervise them," she said.
"No, that won't be necessary; moreover, I'll have to talk to the Alpha, which is nerve-wracking. I have never done that before," he answered as Yuki smiled.
"I will talk to him on your behalf," she said.
"You seriously don't have to," he answered softly.
"You will have to be close to the pack house for your own safety. You should decide in a week, okay? Because if Lui does hear everything and you are still here, believe me, he will come here personally," I said.
The way I knew him, he was obviously going to come here.
