Tamara's POV
"Who taught you how to cook so well?" Amelia asked with a smile.
"Sherry. At first, it felt like torture, but soon I got the hang of it," I answered with a smile as I stirred the pot of gravy.
"I had no idea she was a good cook," she said in a low tone.
"To be honest, I too had no idea. When I asked her about it, she said she had to learn and do her very best when she saw Alpha Damon enjoying his meal, which was prepared by...,"
I stopped talking when I heard loud cheers and laughter from outside.
Amelia stopped peeling the potatoes and quickly stood up from the kitchen table.
"Kyle and Larson have returned," she said happily, and then quickly rushed out of the room.
My heart was beating rapidly at the mention of Larson's name, and I felt very nervous.
For a few days, I tried my best to act normal and help out whenever I could. I even did my best to smile a lot and talk to a few pack members just to keep Amelia and Ian from worrying about me.
"What do I do now? What do I freaking do?" I asked myself silently when a few minutes went by.
Would going out and meeting Larson make me look desperate? Of course it would; he didn't even stop me when I was leaving. He didn't even call me when I was with my parents.
Did I make the right decision to be here, or was I acting upon my selfish needs?
"I am scared," I whispered in a low tone, then stopped stirring the pot and looked at my trembling hand.
I felt sick to my stomach and nauseated.
"You are the daughter of Samantha, a great purebred whom most people and beings respect and look up to," I said to myself and then quickly went back to stirring the pot when I heard heavy footsteps in the passage that sounded as if someone was running.
When they reached the kitchen I was in, I closed my eyes, inhaling Larson's scent, which instantly made me feel somehow at ease.
His scent was stronger than the last time I was here, and it was mixed with this manly musk I liked so much. He was breathing heavily, and I could feel his eyes on me even without looking at him.
When the footsteps began approaching me, I froze.
"Turn around and say 'Hi.' If you can't, then run away. Run away and don't turn or look back," I screamed at myself in my mind.
I was about to drop the cooking stick and make a run for it when his arms went around my waist.
I immediately tensed when he rested his head against my shoulder.
My heart was beating loudly, and I felt my throat become dry.
I held my breath when his arms tightened a little and his nose brushed against the side of my neck.
"I missed you like crazy," he whispered huskily, his warm breath touching my skin and giving me shivers.
I opened my mouth to say something, but I couldn't find my voice.
"Thank you, Tamara," he whispered and then inhaled deeply.
I had no idea what he meant by that. All I knew was that if he felt like I did, then he was definitely taking in my scent to fill that empty void he felt when we were apart.
"Where did he go? Seriously? What the hell? Hey, Larson," Kyle's voice sounded in the passage.
He pulled back with his arms still around my waist and cleared his throat.
"I'm in the kitchen, Kyle. Let me find you in my room," he answered loudly.
"Got it, you have a minute," Kyle said loudly, and soon after, I heard his footsteps move further away.
"Excuse me," Larson said softly.
"Let him go and don't respond to him; he pissed you off, remember," I told myself when he dropped his arms.
When I heard him shift, I quickly moved my hand back, grabbing his shirt without turning.
"I... um....," I tried to give an excuse for why I had done that, but I couldn't find the right words.
"I know," he whispered and then wrapped his arms around my waist once more.
"I won't take long, okay? I know we have a lot to talk about, and this time please don't be upset with me," he said and then pressed his lips to the side of my neck, kissing there gently as I swallowed hard.
"Meet me at the pack's border in thirty minutes," he said softly and then pulled back and walked out of the room.
I weakly fell to the ground in a sitting position with my hand placed on my chest. I felt dazed and in disbelief that he would choose to meet me without a second thought after what happened between us.
I was also very happy that words couldn't be explained.
In my mind, I assumed he would go to his room to rest, and after a day or two, he would come to talk to me.
"Oh my goodness! Tamara, are you okay?" Amelia asked loudly, snapping me out of my daze.
"I'm okay, Aunty Amelia," I answered in a low tone when she quickly moved and stood in front of me.
"I really am okay," I said, then slowly stood up with her help.
I couldn't even hear her walk in or approach the room because my mind was occupied with Larson.
"If you are lying to me, I will be sad. Did you eat?" she asked seriously, making me laugh softly.
"Aunt Amelia, I do eat human food just fine; have you forgotten?" I asked simply.
"Right," she answered and then went to sit down at the kitchen table to continue peeling the potatoes.
"Kyle was so happy to hear that you were here, while Larson rushed into the pack house at crazy speed. I thought he was running to meet you; I guess I was wrong," she said.
I lowered my gaze to the floor and smiled.
"I want to get some fresh air; I will be back in a few minutes. Is that okay with you?" I asked.
"Of course, take your time," she answered.
"Thanks," I said, and then quickly went out of the room.
I knew Larson said we should meet in thirty minutes. Sadly, I couldn't stay still and wait that long when I felt like each passing minute was taking forever.
I wanted to look at him and see his face. I wanted to touch him and just take him in as much as I could. That's why I was going to go to the border and be the one to wait for him.
"Who taught you how to cook so well?" Amelia asked with a smile.
