Larson's POV
"Where the hell are you, Larson!" Kyle yelled through our pack's mind-link.
"Somewhere," I answered, then looked around and laughed at myself.
When I told Tamara to meet me at the pack's border in thirty minutes, I didn't mean it.
When I left the kitchen, I decided to go to the border right then and wait for her. I couldn't stop myself or wait any longer.
"What do you mean 'somewhere' when I told you that you have a minute to meet me in your room? Seriously, where the hell are you?" he asked.
"I'm at the pack's border," I answered honestly.
"Why?" he asked loudly.
"When I went to meet Tamara in the kitchen, I asked her to meet me there in thirty minutes for us to talk," I explained.
"Thirty minutes, you say, yet you couldn't even spare me five minutes," he pointed out.
"I know, Kyle, I am very sorry. It's just that I couldn't stop myself from feeling anxious. I wanted to be here and wait for her," I replied seriously.
He sighed heavily and then kept quiet.
"Are you disappointed in me right now?" I asked in a low tone.
"No, not at all. I really do understand how you feel, but then again, what am I supposed to do with your carrier bags?" he asked.
"Is that what you wanted to talk to me about?" I asked.
"Yes, of course, because I don't know what to do with them or who they are for," he answered.
"Give them to Aunt Amelia and tell her they are a gift from Sherry," I said simply.
"Alright," he answered.
"Oh, and one more thing. Don't be a jerk to your mate, be it intentionally or not. This time, make sure to win her back, even if it means you should crawl on the ground like the undead," he said, making me chuckle.
"I understand, cousin, and if it's not too much to ask, grab the guitar in my room and take it to the gazebo canopy behind the pack house. Don't ask me why; just do it," I said.
"Mmm, why can't I ask why?" he asked.
I was about to respond when I picked up Tamara's scent.
"Just do it already, okay? I'll talk to you later," I answered, then closed our pack's mind-link and turned.
Tamara was approaching me with a surprised expression on her face.
It was late at night, but I could see her clearly—not only because of the bright full moon shining, but also because of the ability each and every werewolf possessed: sharp sight. It allowed us to see things clearly, whether they were far or close, be it at night or day.
She moved closer and stood in front of me with a puzzled expression.
"Am I late?" she asked in a low tone.
"No, of course not; we are both early," I answered.
"Oh, okay," she said in a low tone.
I couldn't take my eyes off her, and that seemed to make her uncomfortable because she tucked her hair behind her ear and lowered her gaze to the ground with a low, nervous chuckle.
"Um... is something on my face?" she asked.
"Yes," I answered seriously.
She quickly looked up and moved her hands to her face.
"What is it?" she asked loudly.
"Your beauty," I answered seriously, then moved my hand to her cheek when she dropped her hands with a heavy sigh.
"Larson," she called seriously.
"Yes," I answered.
"You are dead! How dare you freak me out!" she screamed at the top of her voice, then began hitting me playfully, making me laugh.
"I'm sorry, okay? How could I have known that would make you freak out?" I said with laughter.
"You!" she screamed as I began running away with raised hands.
"I'm sorry," I said loudly.
When she didn't answer, I stopped running and turned to look at her, only to be tackled to the ground.
She sat on top of me, giving me a serious look.
"I have the perfect revenge," she said and then grinned mischievously.
"No," I whispered softly, knowing that she was thinking of doing something uncomfortable.
"Please, no," I screamed when she began tickling me. I was laughing like crazy.
"I will never do that again, please," I laughed.
"I win," she said with laughter and dropped her hands.
I sighed softly and then raised my hand, moving strands of her hair from her face.
"We need to talk," I whispered seriously.
She stopped laughing and quickly moved, standing up and taking a few steps back.
I sat upright and got to my feet with a low groan.
This was the first time that we had laughed like this. We were acting so comfortably and freely around each other. It felt amazing, and I could have gone with the flow, but I wanted us to talk.
I dusted my clothes and then looked at her seriously.
"Please, move closer," I said softly.
She hesitated but complied.
"Closer," I said in a low tone.
When she didn't move, I did and closed the space between us, wrapping my arms around her, closing my eyes, and inhaling her scent.
When I went into the kitchen to see her, I had to hold her not only because I missed her but to give my wolf the needed assurance he longed for: that our mate came back because she cared and wanted us.
When she hugged me back, I quickly opened my eyes in surprise while my wolf purred happily.
"We still have a chance; make it right," he ordered as I smiled widely.
"Of course," I answered, and then pulled back and linked her hand to mine.
"Come on, let's go somewhere," I said, and then began to walk hand in hand with her.
"You know, the day you left back then, I chose to let you be and not stop you because I thought of myself as not being worthy of you. I asked myself what I could offer you when you didn't even want me and liked Kyle," I said as she looked at me coldly.
"I cried so much too because I told myself and my wolf that it was all over between us.It wasn't a rejection, but it still felt like one to me," I said softly and then swallowed hard.
"When I went with Kyle to Lui's pack, I did a lot of thinking, and I came to realize that I truly did want you with all my heart. I still have nothing of value to offer you besides my body and heart. If that wouldn't be enough for you with time, then I would do everything in my power to make you happy and prove my worth for as long as you give me a chance," I said, then frowned when she stopped walking.
"I'm sorry," I said softly without looking at her.
"I am messed up, and I caused you so much pain because of my stupidity. If I had known in the past how things would turn out, I would have made sure to choose you from the very beginning and spend the coming years just loving you," I said seriously.
"What are you saying?" she asked in a cracked tone.
I turned and faced her; she had her gaze lowered to the ground.
"I am asking you to stay by my side as my mate and woman. I am begging you to give me a second chance because I can't be without you. I promise I will treat you like a queen... my queen, because that's what you are in my eyes," I answered honestly.
"I will love you, Tamara, to the point of you getting sick of me, and I won't ever hurt you, no matter what, even if we disagree on something," I said, then grabbed her other hand.
"So please love me and forgive me," I said, then tensed when I picked up the scent of tears.
"You made her cry!" my wolf growled furiously.
"I have always loved you, and there is never a day I would ever get tired of you," she said, and then looked up.
"I have always wanted to be by your side; don't you know that?" she asked as tears ran down her cheeks.
My eyes were blurred with tears as well. I felt terrible seeing her cry yet again.
"So I forgive you, Larson, and this time please don't break my heart," she said in a low voice.
I nodded and hugged her tightly as a tear ran down my cheek.
I was going to treat her right no matter what, because I sincerely wanted her as my mate, lover, and friend.
