Kyle's POV
"Dad, as I said, everything went perfectly well, and soon my mate will be joining this pack," I said in his office.
He was sitting behind his desk with a smile on his face.
"That's good to know because I will be appointing you as acting Alpha in two weeks' time," he said seriously.
"What?" I asked loudly, then instantly stood up from the couch.
"You heard me," he answered simply.
"Wow, really? I'm so happy to hear that. You don't know how much I studied at the training camp. It wasn't all fighting and learning how to look after the pack. It was like human school, you know? I learned so much in just a few...,"
"Son, I know what happens there, so you don't have to tell me all that," he answered, then chuckled softly.
I felt so happy and excited that I wanted to give him a hug.
My joy wasn't just in taking over, but in having my mate stand next to me as my Luna.
"Are you that excited to push me out of my seat?" he asked with a smirk.
"You bet, I'll be way better than you," I answered playfully, making him laugh.
He stood up and walked in front of me, putting his hand on my shoulder.
"I know you will make an excellent Alpha, and I rarely say this, if not never, but Kyle, I am so proud of you," he said as I smiled.
"Thank you, Dad," I answered in a low voice.
"I will have to call the others and write to Roxanne about what will happen in the coming weeks. We can't have you become the acting Alpha without the whole family being present," he said, then dropped his hand and walked to the whiskey table to grab the bottle.
"Dad," I called softly.
"Yes," he answered simply as he poured the whiskey into a glass.
"What will you be doing with Mom? I know that you will be around, but how will you spend your time?" I asked curiously.
"I never told you about this, but when your mother asked me to abolish the bad rules of this pack and destroy the wings, I did, and I rebuilt houses as well as a library and other things. Among the things I built was a house that's further away from the pack house," he answered as I raised a brow.
Where was this conversation going? I wondered.
"That house is close to a river, and it's more of a home for me and Amelia. I built that place for her, and she did her best to breathe magic around it. She has a beautiful flower garden there and a greenhouse," he said, then took a sip from his glass.
"Although the house isn't that big, it feels so comfortable, and I love it when your mother cooks for me naked," he said simply.
"Dad!" I yelled, making him laugh.
"Well, I do, and I also love it when we go fishing or swimming. Besides that, there is a small library where we usually spend our time. Reading is now both of our hobbies," he said, then took another sip.
"So does anyone know about this place?" I asked.
"Your uncle Neo, aunt Toni, and your grandmother," he answered.
"I see," I whispered.
"So don't worry about us. We will still be a part of this pack, but not in the pack house. Whenever you have free time, come and visit us," he said, then looked at the door when it opened.
"I'm sorry to intrude," my mother said as she walked in.
"It's okay, Mother. We both knew it was you, and we are done talking," I answered.
"What were you guys talking about?" she asked while she walked to where my father was sitting.
"Um... Dad, won't you tell her?" I asked.
I had no idea if he had already told her about his plans or if he wanted to keep it a surprise.
She sat on his lap, looking at him with a curious expression on her face.
"I was talking to him about what we discussed last night," he answered and then wrapped his arms around her waist.
"He looks rather calm about the news. I expected him to be jumping up and down in joy," she said when she looked at me.
"Are you kidding me? I am beyond happy. I can't wait to inform Larson, and it's taking all of me to try and stay calm," I answered honestly.
"Okay then, you can go and tell him," she said with a smile.
I quickly moved and stood a meter away from them.
"Dad, Mom, thank you so much for everything. You are the best parents one could ever have, and I will do my very best to live up to your expectations," I said sincerely.
"Of course, we know you will," she answered.
"Then excuse me, I have to talk to Larson," I said, and then quickly rushed out of the office.
"Can you believe that we will soon take over the pack?" I asked Lionel.
"It's not a dream, I know," Lionel answered, making me laugh softly.
"I know too. It's just that I can't believe it," I answered, then stopped outside my room and frowned when I picked up Larson's scent.
"Weren't you supposed to be making out with Tamara by now?" I asked when I walked in.
He sat on my bed with a serious expression on his face. His hands were pressed together between his parted legs.
"What? Did something go wrong?" I asked with concern, then took a few steps closer.
"Kyle, did I ever tell you how much of a genius you are?" he asked seriously.
When I didn't respond, he continued to talk.
"Not only did she forgive me, but I think she will be staying with me, in this pack, by my side," he said loudly, then smiled.
"What? You won her over?" I asked at the top of my voice.
"Damn right I did," he answered, then threw himself back.
"I'm glad it worked out well because I worked so hard to create a romantic atmosphere for you. I had to light a few of my mom's candles and steal roses from Aunt Kylie's garden," I confessed.
"Thank you," he said, and then sat upright.
"But I did lose my guitar," he said.
"Someone stole it?" I asked at the top of my voice.
"No, not really. She took it as a gift, and so I let her have it because it made her happy, and I enjoyed seeing her that way," he answered.
"Well, you have a few more," I pointed out, then grinned with raised brows.
"Tell me already; I know what it means when you grin like that," he said calmly.
"I have some important news to t
ell you, and boy, you will flip after hearing it," I said, then smiled.
He really was going to be happy hearing the news.
