Kyle's POV
Yuki was so happy to meet her mother and brother, but she was also a little scared to face her father. I had to step in and hold her hand to give her courage.
If he was going to yell at her, then I was going to be pleasant too. That's exactly what I thought and did.
I stood by her side, and surprisingly, Alpha Damon was so happy to see her.
After that, we all chatted and had a few drinks.
Later on, we went to sleep, and now that the ceremony was happening today, I was feeling so nervous.
"Kyle, focus," Larson mind-linked me.
"I'm sorry," I mind-linked him back and looked at the pack members who were in front of us.
There were a lot of them, and it made the stage we were on look like a small place.
Right behind us were our family members, and Larson and I were a few steps away from my father, who was giving a speech.
I looked to my far right and saw Yuki standing there with a smile. She looked very beautiful yet elegant at the same time. She already gave off the vibes of a true Luna.
On our left was Tamara, standing seriously and looking at Larson. She looked amazing too and very focused.
Apparently, each of our mates was to stand on each of our sides as custom for the ritual and rules.
"I ask the soon-to-be Alpha to step forward and stand beside me, while the soon-to-be Beta will do the same but stand a step further from us," Dad said loudly.
My heart instantly picked up, and my breathing became labored.
When I looked at Yuki and saw her encouraging smile, I moved forward and stood beside him while Larson stood a step behind us.
"Lee," he called loudly.
Uncle Lee approached with a wooden cup in his hand and gave it to him.
By the scent of the contents in it, I could tell it was wolfsbane and wine.
Dad moved the cup to his mouth and drank from it.
"With this symbol of renewal and newfound strength and power, I now share and pledge it to its new master and leader," he said loudly and then handed me the cup.
I frowned and looked at it, then back at him.
When he nodded, I nodded back and drank from it.
Uncle Lee moved to my side and took the cup from my hand in silence, then returned to where he was standing.
I frowned and watched as Uncle Chase moved in front of us, raising his hand to the sky. Murmurs instantly broke out when a dagger appeared in his hand. I, too, was surprised to see such a thing.
He handed the dagger to my dad and then moved back after he nodded.
My dad moved closer to the edge of the stage and then looked at me. I quickly moved and joined him.
He moved his hand forward and made a cut on his palm.
I watched as blood drops fell to the ground.
I had no idea what was happening. I felt very confused because I was told nothing about this. But then again, my father wasn't one to do things that were unnecessary.
When he handed me the dagger, I grabbed it and moved my hand forward, making a cut on my palm.
If not for being well-trained, I wouldn't have been okay with the wolfsbane I had drunk or the silver dagger I was using. But then again, all I did was follow my instincts, telling me to follow his lead.
I watched as drops of my blood fell to the ground.
I glanced at Uncle Chase, expecting him to come and get the dagger, but he stood still, not moving.
When I looked back at it, it vanished from my hand.
I was a little startled when thunder roared, and shortly afterward, rain began to pour.
"Larson, please join us in front," my father mind-linked him.
He slowly moved and stood beside me.
My father smiled widely, then grabbed my hand and closed his eyes. I didn't know what it was, but I felt like grabbing Larson's hand.
When I did, I closed my eyes and felt a powerful force and sensation building throughout my body.
When I opened my eyes, I was surprised to see that Uncle Neo was holding Larson's hand as well.
"Congratulations, Alpha," Dad whispered, then let go of my hand and took a step back as Uncle Neo did the same.
When Larson looked at me, I smiled and then looked at the pack members, who were silent for a few seconds before they began to cheer, making me chuckle.
I still felt like I usually did; the only difference was that I felt more connected to the pack as well as the territory.
When I turned, I smiled at my family members, who all looked very happy.
I was about to look at Yuki when she came running into my arms.
I quickly hugged her back happily and then pulled back after a few minutes.
"Now, everyone, for those who want to eat the amazing food prepared by our very own leaders, please head to the pack house. For those who want to drink to their heart's content, they should head to the training field," Uncle Lee announced loudly.
"Those who want to watch sexy she-wolves and warriors dance and entertain will head behind the pack house, and those who want to talk to the new Alpha and Beta will remain here," he said loudly.
In just a few seconds, almost everyone was gone; the only few that remained were warriors that I considered our good friends.
"Larson," I called softly.
"I got it," he answered and surprised me when he went to Tamara, not to the waiting warriors.
He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her to him, kissing her deeply as if no one else mattered or was there.
"Jeez, who did he take after?" Uncle Neo whispered.
"Totally you," Dad responded with a smile.
I, too, wanted to kiss Yuki badly, but would that make her uncomfortable? I didn't want to make her uncomfortable in any way.
I looked at her and found her looking back at me.
I smiled and was surprised when she grabbed me by my collar and kissed me deeply.
All I could do was respond happily, even after I heard Dad sigh heavily.
He obviously was displeased by my actions, but I cared less because I was very happy.
