Lui's POV
"One, two, three, go," I said at the top of my voice as Dusk picked up a shot of tequila mixed with wolfsbane and drank it in one gulp.
"Yeah," Larson and Kyle cheered for him and then high-fived.
He was having so much fun, laughing and taking shots. I knew he was a very good drinker, but seeing him take shots like it was nothing made me respect him even more.
Not long ago, when he told me he was going to do his best, I looked forward to it, and now he was really showing me how he meant every word.
Not only was he responding to anyone who talked to him without stammering, but he didn't cower when approached or show signs of stepping back, and that made me feel very proud.
"Whose turn is it?" Kyle asked loudly.
"Mine," Garren answered as he approached us.
"Finally," Kyle said proudly.
"I should warn you, I don't go down easily," he said seriously once he stood beside us.
When he looked at me, he smirked.
"Care to take one too?" he asked.
"Sure," I answered and then stepped forward.
I had heard a lot about him from Kyle while we were at the training camp, so meeting him here in person was nice, and he turned out to be cool, just as Kyle said.
When I looked around, I noticed how the warriors began moving close to us. They all looked happy to see how everything was going to turn out.
We came to the training field trying to watch the warriors drink their liquor, but then we got bored and decided to take shots for fun, and here we were still doing that.
"Shall we make this fun?" a voice came from behind.
When I turned, I was surprised to see the twins.
I had heard how they could mask their scent easily. Back then, I thought they were being over-praised, but now that I was witnessing it, I felt impressed.
"What do you have in mind?" Garren asked seriously.
"Losers get to do what the winners want," one of the twins answered.
"I like that," Garren said simply.
"Then how about Uncle Evan? You compete with Garren because Lui isn't much of a good drinker?" Kyle asked.
"Sure," one of the twins answered.
“I still want to drink,” Dusk said loudly.
“Then, Dusk, you will compete with Uncle Ryan,” Kyle answered.
I looked at Kyle seriously and then smiled.
He truly was a lifesaver because I was already feeling tipsy from the previous shots I had taken.
I moved to his side as Larson poured the contents from the bottle into each of the small glasses.
"Are you okay?" he asked in a low tone.
"I feel a little tipsy," I answered honestly.
"Then let's go behind the pack house and rest a bit," he said.
"Okay," I answered and walked with him while Larson followed behind.
When we reached the gazebo, we were surprised to find Tanya, Tamara, Yuki, and Akira dancing playfully.
Beta August sat there with a smile, looking at them like they were kids, while some warriors stood afar, dancing with some she-wolves happily.
"What do we have here?" Larson asked loudly, getting everyone's attention.
"Kyle, you are finally here," Yuki said cheerfully.
"Yes," he answered simply.
When she came rushing towards us, I took a few steps back, knowing her habit very well.
Even back at home, whenever she wanted to dance, she had a way of making others join her.
Seeing how everyone was dancing apart from the Beta, I was so sure it was her doing.
She grabbed Kyle's hand and pulled him to where they were dancing.
Kyle stood there looking lost as she danced and circled him.
"Dude, you are stiff like a dry stick; loosen your body and muscles," I said loudly.
"I don't dance, dude," he answered, emphasizing the "dude" part.
"I don't either, but she made me dance back at home when we were kids," I said.
"Oh my goodness, I remember," Tamara said simply.
When she stopped dancing and looked at me, Akira quickly walked to where I was and grabbed my hand, pulling me forward.
I stood next to Kyle, not knowing how to move without music.
"Do you realize that there is no music playing?" Larson asked seriously.
"That's exactly what I wanted to ask," I backed him up.
"Tamara, go and get your man," Yuki said playfully.
"Oh no, I am not much of a dancer," Larson quickly responded when Tamara approached him.
"You don't have to do much, just slowly move your body," she answered and then grabbed his hand, pulling him close to us.
"What the hell are we supposed to do?" Kyle asked in a low tone.
"Screw this," I answered and then began to dance slowly.
"Yeah, just like that, Lui! You are doing it right!" Tamara exclaimed happily.
I was about to smile at her when Akira moved her arms around my shoulders.
"I prefer a slow dance," she whispered when I looked at her, surprised.
She was definitely jealous, and it was showing on her face.
"I do too," I answered, then wrapped my arms around her waist with a smile.
"I just wish there was music. I would also like to try slow dancing," Kyle said seriously.
"Then let me try something," Tamara replied, closing her eyes and raising both her hands in the air.
I was amazed when beautiful, colorful rays surrounded her, and they began turning into notes that formed a very pleasant melody that sounded very familiar.
Beta August got to his feet and moved, grabbing Tanya's hand and pulling her into his embrace.
“Are you showing off, Miss Half-Fairy?” Yuki teased.
“Maybe a little, but I can't use magic like Dad; I just try,” Tamara answered without opening her eyes.
"Is that 'You Are the Reason' by Calum Scott?" Kyle asked in a surprised tone before I could.
"Well, yes, it's my favorite song," she replied, then opened her eyes and looked at Larson with a wide smile.
He smiled back at her and then moved closer, extending his hand to her.
"May I have this dance with you?" he asked seriously.
"Yes, you may," she answered and then quickly took his hand and began to dance with him.
In just a few minutes, we were all dancing to the beautiful song, and all my focus was on Akira, who looked dazzling and just perfect with each movement she made.
When she lowered her hands to my chest and rested her head there, my heart began to beat rapidly.
What was supposed to be fun now felt so intimate and peaceful.
As I moved my hands to her back and rested my head against hers while closing my eyes, all I could do was wish for this moment to last longer.
"One, two, three, go," I said at the top of my voice as Dusk picked up a shot of tequila mixed with wolfsbane and drank it in one gulp.
