Tanya's POV
When I looked at August, I noticed how he had his gaze lowered to the floor.
When I looked back at my father, I pointed to the door.
I wanted him and Teresa to get the hell out.
"But I can clearly see that my daughter loves you a lot through her actions and the way she looks at or talks to you. As her father, I want to give you my blessing and permission to be with her," he said as I dropped my hand in shock.
"Just never hurt her intentionally or make her cry tears of anger or sadness," he said softly as I quickly ran to him, hugging him happily.
"I promise to forever make her happy. I may be different from you, but I truly love her, and I will always be there for her," August responded.
"Cian!" Teresa screamed furiously.
My father pushed me aside carefully and then faced her.
"I understand that you are upset over what he did and that you may be scared of what he is. But what you won't do is take away our daughter's happiness," he said seriously.
"I have never seen her defend someone like this before. Can't you see how much she loves him?" he asked.
"I don't care, Cian. I am her mother, and I say...."
"Shut that fucking thing you call a fucking mouth, Teresa!" he yelled as the room went silent.
My mother quickly lowered her gaze to the floor.
"Dad," I called in warning.
"I am so sorry, honey, about my words and for yelling at your mother. But I won't allow her to ruin your happiness as she did mine," he said as I frowned deeply and looked at August, who was looking at him in shock.
"Dad, what do you mean by that?" I asked in a low tone.
"Cian," she called in what sounded like a warning.
"Give them your approval and blessing, or I swear to God I'm telling her everything. I kept quiet for her happiness, and now I'm willing to talk for her happiness," he said seriously.
"Dad, what did you not tell me?" I asked loudly.
"August, dear, take good care of my daughter. I fully trust you will make her happy," she said, then smiled, surprising me.
"See you guys soon. Do visit your father or me any time you feel like," she said and then quickly rushed out of the room.
"Dad, what is she hiding from me?" I asked, my tone serious.
"Honey, I'd love to tell you the truth, but if I do, I'll be giving up my trump card, something I can hold over her for a long time," he answered, confusing me.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked loudly.
"What I'm telling you right now is to live freely and happily without minding your mother," he answered, then moved closer and kissed my head lightly.
When he pulled back, he looked at August and then smiled.
"I'll be taking my leave now. Thank you very much for having us over. Whenever you want to talk or ask for advice, just know I'm a call away. Tanya knows my cell number by heart," he said and then began to walk away.
"Dad, she did something terrible to you, didn't she?" I asked in a low tone.
I understood that my father was different in the past, but then again, if he had nothing against Teresa, she wouldn't have backed away.
Whatever he was keeping from me was very serious because she looked scared even though she was smiling.
"Honey, when I am sure you are fully bound to August with vows, that's when I will open my mouth. That way, I will know that no matter what, Teresa could never do anything," he answered and then walked away.
"He really is a straightforward man," August said softly.
I quickly turned to face him and then shook my head.
"Don't take to heart what he said; it's not like I want to get married," I said quickly.
He smiled and then stood up.
"You do want to get married someday, don't you?" he asked seriously.
"No, of course not," I lied.
When he told me everything about mates, I later asked him if his kind had weddings like we did.
He said some did, but most of them didn't because being marked was like taking a wedding vow between mates.
I wanted to get married and have my own kids one day before I met him. But after I did, I came to understand how he lived and viewed things; I realized that I may never get married.
A part of me was okay with it, but then there was this other part of me that hoped he would just choose to tie the knot with me.
"You know I can tell when you are lying to me?" he asked when he stood in front of me.
He raised his hand and moved it to my neck gently as I closed my eyes. When he caressed the spot where his mark was, I swallowed a moan.
"How about this? When you finally complete your course with amazing results, I may think about tying the knot with you," he said.
"Are you serious?" I exclaimed when I opened my eyes.
"I said I may," he answered.
"Wait and see, I will come out as the best student in this whole country," I said seriously.
He smiled, then leaned in and kissed my cheek.
"I look forward to that," he answered.
He was about to pull back when I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Are you okay?" I asked with concern.
My mother called him names and treated him badly in his own apartment. She really didn't deserve to be with him.
It wasn't the right time to feel happy, but I couldn't help but feel that way. After all, she showed him how she could never have accepted him, making me his right choice because I loved him with everything I had, no matter what he was.
"I am fine," he answered, then sighed softly.
"I never thought she would react that way, but not everyone can accept us," he said, leaning in and resting his forehead against mine.
"I am forever grateful to the moon goddess for granting my wish of finding a mate who loves me so deeply," he said, closing his eyes.
"Tanya, you are a gift from the moon goddess to me, so no matter what, never leave me," he added.
Was he serious? There was no way I was going to leave him, no matter what.
"I love you, August, as much as I love Reid. So be at ease, because
I will never leave you. I actually look forward to the day we tie the knot," I replied, closing my eyes with a smile.
