Ian's POV
Garren raised his hand but stopped when the Alpha Queen said some words in what sounded like Greek.
We all looked at her like she was crazy.
She continued to say words and then smiled innocently at us.
I wanted to rip off her damn head because I felt something was wrong.
I was surprised when Garren shifted back to his human form, clothes instantly appearing on his body.
"Couldn't you have said that sooner?" he asked loudly, then turned and looked at Lexi.
"Thank you for the clothes," he said loudly, and then looked at us.
"Is he fucking insane? Giving his back to the enemies?" I asked through our pack's mind-link.
"Dad, Garren is never this careless. He knows what he is doing," Roxanne answered.
I hated her judgment, but she was my little girl, and I chose to believe in her.
"You guys have to hear them out," he said as everyone looked at each other in disbelief.
"Garren, it seems you have grown soft over the years. Step aside; I'll take care of them," I said as I began to approach him.
"Amelia, I believe these are your relatives," he said.
"What?" I asked as I froze in my tracks.
"I have no relatives," she answered seriously.
"Exactly," I said loudly.
"Roman did not detect any lies when they spoke to us," he said as Lexi slowly came down.
"Dad, they can be lying," Kyle mind-linked me.
"I know, son, and it wouldn't be the first time some creeps said something to lower our guard," I answered through our mind-link.
"The question should be: is there a way for us to know if they are telling the truth?" Amelia asked through our mind-link.
"How about taking Garren’s word as truth?" Roxanne asked through our mind-link.
"No, his word can't be enough," Kyle answered seriously as I smirked.
Ever since he became Alpha, I felt prouder of him every year.
"I'll make sure they are telling the truth," Lexi answered loudly and then approached them.
We all watched her carefully and prepared ourselves to intervene if they were to do something to her.
Just because they couldn't move, it didn't mean they were alone or had no other tricks up their sleeves.
She stood in front of them and moved both of her hands over their heads.
After a few seconds, she dropped her hands and turned to face us.
Damn it! Her too? How could she turn her back toward the enemies!
"They speak the truth," she said as I frowned deeply and then looked back at Amelia.
"If that's the case, then why are they here now? What do they want? Also, how are they related to her?" Lui asked seriously.
"We are her cousins, and her mother was our father's sister," the female intruder answered.
"Mother had no family; she told me over and over how she only had my father!" Amelia exclaimed.
"Cousin, I think you know that Alpha kings never share a territory easily. Most of them, if not all, decided to leave and establish their own land and territory," the Alpha king said.
"How was our father going to stay back and share a territory with the others when they were all territorial?" he asked.
"And having an Alpha Queen sister come with him was only going to bring war because most Alpha kings would have stopped at nothing to have her," the Alpha Queen said.
"He abandoned her for her own good, and she knew that telling you about him or us wasn't the right thing to do," she said.
"Perhaps you would have gone in search of us, and you would have made yourself an easy prey and target for the Alpha kings to kidnap, capture, or force a marking on," she said seriously.
I hated her words, but they made so much sense.
"Then how did you survive it all?" Roxanne asked.
"Who said I did?" she asked and then pulled her dress slightly lower to show her neck, which had a marking that looked terrible. It was as if she had been forced.
"I was marked forcefully after our territory was ambushed. Our father was killed, and my brother was taken hostage and used as my weakness to agree to all those bastard terms," she answered with an angry expression on her face.
"He was ruthless, I tell you. He tortured me to make her agree to everything he said; that's why I had to be stronger. I trained hard in that damn cell every day," he said and then looked at his sister.
"The night that ruthless bastard got too drunk, my sister freed me from the shackles, and together we killed all the Alphas, Betas, and warriors under him. We also took him down, but it came at a very high cost because he was still too strong," she said as tears filled her eyes.
"She lost her unborn pup at the price of our freedom. When we left that hell, we began doing research of our own. Our father told us about his sister, but we were never sure if she had any pups or where she was," he said.
"That's when we found out about Ian, an Alpha whose name spread wide and far. What was very surprising was that he was mated to an Alpha queen," she said, then looked at her brother.
"We had a sorcerer track you down to find out more about you," he said.
"Our father wanted badly for your mother to know how sorry he was. We wanted to at least find her daughter to tell her that she had family and that she wasn't alone," she said.
"Well, that still doesn't explain why you chose to attack this pack," Kyle said seriously.
"We wanted to see how well she was treated. If she was but a tool to you all, she would have been sacrificed and put forth to fight us," she answered.
"But we were very surprised when you both were willing to move forward and shield her behind you. It is now clear to us that she is loved and cared for," he said.
I frowned and looked at Lexi seriously.
"They are telling the truth," she said through our pack's mind link.
"If we wanted war, we could have come with our warriors and sorcerers, but we came alone because we wanted to see our cousin. We come in peace," she said.
"So please release us from this spell, young ancient witch, and let us apologize for our rudeness and test," he said.
I looked at Amelia and Kyle, then the rest.
"I believe in Lexi; there has never been a barrier she couldn't see through," Kyle mind-linked me.
"He's right, and I trust Garren," Roxanne answered.
I walked to where Amelia was and stood in front of her.
"You are the only one who can have the final say. If you want them kicked out, we will do it. If you want them to stay a while, we will do it. And if you want them dead, I'll still gladly do it,” I said.
I didn't care about the pack's being Lui's because, to me, Amelia was more important.
