Diaz's POV
We sat in the living room as if we were animals in a zoo. They were all looking at us like we were crazy.
Some decided to sit, while others chose to stand.
We told our true story, yet they still had their doubts. Was it because we weren't telling them everything?
"I don't like this," Mariana mind-linked me.
"Same, sister, but just hang in there. Our first plan was successful, and as we predicted, they had an ancient witch who could read minds, so we are safe," I mind-linked her back.
"Brother, is this truly worth the trouble?" she asked, still using our mind-link.
I coldly glanced at her and then smiled. She quickly shifted her gaze from me and smiled back.
"I still feel like they are hiding something," Ian said loudly, getting everyone's attention.
He was standing behind Amelia, who sat on the couch looking at us seriously.
We knew Ian through stories we had heard, and when we finally met him, we recognized him just by the way he was overprotective towards our cousin. He also truly lived up to our expectations.
While we released our pheromones at the border to test how strong they all were, he was the only Alpha who looked unaffected, and that was very impressive.
"For once, we agree, Ian," another Alpha responded.
"It's good to see that you aren't stupid, Damon," Ian said, which seemed to piss off the Alpha named Damon.
"Dad, relax," the young Alpha said as he looked at Damon.
"Where is your territory?" Amelia asked seriously.
"In another country that is far away from here," my sister answered softly.
"Wow, it doesn't have a fucking name, I see," Ian mocked.
"How dare he?" Ezra, my wolf, growled furiously.
"Easy, we are outnumbered, and we can't afford to mess up," I warned him.
He huffed and then retreated.
"Ian, don't be rude," Amelia said softly.
I looked at her carefully and then smirked. Ever since we met, she had said only a few words, and she had this aura around her that was quite attractive.
When my eyes met Ian's, my smirk vanished.
He leaned in and kissed her head lightly, as if to calm and claim her in my presence, and that amused me.
I lowered my gaze to the floor to avoid them seeing my facial expression because I was dying to laugh at his desperation.
"I apologize for not responding as your mate would want, Amelia," my sister said.
"It's okay," Amelia answered, and then smiled.
"So do you two share a territory?" she asked.
I was about to answer when Ian chuckled.
"Oh, perhaps a bed?" he asked. I swallowed hard and then cleared my throat.
"I will crush him if he continues, and you won't stop me," Ezra growled furiously.
He was really getting on my nerves as well with each passing minute.
"Absolutely not. We are blood siblings, but that doesn't mean we don't share a territory. I fear sending my sister away would result in another sad incident. To protect her is my joy," I answered seriously.
"Protect her how when you clearly failed to protect her the first time when your father was very much alive? Your territory had two fucking Alpha kings, and yet you both couldn't do shit," Ian said as I stared at him murderously for a second and then smiled.
"Dad, there were three, including the Alpha Queen," the other young Alpha responded.
He looked like Ian and sounded very much like him, which I hated a lot. His only redeeming grace was a few features that resembled Amelia.
"My sister and I were quite young, and my father was an old man. How could we defend ourselves from an Alpha king who ambushed us with his warriors?" I asked coldly.
"Didn't you have your own warriors?" a purebred vampire asked.
"Disgusting," Mariana said through our mind-link.
"Relax," I ordered.
"How could they hang around with our mortal enemies? Look at how she is proudly talking to us as if she's above our level! I hate such pests!" she screamed furiously through our mind-link.
I looked at my sister and then smiled.
"Brother, we should leave; they are not worth it. Look at how they are treating you! Your name alone should make them bow down, and yet they are acting all high and mighty!" she yelled.
"I said relax!" I growled furiously, still using our mind-link.
She sighed and then lowered her gaze to the floor.
When I looked up, I was surprised to see how the purebred was looking at me as if she wanted to rip my head off.
When she smiled, her fangs showed.
"Sorry for taking so long to respond. We did have our own warriors, but they weren't as strong as the warriors that ambushed us," I answered simply.
"Fine, now that you have seen my mother and talked to her, when are you planning on leaving?" the young Alpha asked.
"Well... my sister and I had a very long and exhausting journey. We were hoping you would accommodate us, cousin, for just a few days," I said as I looked at Amelia.
"We aren't your insurance company or a damn hotel," Ian responded.
I got to my feet and looked at him seriously.
"Ian, do you perhaps have a problem with us?" I asked huskily.
"Brother," Mariana called softly.
"I am at the edge, Mariana. If that insignificant son of a bitch says one more word, I will..."
"What? What will you fucking do, you dumb shit?" he growled as I frowned.
I was so sure I had used our mind-link, yet he responded as if he had heard me clearly.
"Ian," Amelia called in what sounded like a warning.
"I can't do this, Amelia. This piece of shit and his slut of a sister not only insulted my best friend; they were mocking me!" he yelled as I looked at Mariana seriously.
"I didn't say anything out loud," she mind-linked me.
"You didn't have to be stupid. Lexi tapped into your mind-link so that everyone in this room could hear your private conversation," the hybrid Lycan answered simply.
I looked at the young witch and then at everyone who seemed as if they were ready to send us to hell.
"Shit," I whispered.
"Shit indeed, fucker, because you are not going anywhere," Ian said as I sighed heavily.
It was now clear we had made a huge mistake by underestimating them, mostly the young ancient witch who seemed to have abilities far greater than our own sorcerer's.
It was very impressive, as it was very annoying.
If we were to try and fight, we were clearly going to be taken down easily because we had no backup and we were very much outnumbered.
Our only hope of survival was to try and reason with them while at the same time just surrender.
We sat in the living room as if we were animals in a zoo. They were all looking at us like we were crazy.
