Lui's POV
"Are you okay?" I asked Akira with concern.
"Yes, how could I not be after the exciting day we have had?" she answered playfully.
These past few years have brought us closer than we already were. Not only did we share a mark, but we also shared an amazing, mature bond.
She was more open with me, and I got to see a side of her that I never expected. She was naughty in bed and funny whenever I felt down or needed cheering up.
She was also very respectful, kind, and mindful.
I laughed softly and then wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pulling her into my embrace.
We were standing all alone in the living room.
After that talk, Dad and Mom asked Mariana to follow them so she could meet her late brother's mate, while the twins decided to get rid of the body.
Uncle Alec went on to invite Alpha Ian and his family to join him in the dining hall, while we decided to remain behind for a bit and talk.
"I'm just very happy that everyone is safe," I said honestly.
"Me too," she answered.
I smiled and then leaned in to kiss her when I heard a familiar scent, followed by the sound of throat clearing.
I turned and faced the entrance where Philippe and Ordain were standing.
"We wanted to congratulate our new Alpha on the successful ceremony before we left the pack," he said as I smiled.
"Thank you both, but our names shouldn't change. We will still go by Lui and Akira," I answered as they smiled widely.
They moved closer, and Ordain wasted no time in hugging Akira, then pulled back.
Philippe patted my shoulders proudly.
"I'm so happy to see you take over, Lui," he said seriously.
I laughed softly and then nodded.
“Thank you, I am so happy as well,” I answered.
When Kyle told me about his place that was like paradise, I was hesitant to go, and a few things got in my way.
But after two years of training Dusk, he was able to handle a lot of things, so I decided to have a little vacation of my own with Akira.
We went to his place, and it was as Kyle had said: magical.
My mate and I had a splendid time and had so much fun.
When they asked us to look after their place because they had to go into human territory to take care of a personal matter, we got very excited.
Once they had left, we took that chance for ourselves and named it our funny honeymoon phase. We had a lot to talk about, and we even decided to mate.
Our bond grew stronger, and even when Philippe returned with his mate and child, we didn't want to leave the place.
Sadly, we knew we had our own duties; that's why we left and went back to the pack. But we continued to communicate with them.
"I still can't believe I failed to convince you to move here and sell me your place," I said playfully.
"Alpha, we really are okay staying there, and that place is a couple's peace paradise that we take good care of happily," he answered.
"Does Kyle know you built a cottage for visitors?" I asked with a smirk.
"No, unlike you, he knows nothing about it because he only came once. If he were to come there again, he would be happy," he answered.
"And... why is that?" Akira asked.
"Because when I was on that side, I slept in the same house as them," Kyle's voice came through.
He walked in, and soon Yuki followed.
"Alpha Kyle," Philippe greeted with a smile and gave a low bow.
"Sir Philippe," Kyle greeted back and gave a bow too, making us laugh.
"Alpha, that is offensive," Philippe said with laughter.
"That's all your fault. How many times will I tell you to call me Kyle?" he asked as Philippe looked at me seriously.
"You two say the same things at times," he said as I laughed.
"That's because we are best friends. But seriously, we want you to always call us by our names," I answered.
"Fine, so when are you going to come for a visit?" Ordain asked.
"I wish we could, but as you can see, my mate isn't in a state to stay away from my pack for days. She's due any week now," Kyle answered and then looked at me with a raised brow.
"How in the hell or heaven do you think my dad would let me take a vacation right after I have become Alpha?" I asked.
"I see, so it isn't only my father who has a desire to make someone work to the bone immediately after they take over as Alpha," he answered.
"Well, then how about this? When my sister safely gives birth and the child reaches a steady age, let's all go together and have some fun," I suggested seriously.
"That's if you don't get your mate pregnant next," Larson's voice came from the passage.
"Damn it, why are you all coming here?" I asked loudly when he walked in with Tamara, who was laughing loudly.
"That's because the star of the show is here," she answered simply.
"Well, I wanted a few minutes alone with my mate," I replied simply.
"We understand, so about our plan to visit that place," Larson said as I laughed.
"You also want to join us?" I asked seriously.
"Of course I do. Who in their right mind wouldn't want to after hearing such nice things about the place for years?" he asked.
"Then we will all go after Yuki gives birth and raises the pup to a steady age," I answered.
"Let's hope by then we aren't old," Kyle joked as we all laughed.
We all looked at the entrance when we picked up Dusk's scent.
He walked in and gave a quick bow to show respect.
"The former Alphas are requesting your presence. They can't make a toast when you all are missing," he said seriously.
"You are right," I answered and then walked to him and stood in front of him.
"When will you find your mate?" I asked as his expression softened.
"Alpha, it's only the moon goddess that knows. I wish most of the time to cross paths with her," he answered sadly.
I looked behind and saw how everyone was looking at him sadly.
I faced Dusk and then laughed softly.
"Let's start ambushing packs like Alpha Ian did in the past; maybe you will get a chance to meet her," I said.
"Not a chance in hell!" he screamed and stormed out, making me chuckle.
He was a kind Beta and a very considerate one. If only the moon goddess would show him kindness.
