Kyle's POV
"Aren't you going in?" Father asked as I stood outside the ward with a rapidly beating heart.
I had no idea why my dad, Ian, had given my father, Axel, control, but I felt grateful. Perhaps it was because Father always knew what to say in the moment and at the right time.
"I feel cold feet, Father," I whispered honestly.
He smirked and then moved his hand to my head, ruffling my hair gently and playfully.
"Son, you just have to go in; she is waiting for you," he said as I looked at him and then smiled.
"Always remember, we are the strongholds of our mates as they are for us. You being there for her right now will be heartwarming and ease the tension and worries she might have," he said softly.
"Thank you, Father," I whispered to him and then slowly grabbed the door handle and pushed it open.
When Yuki came into view, I quickly went in and went to her side, embracing her with a warm smile.
All the emotions I thought I couldn't feel in that moment came crashing down on me: happiness, relief, joy, guilt, and appreciation.
I shifted a bit and kissed her lips gently with a smile.
After giving Larson and Tamara the needed space, I decided to go back and see my mate.
In that moment, I had a lot to process, and I felt so much appreciation towards Yuki for each and every second she had loved and supported me.
When I pulled back from the kiss, I moved my hand to her cheek.
"Hey," I whispered softly.
She smiled with tears in her eyes, then leaned into my touch.
"I missed you," she whispered softly.
I hugged her closely, rubbing my hands on her back gently.
"Forgive me for not being by your side when you were going through so much pain. I wanted to; it's just that...."
"Kyle," she called softly and then pulled back to look at me.
"I know you can never leave my side, no matter what. You not being present at our daughter's birth isn't something I have taken to heart," she said softly and then smiled widely.
"You are here, after all, aren't you?" she asked seriously.
I was about to respond when the door opened, and a midwife stepped in holding a pup in her arms.
As she approached me, I found myself walking toward her and meeting her halfway.
She smiled at me and looked at the pup as I did the same.
The pup had her eyes closed, yet she looked so pretty.
"Would you like to hold your daughter?" she asked in a respectful tone.
"Please," I whispered softly.
She nodded and then slowly moved the pup into my arms.
I looked at the pup for a few seconds, and when she opened her eyes, tears filled my eyes.
The joy I felt swirling in my heart while looking at my pup made me feel like the luckiest Alpha in the world.
I slowly turned and went back to Yuki, leaning forward for her to see our pup.
"Isn't she just perfect?" I asked huskily.
"Kyle, please don't do this," she said as I looked into her eyes.
"Do what?" I frowned.
She was crying silently.
I quickly moved my free hand to her cheek.
"Are you in pain?" I asked with concern.
She shook her head and lightly hit my shoulder.
"How can I not cry when you are weeping?" she asked in a low, pained tone.
I moved my free hand to my cheek and was surprised to feel tears.
I wanted to tell her I wasn’t crying, but I couldn’t. Instead, I found myself shedding even more tears.
"I'm just so happy," I said, my voice thick with emotion.
She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around me, silently crying as well.
Having my daughter and mate in good health felt like a miracle—a gift bestowed upon me by the Moon Goddess.
"I feel terrible interrupting such a moment," my father's voice came from behind the door.
I quickly wiped away my tears and Yuki's before standing upright.
"Father, you can come in," I said seriously.
When the door opened, he walked in with my mother as I frowned.
It had been a long time since I saw Mother Aurora and him take over.
I carefully handed the pup to Yuki and went to my mother to hug her.
"Mother," I whispered as a form of greeting.
When she pulled back from the hug, she smiled at me warmly.
"What? You look so surprised to see me," she said as I chuckled softly.
Of course I was, because I usually talked to Mom and Dad. Having my father, Axel, and my mother, Aurora, present right now wasn't what I had thought would happen.
"It's just that it's been a long time since I talked to both of you," I answered honestly.
"We wouldn't miss the birth of our first granddaughter no matter what," she replied, then tiptoed and kissed my cheek.
I smiled and looked at my father.
He didn't have to say a thing because I could read his facial expression, which conveyed all the words I wanted to hear.
He was happy and very proud of me and my mate.
A part of me didn't want to do what I was about to do because it wasn't considered manly for an Alpha, yet I wanted to.
I moved and hugged him.
"Thank you, Father, for everything," I said seriously and then pulled back.
He smiled and nodded.
"Yuki, you did good. I am so proud of you," my mother said as she moved closer to her.
"Would you like to hold your grandpup?" Yuki asked softly.
"Of course," my mother answered, then leaned in and took the pup in her arms.
She smiled and looked at my father seriously.
"Axel, don't you want to hold your granddaughter? She is such an angel; look at how peaceful she looks," she said.
Father moved closer, and when the pup was given to him, he carefully held it and began to rock it.
I stood there watching them with tears filling my eyes.
There was nothing more I could ask for because everything I ever wanted or yearned for was in my grasp.
"Kyle, don't you dare cry again," my father warned seriously.
I chuckled softly and then brushed the tears away before they could roll down.
"I won't cry, Father," I answered, and then closed my eyes, allowing Lionel to take over.
He had every right to meet our pup as much as I did.
I also wanted him to talk to our father and mother as much as he could because he dearly missed them too.
"Aren't you going in?" Father asked as I stood outside the ward with a rapidly beating heart.
