Kyle's POV
"So, are you doing okay?" I asked Uncle August on the phone.
"Yes, my mate is doing much better as well," he answered simply.
"I'm glad," I said as I stretched myself on the couch.
"So, you left your pup and went to have fun?" he asked as I rolled my eyes.
"You are making it sound terrible, Uncle," I pointed out.
"Well, your pup is only six months old, and you are already out having fun with your mate," he said as I frowned.
"My mother was the one who encouraged us to come here. Moreover, it was a promise we made at Lui's ceremony," I answered coldly.
"Oh, so Amelia is looking after the pup?" he asked in a relieved tone.
"Of course she is. She and Dad were very happy when they knew of our plans. I kind of feel like they want to make another sibling," I answered as he laughed loudly.
"No way, they are just happy to be taking care of their grandpup," he said, making me smile.
After the birth of my pup, they were very supportive in almost everything. My mother was very close to Yuki, doing most of the things for her, while Dad was right there lending a hand.
It was a rare sight that made me very happy. I was grateful to both of them, and I was reluctant to tell them about my plan.
Luckily, when I did, they were more than willing to look after their grandpup.
"You are right," I answered.
Uncle August and I talked a lot more than we did in the past, and I found myself relying on him for the things I failed to convey to my parents.
"Kyle, quit being on the phone; it's annoying as hell," Lui called out from outside, loudly.
"I'll talk to you later; Lui sounds furious," I said on the phone as I stood up.
"Kyle," Uncle August called softly.
"Yes," I answered.
"Have fun, okay?" he said as I smirked.
"I will," I answered, then disconnected the call.
I liked hearing his cheerful tone. He sounded more relaxed and happy than he had months ago.
"I'm coming," I announced loudly to Lui and then walked out of Philippe's living room.
"Gosh, you are a hypocrite, aren't you? You said when we got here, no one is allowed to be on their phone no matter what, yet here you are," Lui said seriously.
I chuckled softly and then moved closer, patting his shoulder playfully.
"That rule does not apply to me or Yuki. We have a pup we worry about, and having our phones on is more of a relief because we can communicate with our parents," I answered as he rolled his eyes and walked ahead of me.
"Jeez, I'm sorry," I whispered as I followed him.
"Screw you," he whispered as I frowned.
Was he seriously this angry over me picking up a call? I wondered.
When he picked up his pace, leaving me behind, I sighed heavily.
"Should I apologize?" I asked Lionel.
"Yes," came his direct response.
"Fine," I said, then picked up my pace and followed him.
I walked past the trees with a smile.
The place brought back a lot of memories I never thought of seriously. I couldn't help but chuckle when I remembered how Yuki and I were trying to plank some fruit, only to have her fall down.
"We have truly come a long way with her," I whispered to Lionel.
When I walked to where the hot spring was, I got a little startled when everyone screamed out, "Congratulations!"
"What's going on?" I asked loudly and then looked at Philippe and Ordain.
"Well, congratulations on becoming a father," Ordain answered with a chuckle.
I smiled warmly and then walked to Yuki, hugging her tightly.
When I pulled back, I looked at Larson, Tamara, Lui, Akira, and Dusk seriously.
"I don't know what to say," I whispered seriously to them.
They were my close friends and my family, whom I cherished happily, and seeing how they went out of their way to decorate the whole area in a romantic setting made me so happy.
"You can always say thank you," Lui said loudly as he raised his hand in the air while fireworks exploded.
I quickly looked up with a smirk, watching the magical display before me.
"Magic at your display, Alpha Kyle," Larson said in a playful tone as I laughed while the fireworks continued to light up the sky before us.
"Hey," Yuki called through our mind-link.
I looked at her and smiled.
"What is it, sweetie?" I asked seriously, still using our mind-link.
"Are you happy?" she asked, catching me off guard.
What exactly was happiness?
I asked myself silently as I looked at everyone.
Lui had his hand wrapped around Akira's waist, yelling out happily with his free hand in the air as Akira laughed loudly.
Larson was standing behind Tamara with his arms wrapped around her waist, smiling widely while she laughed.
Although Dusk was sitting close to a campfire, drinking a beer, he too had a smile across his face..
I shifted my gaze to Philippe, who was dancing slowly with Ordain without any music playing, and then smiled, blinking back the tears forming in my eyes.
Happiness was seeing the ones I cherished and cared for happy.
My happiness was seeing my father proud and my mother excited to lend a hand and wrap her arms around me.
Happiness was having my mate next to me, holding my hand with a smile that showed me how much she needed, cared for, and loved me.
Happiness was seeing my Beta achieve all he dreamed of and feared to think of because he thought of himself as not deserving.
It was also seeing my best friend cheering loudly and having the best night of his life.
It was also seeing the people I respect share their magical place with someone like me and my other family members.
"What is it?" Yuki asked with concern.
"I miss our pup," I answered with a wide smile.
"She is safe," she whispered.
I raised my hand to the sky, moving it as if touching it, as I closed my eyes and made a silent wish and prayer to the moon goddess.
I wanted to stay with my mate, living a happy, healthy life with our pup.
I also wished for Tamara to be a mother, as she yearned to be.
I whispered for Lui to be the greatest Alpha who ever lived in his pack, as well as for his mate.
And I wished for Philipe and his mate to always be happy in life, no matter what life threw at them.
"Please," I whispered in a low tone as I smiled, knowing how the moon goddess was listening.
