LENA POV:
“You won't understand even if I try explaining everything to you. It's so complicated and I'm having a hard time understanding it myself.
I'm trying so hard not to stress you, you don't know what's happening,” he said, looking at me with a worried expression on his face "Please don't try to leave me. Because I don't think I would able to bear your absence.”
I was silent. Too silent.
I was lost in my flood of thoughts choking me like I was drowning.
I am. In different scenarios I was fucking loosing and I can't hide it anymore.
“It's fine. I understand you can't tell me anything because I'm no one to you but your surrogate. I shouldn't have even thought I would be more to you," I said, smiling as I walked back with my eyes closing slowly as I pretended like I wabted to sleep.
He didn't say anything, but I could still feel his presence until he left some minutes later with the door creaking behind him like an alarm telling me he was gone.
I opened my eyes immediately, and climbed down. I was fucking tired of this, and I wanted to end it as soon as possible to avoid the drama.
Looking down the hallways and it was filled with doctors and nurses who were on duty.
I went back with a frown on my face, I undressed and waited bidding my time so I could run out without being noticed I'm a patient.
Checking again and I saw it was empty, seizing the opportunity I ran out. Walking like an normal human, laughing as I looked around hoping I won't barge into Domino or his friend; my supposed brother Cane.
I haven't seen him since I was admitted,I wanted to. But I know he would tell Domino about my movements.
“Lena, what are you doing? You should be in your room, you haven't even recovered from what you went through..
Am I cursed or something? Turning around and it wasn't Cane.
I don't know that face. It was unfamiliar, standing on my guard as I stared back with confusion on my face.
“Who are you and who are you looking for? And my name's not Lena."
The man walked forward towards me with his strides fast like he knew me.
"There's no need to lie, I'm sorry I made you get tensed. I'm your guard, Domino appointed me to take care of you,” He said, bowing a bit as he apologized.
“Oh. I'm just taking a stroll, I'm sick of the room with no one to talk to me. You can go back, I can take care of myself.”
"I'm sorry, I can't let you go till he's back to safeguard you. You are my responsibility and I can't afford to let you hurt yourself.
If you want to take a stroll, you can move forward and I would walk behind some distance to give you the privacy you deserve. I'm Kim,” Kim said, smiling as he looked straight at me with his eyes dancing in mirth.
He stopped picking up his phone, and he nodded to the caller.

I forced a smile back, nodding. “Fine. Just don’t breathe too close. I might suffocate,” I muttered under my breath and turned, walking ahead.
The hallway was cold, unusually quiet now that the nurses had disappeared into their offices and duty rooms. I could hear the faint echo of our footsteps as I walked faster, almost trying to outrun the mess that had become my life. But I didn’t get far.
“Lena?” a familiar voice called behind me.
I stopped dead in my tracks. That voice...
Turning slowly, my heart jumped.
“Cane?” I blinked, and there he was—taller than I remembered, eyes filled with tension, but something about his expression made me uneasy.
“I’ve been looking for you,” he said, eyes darting past me to Kim in the distance. “Come. I’m getting you out of here. Now.”
My brows knitted. “What? Domino doesn’t want me to leave. He even put a guard—”
“I know, Lena,” Cane said quickly, grabbing my arm gently. “And I don’t care what he wants.
You’re not safe here. I heard everything. There’s more going on than you know, and I’m not going to stand back and watch them use you.”
I stared at him, my mind at war. Did I trust him? I wanted to. He was the only one who hadn’t lied to me—at least not yet.
“Is this real?” I whispered. “You’re not just saying that?”
He stepped closer, eyes fierce. “I’m your brother, Lena. Half or not, I’m the only one who actually gives a damn about you. Come with me. Please.”
I glanced over my shoulder. Kim was still there, distracted by a phone call, pacing a few feet away.
Cane tugged me gently. “Now. Before they realize you’re gone.”
That was all it took.
I followed.
We slipped through a side door, exited through a stairwell, and he led me across a dark parking lot to a black car with tinted windows.
“Where are we going?” I asked, heart racing, my fingers trembling slightly from the rush.
“To someone who can help. You’ll be safe,” he said, opening the door for me.
I got in. The door slammed shut. And something shifted in the air. Tension. And I couldn't explain why I was suddenly getting scared.
I shouldn't be, Cane is here with me.
The driver didn’t look at me. He just pulled away, and Cane sat beside me, suddenly quiet. Too quiet.
