Lena's POV:
Damn... When did I get so crazy. A syringe filled with unknown liquid was aimed at my neck and there I was moaning.
I wanted to keep them distracted so Cane could get his act together. But the way he was staring at me, I didn't think that would be happening soon.
"She's crazy." The men holding Cane muttered and he smiled sheepishly at them.
"What? I love being choked." I shrugged and the man holding me shook his head, releasing his grip on me. I winked at Cane and he winked back, immediately getting the message. I head butted the guy, wincing at the sudden movement. I was pregnant and shouldn't be caught in this ordeal, but this was my life now.
The man cussed in a foreign language, and I bent down, just in time to see Cane overpowering the men holding him. I smiled at the way he moved with ease and and a picture of someone I was trying to forget popped in my head. I shook it off immediately not wanting to ruin my mood.
I heard two loud bangs and looked behind me as the man who was previously holding me dropped dead.
I got on my feet, smiling at Cane.
"You're one crazy lady, you know that." He said walking over.
My smile widened. "You love me that way."
He hummed, tilting my chin. "Unfortunately, I do." He said and slammed his lips on mine. I moaned, kissing him right back.
"Cane..." I murmured, breaking the kids for a moment.
"Hmm." He answered claiming my lips again.
"We're outside." I said and he stopped, taking a look around.
People moved about minding their business.
"They don't care." He said after a while.
I chuckled "But I do."
"Fine, let's go inside." He stated, grabbing my arm.
We both walked back to his place, Just as we got inside, a man appeared.
Cane looked at him in recognition.
"Go in, I'll be back." He turned to me.
I nodded feeling a bit disappointed, but went in all the same. Going up to my room, I bounced on the bed, taking off my shoes.
I was relieved to finally get the footwear off. I took my cloth off next, making my way to the bathroom when my phone dinged. I looked at it wondering who it might be. It vibrated again and I finally went to it.
I stared at the screen and wasn't surprised to see a message from Emily. She's been texting me non stop these past few days. I kept resisting the urge to text back, but for how long will I keep it off. And if I wanted to text her, what will I say? That I was beginning to love the man who kidnapped me? That I was fallen for two men? While I could stop thinking about one, the other one was forever stuck in my head?
Dominic had a lot of issues and I wanted to help but not if he keeps trying to kill me.
I was just about to turn the phone off when a message came from a different number. I frowned, it wasn't a number I recognized.
I tapped the screen, automatically opening the message and it read; “Come home, or she pays the price.” and attaches to it was a video of Emma.
The phone slipped from my hand, falling to the floor. I broke out in sweat despite the air conditioning.
Only one person was capable of this. Only one person got his wish through blackmail and threat. Dominic. I sniffled, wiping my cheeks clean. The tears didn't stop rolling down my cheeks.
Here I was thinking I could be happy away from his evil and vile clutches.
I was crying now, my hands shook as I picked up my phone.
What was I to do from here. I scrolled through my contacts, frantically looking for the contact of Emma's doctors.
Just as I was about to dial it, a call came in.
Cane had warned me not to take any calls, but this looked pretty urgent. I took a deep breath to compose my act, before picking.
"Hello." I muttered.
"I'm speaking to Emma's sister, right?" The female voice said. Contrast to my tone, hers were bold.
"Y-yes." I answered.
"The contact funding her treatment suddenly cut her off. I'm sorry to break this to you, but we would have to discontinue."
I felt a piece of me snap as she broke the news. I might have read the message, but nothing could prepare me for this. Maybe a part of me, hoped he was kidding.
"Is there anything I could do?" I asked.
I still had some money stashed somewhere but it wouldn't carry her for a long time.
"Argh!" I groaned, grabbing my hair. Dominic had just placed me in a tight spot.
Why would he do this? Did I mean so little in his sight?
"You're one to talk, you kissed someone else while carrying his child." My inner voice mocked.
I rubbed my face tiredly. I guess it was fair. I had gone and broken the contract and now this was his way of punishing me.
"Unless you have cash to continue funding her bills, I'm afraid there's none. "
I heard a voice and I immediately remembered I was still in a conversation with the doctor.
"Okay." I cleared my throat, coming to a quick decision.
"I'll be there first thing tomorrow." I mumbled.
"We'll be expecting you ma'am." The doctor said and hung up. I placed my phone down beside where I was sitting.
I took one look around, and teared up immediately. Once again I was leaving. Why couldn't I be happy for a long while? Why does it have to be cut short? I tried to picture Dominic in a different aspect of me hating him.
I just couldn't. Whenever I thought of him, there was this slight flutter I get. I still got them now. But why?
